Equipment Ezone Espresso

Recently bought a 2026 yonex ezone espresso and strung it up with pt rev in the mains and lux element in the crosses. It looks and plays amazing. Was wondering if anyone else has tried this setup or something similar.

Look at me! I just won $1000 in a tournament 😮

The tournament was called the Kingsman Tennis Clash. An amazing experience from start to finish. I got a bunch of gifts, including Reebok shoes, Mejuri jewelry, and Wilson clothes. Registration was $165 which felt expensive at the time but honestly not bad at all when you factor in the gifts.

The format was unlike anything I’ve ever played. There was a men’s division and women’s division. Each division had only four players. It was a single elimination bracket meaning I only needed to win two matches to win the whole thing. Here’s the crazy part: each match was best of three games. Not sets. GAMES. And no ad scoring on top of that.

Even though the matches were short- it was such a fun event. For the first time ever- I got to play a match that had an umpire that made line calls and announced the score. There were ball boys/ball girls. And tons of free food and drinks. Honestly, I think it’s the closest thing to playing a professional match that I’ll ever experience.

If interested in joining the next one, follow @cnaleisureclub on ig

Below is a link to a short video I made of the whole experience.

General Advice Help! Need advice for playing doubles with a partner I can’t stand!

So I’m on a 3.5 team and we got this new lady on our team. She was probably pretty good back in the day but she is very inconsistent now. She’s maybe 15-20 years older than me and because I’m a runner and love to play at the net, I often get paired with someone who is not a runner but hopefully has good baseline strokes. None of that bothers me.
What bothers me is that I don’t like her personality. She’s loud and abrasive. She makes excuses if she messes up or blames her partner. She pouts. She talks to the pro during play which slows down practice for everyone. She acts like a know it all when she’s not. It rubs me wrong and I avoid her in practices. Well, guess who I get paired with for our match this week? Her! I need to have a positive mindset and not let her antics or personality distract me. Coach said I’m a person who can play well with anyone but I am worried that I will get upset with this lady, especially if she tries to give me some tips. If she does, I will have to speak up. Should I try to zone her out or just pretend I like her and am happy to partner with her? I’m a positive person and competitive but I can get fiery when provoked.

Hello!

We are engineering students, interested in creating a smart tennis dampener for our university capstone project. The goal is to track tennis data and give you feedback to improve your skill!

We are seeking your help to determine what type of data and feedback you would want. The survey should take 5-10 min. We are collecting data through to Oct 31st.

If you could pass this on to your team, we'd really appreciate the help!

Look at me! Ripping with a 4.0 pal

He crushed me in the first two sets, the first six or seven games not recorded so it’s missing about 15 clean winners that he hit off of rally balls. I caught up and took the third, but my knee (unusual
bursitis) was acting up so I couldn’t quite move as well as I’d need to when he’s firing on all cylinders.

Technique Advice serve technique + more

• Upvotes

hello i’ve been playing tennis for nearly 3 months. the only coaching i’ve gotten was from a couple high school practices but other than that ive not paid for any coaching or anything like that. ive had the same routine every time i go out to play with my friend. we warmup by hitting the ball to each other for around 10-20 minutes and then we practice our serves for 10 minutes. after that we play a 3 set game. my serves feel fine when im practicing them and in the first set they’re also fine. but when i get to the second or third it feels like i just can’t serve or just play good at all. so i attached this video to hopefully get some advice on my serve as well as if i should start getting coaches or change up my routine when i go out and play.

Technique Advice How tightly do you wind your body when you serve, and what physical cues are you looking for?

This post is looking for feedback from advanced players only.

I am trying to pinpoint exactly the difference between the long, open rotational movement of a forehand vs. the tight coil and explosive hip thrust of a serve.

What cues are you looking for/wanting to feel?

It seems like low bouncing is often associated with fast courts, although I have played on lifeless low bouncing slow courts, are there fast high bouncing courts?

General Advice Tactic against deep angles

Just played a match against an older guy that kept going for a crazy deep forehand angle, once he got the chance. I was always on the run to get to this ball, leading to a high defensive shot, which he then answered with a dropshot to my backhand side.

What is the solution here?

General Advice How to get back into tennis?

I used to play all the time as a kid but then we moved and stopped playing. I haven't played in like 10 years and have no idea where to start. I thought about getting a personal trainer/tennis club but that turns out to be waaay out of my proce range. Any advice would be appreciated!

General Advice Spring break tennis resort in the Southeast for kids and adults

Hi, does anyone have a tennis resort for spring break they recommend?

We live in dc with a late March spring break, so I was thinking something in the Southeast would be a bit warmer and still drivable. Would love to find somewhere with morning drills/match play for adults and clinics for kids (age 8 and 10), and then a heated pool for the afternoon.

I’ve done some initial googling, but having a hard time finding something with morning length kids programming as well.

Equipment Made the switch to the deep fryer

I finally gave up my Pro Staff 97 and let social media influence me to get the Python/Redline/Defyer 98.

Set it up with O Toro Tour at 50/49lbs. Next stringing I’ll just do 50lbs across the board. Added 1 g of weight each at 3 and 9. Honestly played fine without the weight, but figured I’d add on to see and it is a bit more stable. Probably even better with 2g each, but the whole idea of this racket for me was to use something lighter overall than the PS97.

Overall, great racket. Feels very Wilsony, which is exactly what I wanted. Easier power but not too much. It is harder to be precise and change directions with it. For example, from a neutral middle rally I could easily aim a forehand deep to the corner with my ProStaff that is harder to execute with the Defyer. This should improve as I play more with it, but overall I felt I used to be able to aim for a 3ft diameter target with the old racket and now it’s like 4-5ft. The benefit of this is that the new racket rips the ball. Shots on both sides are spinnier and heavier according to my hitting partners. My OHBH especially benefits and I can hit some quality shots that just weren’t as spinny with the old racket.

Serves and volleys are good, and as I’m getting older, I appreciate more help from the racket. My kick and slice serves have a little more bite on them. For anyone else in a similar situation coming from a control racket, especially a Blade or ProStaff, this is a great option to consider. Info about me if it helps on the racket review: UTR 6, eastern FH, OHBH, all court player. Pretty baseline grindy in singles, very aggressive net play in doubles.

Technique Advice Footwork on wide backhands

I can hit my 2hbh harder, more consistently and earlier than my fh. Stretched wide, should I be going for a open or closed stance on hard? I'm 42yo, fast around the court but don't want to hurt myself sliding on hard.
