This is the worst time in Xbox history to be a Xbox gamer. 7 year old console. $800 for a 7 year old console that was $275 a year after release and $300 for years. Xbox gave Playstation all their exclusives. Claimed your microwave and toaster were also Xbox's. Playstation released a Pro console years ago and Xbox did nothing.

It's arguably just a really bad time to be a gamer in general.
Not only has Xbox had Console price increase but Sony and Nintendo had as well.
In regards to Sony. They have probably released 40-50% the amount of games they did for PS4 and not every one of them is doing well (Marathon has struggled massively, Helldivers 2 hype has also died down. Even with an Xbox release . Wolverine didn't sell as much as they had hoped nor did the review well, Spider Man 2 was also not commercially successful either). They have pretty much abandoned PSVR 2(who didn't see that coming?) and they are stopping disc production which has turned a lot of people against Sony and now they have the massive Jailbreaker exploit that's only getting worse (better) as the days go by.
Nintendo are still hung on the Switch. It's hard to go from one of the best selling consoles ever to now trying to get that audience and newer people to pick up the next "upgrade" in the switch 2 when people aren't that pushed due to financial or personal reasons. They have/had that massive Palworld lawsuit that has completely gone against them so they don't have control on "monster-catching" patients, Rights etc
There's hasn't been much Nintendo downfall (imo) but for Xbox and PS5 I think this generation has been equally bad for both of them just for different reasons. But out of the 2 I think Sony are going down a deeper path of being tones deaf of what their customer what's vs how to get max profits.
At least with Asha it seems Xbox has been listening to the community more and trying to turn the ship. So we will see what happens over the next few years. But as it stands. It's a really bad time to be a gamer imo.

Switch 2 basically has the same problem as the Wii U did over a decade ago. It was preceded by a HUGELY succesful product, bought not just by gamers but also by lots of general consumers. And that succesful product (Wii / switch 1) was also discounted to oblivion late in the life cycle. So many of those customers stuck / stick with their Wii / switch 1 for literally a decade, cause it was cheap entertainment and still great for their use case and the successor launched into a financially tough time for lots of people (the financial crisis was just over but people were still suffering the consequences when the Wii U launched and the switch 2 launched into inflation armageddon).
Both Wii U and Switch 2 never did and never will live up to the expectations placed upon them by the succes of the previous generation.

The most popular games on the switch 1 were ports and/or remasters from the Wii U versions. There's a reason for that. Wii U had great games, but the system just failed horribly, mostly due to Nintendo and their marketing combined with some bad luck.

I agree, it is like that. 😂 Atleast commercially. NES and SNES were both great, but since then? N64 was great, gamecube was a failure, Wii was great, Wii U was a failure, Switch 1 was great, Switch 2 isn't doing as well it seems.
Somehow it was different with their handhelds pre-switch though. Gameboy was great, gameboy color was great, gameboy advance was great, DS was great, 3DS was still pretty good considering the smartphone dominance by then.

Spiderman 2 was commercially successful.
Don't listen to Reddit complaints and narrative. It sold 18 million copies. It was the fastest selling game made by PlayStation selling 2.5 million in it's first 24 hours. It beat Mario and Sonic that released games at the same time and won D.I.C.E awards.
There are plenty of complaints about story pacing, length and the like but to say it wasn't successful is well wide of the mark.

I myself know that it was commercially successful.
But from Sony PoV it wasn't as successful as they wished it had. They wanted it to ship 50+ million console, to reach at least 100+ million copies. It never reached those heights.
Because Sony is ran by "Yes" men that look at numbers and think "yeah we should aim this high because our stats show this specific path to growth".
If SM2 was as successful as they had wished it would have never been released on PC to push more sales.
I probably could have said SM 2 didn't sell as mush as Sony had hopped rather than not being Commercially successful. I was just thinking from Sony PoV when I wrote what I did.

Apart from you making all that up. 100 million is ludicrous. Only the likes of tetris and GTA have done that (and GTA was over about 4 releases of the same game and multiple platforms).
The insomniac leak showed an expectation of 10.5 million sales. Break even started at 5.5 rising to 7.2 million.

Lowest on a Series X was Target red circle or the online or GameStop Bundle going for $350. Like that deal was incredible - and lot of gamers brushed off the opportunity to upgrade.
Or maybe the demographic is different when compared to Sony because people were upgrading as soon as they came in stock

Same here. I got all Xbox consoles since OG and this is the least I've ever played my Xbox. Especially given that I can play E-day on my PC and GTA 6 on my PS5 pro. If Xbox had a pro model than I would definitely choose that, since I prefer the Xbox controller.

There is 6 PlayStation exclusive for every 1 Xbox exclusive, 90% of Xbox games are available on PlayStation, while PS only gave them Helldivers.
PS did SIGNIFICANTLY better than XB, it’s hard to put into words how big the gap is.

Dolby Vision isn't for gaming. Legit if ur TV is more than $500 DVG will make it look worse. Just use HGiG and setup HDR properly. DV is for media xd

My Series X literally has A feature called Dolby Vision for gaming you haven't played on A Series X or Series S or you would know that. Series consoles doesn't have HGiG😅 and it's better to use Dolby Vision for gaming than standard HDR. I'm surprised no one corrected you yet

As a consumer I want exclusives that use a system’s exclusive features. Whether that should be a thing is the question, but as long as Joy-Cons and DualSense don’t work on other consoles the games built around them have to be exclusive and I like those enough to be fine with exclusivity. I’m not gonna pass up Astrobot just because the other systems don’t support DualSense features.

They pick one exclusive they have and two popular games. And then they say "You can only play these three games on Xbox"

This sub don't really have many real Xbox fans. They are 100% fine with PlayStation exclusives but get pissed at the idea of Xbox exclusives. I for one can't wait for Xbox to make elder scrolls, fable, halo and everything else they make inhouse Xbox exclusive so that people actually have a reason to choose Xbox over PlayStation. Otherwise Xbox won't exist after next generation. The big picture isn't exclusives are bad for gamers because Sony refuses to stop. The big picture is less competition is bad for gamers and Microsoft abandoning Xbox because of bad sales is bad for gamers

All their games come to PC day 1 that’s something else they have to address, exclusives don’t work to sell consoles as much if they aren’t truly the only place or platform they are available on. No one’s gonna want to admit it but everything day 1 PC is hurting the console sales and console value even more than the games they put on PS5

Most PC gamers don’t want a console. If you think in the current financial climate that taking games off PC is going to have PC gamers rushing out to spend 700+ on another piece of hardware to play a handful of games I think you’re crazy personally.
Xbox have created a combined Console and PC ecosystem and it’s pretty awesome if you are using both or just a PC gamer who has no interest in a console. There’s no way taking games away from PC at this point isn’t going to be a huge net negative. It’s nothing like another console.

It feels like arguing with Trump/Reform supporters when it comes to exclusivity. 10% of console owners actually buy exclusives, they usually cost more than most of the 3rd party games out there and you want them to restrict their sales to one device... the less money these studios make, less likely they will survive. The pressure their under to do good as well cuz if they screw up, it's a lot of jobs gone... at least selling to every platform, you have more chance on a bad game to make some money back. As a dev you probably are gonna take less risks, less innovation just incase those don't pan out. I get keep the CORE games exclusive like, Gears, Halo, Forza, Fable etc but stuff like Fallout, COD, ES is just plain dumb. It's not going to suddenly make millions of people sell their PS to move over to Xbox. Maybe 15years ago but now, with consoles over 500, most of us having digital libraries we've spent 1000s on over the years, people don't want to just let them go.
Personally I'd keep newer Games exclusive like Gears, Fable, Halo, Forza would be timed as 5 sold over 6 mil copies on PS so that's not something to ignore. Fallout/ES should be timed only exclusive. COD should be for everyone as that game makes a ton.

If XBOX wants to stop sucking they'll go full exclusive. It's annoying that Playstation gets to keep Marvel games off XBOX platforms yet people are telling MS to hand their games over to Sony? Hell naw.
Playstation has GT why the fuck would they need Forza? XBOX is gonna continue to decline as a hardware unless they give people a reason to come to their box. Not just core franchises. I dont care how expensive consoles are, if XBOX makes everything exclusive gamers candy-asses will go out and buy an XBOX. Digital libraries can always be rebuilt. No one is telling then to sell their Playstation. XBOX is in a better position when they have millions more boxes in the living room not less.

I hate my Series X. Its the worst console with the worst games ever. Im so glad i have a ps5 also. I only play Forza and Halo on my XBOX.
The PS5 has just a much better user experience. The menu is smooth, the story games are great, i can use my usb peripherals (dac/amp, microphone, headsets)
Imo the only people defending XBOX, are people who dont have a PS5.

Except Nobody Wants To or Is Playing Gears E-Day , that being the Only Exclusive on the List you can still Play the 2 games people actually want to Play on PS5 & P.C. in 2-5 Months.
Last I'll Say C.O.D. MW4 isn't coming to GamePass so you'll have to buy it.
Valor Mortis , Dune Awakening , FH.6 all on Gamepass & We Got Metro 2033 , Stranger Then Heaven & WoLong 2 also all Coming to Gamepass soon though.

I concur that XBOX needs to come back to exclusives. Glad E-Day made the list. If Sharma makes Elder Scrolls, the next Doom, or Fallout exclusive then we'll have true competition versus Playstation and their Marvel games.

I don't understand being proud of gatekeeping. I get that it's a necessity because all the competitors are focused on exclusives and there needs to be a purpose in buying a console.

Still. Yelling promotions on just Twitter is far from enough. Man needs to be replaced with someone who really understands how to market Xbox worldwide and not some places here and there with Xbox McDonald’s collab posters.
