Discussion There’s a publisher/studio that flooded Xbox store with pure 100% AI slop, each game has ‘APG’ in the title. This got to stop!!
Low-effort games have flooded eShop and PSN before, now they are hitting Xbox store, this is so bad that how can these platforms allow this sort of abuse??

Like Those goddamn outbreak games released every week and a new bundle Endlessly.

u/itspicassobaby 16h ago
Xbox said they were cracking down on that last year, and Outbreak guy is still fucking doing it. These shops are full of trash

Why are the comments defending this shite? OP didn't even say it was against TOS.

u/sygrider 22h ago
The TOS comment is very clearly bots considering they're all saying the same thing

The ability to hide your comment history was genuinely one of the worst things to happen to this site, alongside the API changes
Reddit knows it has a huge bot problem, instead of solving it, they tried to hide/mask it so there engagement numbers don't decline

It's the best thing that happened. No more losers combing through post history for 10+ years to use for personal attacks, no more coordinated attacks on one poster to silence them. Now people actually have to respond to the merit of a post and can't easily stalk others.
Only reason you wouldn't want that is if you were one of the weirdos. I bet you have a Meta glasses too and do all sorts of weirdo creep BS if you ever leave your mother's basement.

Oh the irony of this.

Sounds like you were the kind of poster that had incredibly bad takes, and were quick to hide it. All while being hypocritical about personal attacks.
At least with the history, we could see if people were acting in good faith, or just for engagement/trolling. And with the bot problem, proper engagement in discussions feels pretty disingenuous.

Not a bot but I dont look through the xbox store so I never see this stuff.
I dont agree with it but until Microsoft changes something about their rules they are going to keep doing it, but technically anyone can make a title and slap it up there for any price they want.

u/ShabbatShalom666 13h ago
What so the people who develop these games are also developing bots to monitor and respond to any related posts in this sub? I find that hard to believe tbh

People here think less of you if you open the storefront. You're not supposed to look for games to buy, you're supposed to consume what Microsoft picks for you on Game Pass and whatever's advertised to you when you boot up your console.
If you're looking at the storefront, that's a you problem. If you have a problem with the refund policy, that's a you problem. Etc.

This honestly isn't the worst I've seen. Still though, it's reminding me of how bad steam is currently with AI slop.

I want to know sometime how much money AI slop games get from sales in various storefronts.
3
u/Danielor4 19h ago
It just cannot be that much. I usually think that gamalytic is pretty accurate with its income reporting and a lot of slop and shovelware legit makes like $343 at most.

u/SpaceFire000 Outage Survivor '24 18h ago
If it takes a lot less to make then it's a win for them. But they need to make a bundle that includes all of them. I can't search and navigate easily with so many games out there coming out of nowhere

It's so bizarre, because developers keep saying how expensive and difficult it is to port games to Xbox... and then you have five million separate indie studios all porting their slop to Xbox to make exactly 1 sale on their $3.49 game.

This was a fun GDC talk, and they did this before AI slop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8Lhqri8tZk

Can't wait for one of those "Buy 3 games for the price of one" deals and it is all APG games there.

u/mrjonas78 18h ago
I haven't seen these in the Swedish store. Something local or are those games not listed in new games (that has achievements)

u/Sanctine Reclamation Day 17h ago
I'm pretty sure these "games" are part of the creator program. Which means you have to search for them. They won't pop up if you're browsing the store.
Xbox needs to go further. They need to add tools to allow me to hide what I don't want to see. In this case, hiding the developer or publisher would suffice. They need to take a page from Steam's book. Steam gives the user the ideal amount of control.

u/YotzerWriter 16h ago
What amazes me the most is how these publishers have the money to port so many AI slop games to xbox, while some studios with established franchises won't bring their games to Xbox because they claim it's not financially viable.

u/AnonymousFriend80 5h ago
Porting a game to a different platform costs more than just the fee to list them. There UI changes, and making sure the software works in the new systemwith extensive QA. There's purchasing server space to house the files thfor the game to download from, and physical copies needing to be produced.

These at least don't have achievements, since they're creators program games
1
u/Caelis_Vault 15h ago
I cant imagine theyll be getting any sales at all then since these low effort slop games are basically carried by easy achievements.

Damn that's expensive for the Turkish store. I bought plenty of Metacritic 85+ for much less than that.

u/OrfeasDourvas Touched Grass '24 22h ago
Wait, are you really in Turkey or have you figured out a way to make it work again?

I'd love hide a game feature, like steam, so I don't see absolute trash and stuff I decided to skip on. Self moderation so to speak. There's always something to buy anyway.

how can these platforms allow this sort of abuse
Abuse? As long as it's not violating any terms of service it's fine for the store and in addition they are making money (30%) from ever game sold.

u/zuzucha 22h ago
It still makes the browsing experience shittier

u/SpaceFire000 Outage Survivor '24 20h ago
Xbox store browsing experience is shit in console, ms store, Xbox pc app. They need to improve it asap. I wanted to buy some games recently and got bored navigating back and forth. They should just copy steam FFS
-97
u/MasterOfPipettez 23h ago
What are they abusing exactly? I dont think they are doing anything against the TOS.
26
u/Apprehensive_Law1458 22h ago
You can’t argue that they are doing it in good faith. This is so clearly exploiting the systems in place to make easy money. Pretty much a scam. And the disconted price is obviously dishonest as well.

Doesn’t it take about 5 seconds to scroll past these things? Yeah it’s shit but not really a big deal imo.

Yes ok, I hear you, and you are right.. but go with me for a minute.. have you heard the good word of the Beautiful Sakura games?
https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/beautiful-sakura-volleyball-club-2/9plslshls1r3

u/smashingcones 20h ago
What good word? They're AI slop that requires pressing A a bunch of times to unlock all achievements with zero actual gameplay.
May as well just bing image search "hentai" and save yourself the money. Or play DOAX2 if you want actual volleyball and boob physics lol

Would be nice to have a “hide publisher” option, would make browsing the store a lot less cluttered
