Was a little shocked by the price before considering that this is a very specialized peripheral with a lot more going on obviously than your standard controller.
It's a shame though because I'm intrigued enough by Flight Sim to think I'd enjoy it a lot more with a more tailored/intuitive control layout, but not enough to spend almost $200 on a controller tbh. Although for all I know that's a bargain compared to a proper setup.

I think you can get a Thrustmaster HOTAS flight stick/throttle for about $100 for the Xbox version and $60 for the PS3/PC version.

I have one, but it doesn’t work with ace combat 8

This is where my mind is at, if the controller is of quality then its price is competitive with even just a decent joystick let alone anything else.

Absolutely, even the first party xbox elite controllers are $199

And the quality on those is horrible.

I haven’t had issues with mine except losing the magnetic sticks. Wish they would lock in a little better

In a few decades, this will become this generation’s Steel Battalion controller.

The cost of making it an officially licensed wireless controller is what bumps the cost up so much. Unless you're Gamesir (who probably has a terrible profit margin off of the stuff they sell) then it's hard to price a licensed wireless controller under $150, it seems. Especially one with the complexity this one has.
If you wait a few months and check Amazon or Best Buy's website then it's easy to find like new or open box deals around $100 though. Even though the prices are high I do appreciate the ecosystem of Xbox controllers out there. Sony licenses wireless controllers, but they're stripped of any haptic feedback, and they don't license the adaptive controller tech at all. You have the Dualsense Edge or mod kits if you want those features.

Invite the boys over for splitscreen Halo and give them these

At that price.... Best I can do is an odd off brand clear controller with incorrect buttons.

Oh my lord, this would have been kick-ass for Star Wars: Squadrons.

You know some crazy bastard is going to figure out how to fly a real plane with this thing

Would probably be great for a submarine

There are UAVs that can be flown with Xbox/PS controllers. Kids already know how to use 'em, so it cuts down on training.

Now they've got my attention. Ive wanted a hotas setup for a few years but don't have the room, this might fill that slot perfectly.

Fuck I kinda want one just for the fun of it. I have a ton of controllers and would be a cool collectors thing but barely used and expensive

My first thought was that I want to see someone use this to play a modded version of Steel Battalion from the OG Xbox

I wish the POV hat was on the opposite side of the controller. When doing tight turns you sometimes want to be able to spin the camera, you can’t do that if they are both on the left.

Can we please get a new version of the standard xbox controller? I think xbox leaves a ton of improvements on the table, and as we’ve seen with the ps5 controller with the adaptive triggers it can be a selling point for the hardware. Providing more durable analogue sticks and maybe a controller option with rechargeable batteries would be a start.

It's pretty annoying the revision controller was canned. Would have loved that.

Someone who owns a PS5.
I don't get the adaptive triggers love. A lot of games don't utilize them, I found them quite annoying when I had them turned on (I usually turn off Vibration on my controllers), the battery life in the Dual sense is abysmal and they drain the battery pretty hard when in use.
Dual sense also get stick drift (I've seen more people complain about stick drift than on Series X controllers). It's not like they have Hall Effect sticks.
We do have an option of removable battery via Battery packs. Plus you can just buy rechargeable batteries.
The more I dissect your comment the more I'm starting to think you don't even play on Xbox and just want to spout whatever info you can think to make Xbox look bad (when they are the reason controllers look/feel the way they do because of how Popular the X360 controllers were).

When I play cyberpunk, the adaptive triggers for me really immerses me. When I pull a gun trigger or accelerate on my car, it feeeels sooo good.

The dualsense normal controller will 100% in its life get that problem, I switched to the PlayStation pro edge controller and it’s my fav controller yet. Only reason why I love ps5

I’ve been trying to get a hold of a Honeycomb Echo for a year now. They always sell out instantly.
Let’s see if they manage to produce enough.

I am curious to see how this controller is used in various 'Souls'-like runs by content creators. Still, it’s a pretty cool-looking controller tho.

If it’s anything like the elite series controllers, the QC is gonna be garbage. Buttons will start sticking or stop working after 3-6 months.

u/Public_Fucking_Media 12h ago
Why would this third party controller made by a company that specializes in high quality sim gear be anything like that?

So the only difference is the $180 one works on Xbox and has a TMR stick instead of Hall Effect? So $30 microsoft tax?

Someone is gonna use this to beat Elden Ring without getting hit.
