Self-appointed work encourager. His main contribution is blocking my monitor, but I'll take it.

See photos - engineering office so some of the equipment and clutter has to stay but need some advice on how to make it more professional and a better place to spend the work time!

Not pictured is some office space due to customer info being on the walls as well as a microwave in the “kitchen” area.

Employees are all classic engineers and havnt cared thus far but I want to revamp it since we’re looking to hire!

🖼️ • Photos Budget WFH setup in a shared apartment (with treadmill+dual monitors)

I work from home and share an apartment to save on rent, so I've been keeping my home office pretty low-budget. Nothing fancy, but I've got pretty much everything I need.

Here's the setup:

Desk: electric standing desk from Amazon (no brand)

Monitors: Dell S2421HN 24" *2

Walking pad: DeerRun Z10 Pro

Chair: from Facebook Marketplace

Monitor light: Motumen LED light bar

P.S. The walking pad has wheels, so I can just roll it out of the way when I want to sit, pretty easy.

They call it “executive desk”, but I’m just a regular remote worker.😅 Now I understand why it got the name. Cool and comfortable with such a big desk to work at.

Do you think I should move the desk somewhere else? That way I’d either be facing the window or facing the wall while I work. Which setup would you choose?

Moving to new house where I can can dedicated office.
I always had my desks behind the window but apparently that is wrong?

Room is 3.5m x 3.0m
Desk 1 (long, main office)
Desk 2

P1S + Stand (maybe an IKEA table)

The two desks are 183x63 and a 140x70. The room has this annoying arch so I might have to block part of the window with the P1S table.

Is this layout better than putting the two desks behind each window ?

❔ • Feedback Does anyone actually prefer having their desk face the wall?

I keep seeing setups where the desk is pushed right up against a wall. Makes sense for saving space and hiding cables, but I wonder if it starts feeling a little cramped after a while.

Anyone here tried both? Which layout did you end up liking more?

I’m away from my home and my comfortable setup for a few months so here’s how I’m working in the meantime.

- Framework 13: personal work laptop. I’m used to work provided MacBooks but didn’t want to pay the premium myself and I’m very happy with this. Running on Fedora.
- old-ish iPad Pro: that doesn’t get any updates from Apple anymore. I tried to use it as a second monitor but none of the Remote Desktop solution I vaguely tried work.
- Roost V3: This is a life saver as I’m a tall guy and sitting at a round dinner table on a cheap chair so getting some elevation helps my back and neck.
- Sony WH-1000XM5: Primary headphones. Connected to the laptop and used for meetings
- Apple AirPod Pro: Used to watch videos in the background on the iPad
- NocFree &: I’ve been a split keyboard user for year and had been looking to upgrade from my Mistel MD770 so when this came out I jumped on it. At its core really good but some design flaws with the accessories.
- Logitech G Pro: temporary using my gaming mice. I’m used to using a Magic Trackpad and I do miss it dearly.

I’m pretty happy with how things are given the circumstances. I’m really missing my ergonomic chair, sit stand desk and dual 27” screens, can’t wait to get back to them!

❔ • Feedback guys i need your help 😭🌱 anyone here who works or studies on their balcony?

Hi everyone! 💗 I'm a Product Design student researching how people use small balconies for working, studying, and gardening. I'd love to hear about your experiences!

  1. Do you ever work or study on your balcony? What does your setup look like?
  2. What's the most annoying thing about using your balcony as a workspace?
  3. How do you fit your desk, plants, and gardening tools into a small space?
  4. Does your balcony ever feel too crowded?
  5. Do you have to move things around when switching between working and gardening?
  6. How do you keep water and soil away from your laptop and other electronics?
  7. Have you ever had problems with rain, humidity, or strong sunlight?
  8. Where do you usually keep your gardening tools and supplies?
  9. What makes working on your balcony uncomfortable or inconvenient?
  10. If you could change one thing about your balcony setup, what would it be?

Feel free to answer whichever questions you relate to! Even small details would really help with my research. Thank youuu 🥹🌱
