I thought any windows pc related (ms store and Xbox pc app) were the same. I was about to buy some windows pc games like doom eternal. What should I do?

On a store page, look in the Play With section, if it lists PC | Xbox then it's a Play Anywhere title.  

Doom Eternal isn't.  Doom TDA IS.

It's a dual entitlement title. It's never had cross progression. When 2K26 was on Game Pass, it had a PC version that was completely seperate. So it cannot be called Play Anywhere because of that. Any MyCareer or MyTeam progress or VC bought on the Series version will not move back and forth.

Yea, you turned out to be correct.  

However, 2k did make a proper XPA title out of PGA Tour 2k25.  Different developers still do things differently even though same publisher.

Yeah, but that's a 2 year old game that doesn't have an annual release. With them shuttering servers for NBA 2K25 soon. Visual Concepts relies on the VC sales after the initial sale for their NBA series year after year. The fact that we're getting a PC version for free if we already own it on Xbox, is nice. I can play it with DLSS 5 now.

This is a great idea. If we are buying the digital license you should get it across all platforms, in my opinion. Even for an increased 10-25% charge
