I can get behind this. Though i think it should come with some sort of stick protection if they want people shoving this in their pockets

That’s what the $45 officially licensed cases will be for.
And why wouldn’t you? Cheaper than a new one!

So basically a beefed up SNES pad?
Cool.

Looks to me like a squared off SN30 Pro with the dpad and stick swapped. I think it'll be a lot more comfortable to use the sticks than on the SN30 Pro.

u/RidleyDeckard 2d ago
I’ve got the 8bitdo Xbox Android that is roughly this size and it’s great to throw in a bag for when I going away.
It’s even better when they updated it to work with Apple devices as well.

Wasn't this controller supposed to be the xcloud controller with direct wifi connection? Did they scrap that idea all together?
43
7
u/nikolapc 2d ago
It may have wifi but they didn't announce that yet(probably with the xcloud announcment), and it can probably be turned on by firmware update.

With this new ABXY font/design I think that about confirms the elite series 3 leaks

29
u/cbigle 2d ago
I hope they add this to design lab soon, it would be awesome to customize this with my kid instead of generic white

u/RS_Games Outage Survivor '24 2d ago
Cant see this being high enough volume to justify design lab. Controller seems very 8bitdo, so they could be the manufacturer

This is great for kids. My 4 year old can hold this much easier than a normal controller. The native wireless connection to Xbox in a small controller with rechargeable batteries makes this a perfect first controller for kids imo.

u/Derwurld 2d ago
Same, been waiting for something like this!

u/SuccessHelpful 2d ago
I was literally on a rant about the lack of small controllers for my little dude the other day. “If someone made a controller half the size of the Xbox controller they would corner the market” sure enough 3 weeks later this pops up. Looking forward to playing games with my kiddo.

This is something my wife has been asking for since we started gaming with one another. It’s an instant buy.
24
u/darkdeath174 Day One - 2013 2d ago
So they stripped the direct to cloud stuff out of it, now it's just a small controller for the go
Wonder if the Elite 3 will also keep it or if they cut that out as well.
7
u/Tobimacoss 2d ago
Both were meant to have D2C, maybe it was too costly for this controller. Elite Series 3 will likely be the testbed.

Looks a neat little piece of gear to have.

I like it. But I don’t understand, it’s something that helps enable cloud gaming, but we want to reduce how much cloud gaming you can get?

This was probably deep into the product lifecycle when that as announced. These companies aren't as in step with their individual units as you would think.

Is this the one that connects directly to the cloud? Is that what it means when they say it has XBOX Wireless?
→ More replies (2)9
u/JP76 2d ago
Xbox wireless is Microsoft's proprietary protocol used on Xbox consoles. Microsoft tried to bring it to PCs, but it didn't catch on.

u/Hunk4thSurvivor 2d ago
You're right. So this connects via bluetooth to smartTVs. I wonder why the rumours were that this was a cloud controller.
3
u/quadsimodo 2d ago
Think they were working on one for a while with their now-canned streaming box, kinda like Stadia. Would still make sense to release on if they’re serious about xCloud.

This has me excited as well. I don’t typically play mobile but as extra controllers for when people are over or bring on the plane, it’s cool. Love how it looks like the SNES a bit
2
u/detectiveDollar 2d ago
Definitely , it always felt weird to break out a full size Xbox controller for something like Fushion Frenzy. That, portability, and gamecube controller support is why I mostly buy party games on Switch.

This is going to be awesome when traveling! I currently bring my XBox controller, a smaller one will be nice to travel with.
2
u/CincoQuallity 2d ago
That’s decent. I’d pick one up to pair with my tablet for cloud gaming, if they didn’t severely limit cloud gaming. I used to grab a month of Ultimate now and again to play something new, but that 15 hour limit is rough. Not exactly worth it anymore for someone who just used Ultimate for cloud gaming.

Players can pre-order the XBOX Nano Controller beginning today for $49.99 USD. It will be available beginning in November in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Czechia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Guatemala, Hong Kong SAR, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Trinidad & Tobago, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with additional markets to follow.
Was interested until I saw the country list. They're releasing it the LatAm countries where they have "presence", except Chile. Not sure if due to regulatory approval, or they're just skipping the country.

u/ggonzalez105 Still Finishing The Fight 2d ago
I love the idea of this controller (not the color), but those “wings” at the bottom were made for comfort and ergonomics. This controller doesn’t look like it’s built for long sessions.
2
u/skylu1991 2d ago
People were fine playing NES and SNES without wings….
It’s also arguably NOT for the people who would do 7 hour sessions, but for children, people with small hands and those who stream.

They should include the connection to the cloud directly. They lost the opportunity. It is outdated already.

Giving you 2 months of GP and a free controller with the purchase of a quest or Samsung tv is a pretty sick deal for people buying those things.
2
u/Dr_Ummachine 2d ago
But then you only get like what is it now? 15 hours a month of game time with the cloud streaming?

ooo I love this! This pad will be perfect for more old school games either on my Xbox or PC. I'm in
1
u/dude52760 2d ago
I actually think this is sick and will probably pick up a few. I actually have a ton of Xbox controllers overall, but this could be a solid travel option. I have been traveling for work multiple times the last 3-4 years and it’s been hit or miss whether or not my Xbox controller breaks in my luggage. I’ve lost two controllers because travel was rough on their bumpers. Will have to see how sturdy/compact this thing is, at the very least it will take up less room in my bags when I do travel.

u/steponmemarasov 2d ago

I’m surprised this hasn’t came out sooner such a great idea I might actually buy it. It is annoying when going on a plane and bringing your controller to play games on your phone all big and bulky and this fits in your pocket genius
1
u/ElSmasho420 2d ago
Adorable. Sign me up.
I don’t think I’ll be using this for Galactic Racer but stuff like arcade compilations (that don’t need six attack buttons) will be great.
1
u/OminousG 2d ago
I had one of these shaped controllers for the Xbox one, I couldn't get myself to enjoy it. It has that SNES feel to it, but there's to much crammed into it since you have 2 extra joysticks and 2 extra shoulder buttons. So the feel is off and awkward.
It was the Hyperkin X91.
1
1
u/01scriptboi 2d ago
does it have any rumble motors?
2
u/Virtual-Pie-6815 2d ago
This is something I'd really like to know along with battery life. I can do without trigger rumble but would really like some traditional rumble, even if it's relatively weak.
I can pick up a SN30 Pro plus a phone clip for half the price of one of these but they have no rumble. If the Nano has no rumble either then I may as well get the SN30 Pro instead.

Dude I went away on holiday over half of August and the first week of September, ended up taking my FH6 controller with me to cloud game, was fun sure but this is genuinely really freaking convenient! You could totally slip it into a backpack and just not have to worry about it getting bashed up
Hell, my desktop currently has a racing wheel permanently stationed there so this might be a fix for that as well if I just wanna goof off in Forza or sumn

Honestly I'm super excited for this, I've got two CRKD Neo S controller that I keep in my travel bag to use with my ROG Ally.
They're great travel controllers but for some odd reason the guide button doesn't work on windows 11 correctly when using them wirelessly so it makes it a pain.
This is gonna fix my biggest pain point with the Neo S and on top of that being able to switch between console and PC is gonna get me more use out of them
1
u/Against-The-Current 2d ago
I need this within 5 days before I go on vacation lol, this would be perfect for the plane
1
1
u/CharlesB43 2d ago
Pretty cool looking, I worry about stick drift with it, also I know it'd be more cost, but if they're touting this as a travel controller then some sort of case would be good.
Hell, I bought a third party controller and it came with a plastic travel case, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that a big company could have included one.
1
u/Initial-Nebula-4704 2d ago
Stuff has gotten so expensive they even downside the controller to be more affordable
1
1
1
u/udubdavid 2d ago
This might actually be good for people who travel, like me. I wonder if they make a travel case for it. Otherwise, just throwing it in my luggage will cause stick drift. I know from experience, unfortunately.

u/PerfectPlan 2d ago
Have to try it, but without any separation, it looks like I'd get lots of accidental bumper presses when using the triggers.

im kinda stuck on the stick tech at this price point... are we getting hall effect or tmr? if its basic carbon pots i might pass, but if they somehow squeezed in premium sticks for fifty bucks that'd be insane... just worried about drift long term honestly...

u/CapitalCityGoofball0 2d ago
Seems like the xcloud controller. i like the form factor (though I wish the analog and d pad was switched). Alas I have a feeling I’m going to hate those shoulder buttons being on top of each other.
Also what’s with the white only? Feels like some material holdover from the 360 days.

u/icomein3d 2d ago
I'm hopeful for this for my playing games with my daughter. She is 5 and struggles a bit with the size of my Gamesir G7

u/Feeling_Public6522 2d ago
I’ve always loved small controllers. I remember having a “mini” Xbox controller and I adored it. It felt perfect. Was so easy to get torque and leverage on the stick. Can’t remember it or find pics online. I just remember it was like, camo green and I bought it at Blockbuster
