Developer Aqueli: a free, offline all-in-one organiser for Windows with a Frutiger Aero look

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I've been working on Aqueli, a personal organiser for Windows 11 that keeps everything on your PC.

It brings your tasks, calendar, notes, journal, habits, projects, lists, contacts, documents, goals and budget together in one app. There's no account to create, no cloud and no subscription. Your data is encrypted with your password, and you can unlock it with Windows Hello too if you like. The app also works without an internet connection.

The look is a modern take on the glossy, sky-blue style of the late 2000s: frosted glass, soft light and bright colours. There are 31 themes, light and dark, each with its own illustrations and sounds.

A few other things you might like:
- Write a task the way you'd say it, and Aqueli fills in the date and time
- Jot something down from anywhere in Windows with a shortcut
- Import your tasks, events and contacts from a spreadsheet, your calendar or your phone
- 17 languages, and a separate account for everyone who shares the PC

It's free and open source (GPL-3.0). The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows will ask for confirmation the first time you run it. Everything is on Github for you to check for yourself.

Website: https://areemi-app.github.io/aqueli/
Download and source: https://github.com/Areemi-app/aqueli

I'd love to hear what you think, and what you'd like to see next.

Developer I built a swipe app for going through all my old files

• Upvotes

Hi! I'm the solo developer of GetSpace.

Going through all my old files in Finder or Explorer (desktop, downloads, photos, documents) always took forever, so I never did it. So I built an app that shows **one file at a time with a big preview**: ← delete, → keep, ↓ skip, M move to another folder, R rename.

- **Your files stay on your computer.** Works offline, no account.

- **Nothing is deleted right away.** You get a summary first, then it all goes to the Trash (never permanently).

- Mac and Windows.

Stack: Tauri 2 (Rust + React), a tiny license server on Cloudflare Workers + D1, Stripe for payments.

Free for 200 files on day one, then 50 a day. Pro is €19.99 once, no subscription.

https://getspace.site/

What would make you actually use something like this?

Developer I built a free, open-source clipboard manager for Windows that hides on the edge of your screen

Hi everyone! I got tired of losing things I copied 10 minutes ago, and Win+V felt too small, so I built Edge Clipboard.

It lives as a thin line on the edge of the screen. Move the mouse there (or press Ctrl+Alt+E) and your clipboard history slides out. Move away and it hides again.

What it does

  • Keeps text, images and files you copy (up to 1000 items; pinned items are kept forever)
  • Tabs by type: files, images, videos, audio, docs, text, links, emoji, each with a count
  • Click to copy, or paste straight back into the app you were using
  • Select just part of a long text and copy only that part
  • Drag items out to other apps, or drop files onto the panel to keep them
  • Merge several items into one, and split them back
  • Built-in emoji picker
  • Works with Arabic/RTL and mixed text, and search ignores diacritics
  • Left or right edge; pick the handle length, thickness and colour; light and dark mode

Privacy: it makes no network connections. Everything stays in a folder on your PC.

Download (Windows 10/11, free): https://github.com/alimwork85-web/edge-clipboard/releases/latest Source code (MIT): https://github.com/alimwork85-web/edge-clipboard

The installer isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may ask once (More info → Run anyway).

It's my own side project, so feedback and feature ideas are very welcome. What would make you switch from your current clipboard tool?

Developer strypt 0.3.0: free, portable app that strips hidden metadata from photos and documents, now in Send To

Post image
2 Upvotes

Photos, PDFs and Office files often carry information you can't see: the GPS location where a photo was taken, your camera or phone's serial number, your name and organisation in a Word document, edit history and timestamps. Share the file and that information goes with it.

strypt removes it. It's a single portable .exe with no installer. Drop files onto the window, or as of 0.3.0, select them in File Explorer and use Show more options ▸ Send to ▸ strypt. It writes a cleaned copy beside each file and shows what it removed, grouped as location, device, personal details and timestamps. Your originals are left untouched.

About the Send To entry:

  • You add and remove it from inside the app with Add strypt and Remove. No registry edits, no admin rights, no shell extension running inside Explorer. It's an ordinary shortcut in your own Send To folder.
  • Keep the .exe on a lettered drive (like C:) in a folder whose path uses only plain English letters.
  • If you move the .exe, the app notices and offers to update the entry.
  • Tested on Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2.

Also worth knowing:

  • Fully offline, with no network code. No telemetry, no update checks, no accounts.
  • If it can't fully clean a file, it gives you nothing rather than a half-cleaned copy.
  • Free and open source (MIT or Apache-2.0), written in Rust.

Supported: JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, HEIF/AVIF, SVG, JPEG XL, PDF, Word/Excel/PowerPoint, LibreOffice files, FLAC, WAV, MP3, Ogg and MP4/M4A. Anything else is reported as unsupported, never passed through silently.

The .exe isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen will warn you on first launch: click More info ▸ Run anyway. Release binaries come with GitHub build attestations if you'd like to verify where the file came from.

Feedback is very welcome. If a cleaned file still carries hidden data, please report it privately through SECURITY.md on the repo.

Disclosure: I made it.

Developer I made a Japanese-language Windows app for reusable file sets (Matome Tray)

Hi, I'm the developer of Matome Tray (まとめトレイ), a small Windows app for handing off the same groups of local files repeatedly.

It stores named sets of file references. For example, “Submission” and “Sharing” can both point to the same PDF; replacing a cover image in Submission leaves Sharing as it was. You can drag a whole set or selected files to a folder or an app that accepts standard Windows file drops. The app presents the drop as Copy only; please check what the receiving app actually does. Matome Tray itself does not move, edit, or delete your original files.

The UI is Japanese, and the current 0.1.2 build has been checked on Windows 11 x64. It is an unsigned ZIP; if Windows shows a protection warning, stop rather than bypass it. The full-featured trial lasts 14 days from first launch. The paid license is a one-time ¥980 in Japan (tax included; the checkout shows the final currency and total).

Official product and trial page: https://jentraxis-software.pages.dev/en/share/matome-tray-reddit-202610/

If this workflow fits what you do, the official page offers the 14-day trial ZIP and the one-time paid license.

Developer I made a tiny dwarf blacksmith who forges above the Windows taskbar

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm making My Desktop Dwarf: Taskbar Forge. Brokk lives above the Windows taskbar and swings his hammer when you type or click. You can move or resize the forge, turn down its effects, and mute it.

The free Windows demo on Steam takes you through copper, bronze and your first iron item. There is no playtime limit: you can keep forging and collecting afterward, and keep using only the demo if that is enough for you.

Free demo: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5167500/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=organic_social&utm_campaign=mdd_prelaunch_2026q3&utm_content=windowsapps_taskbar_20261022

It counts key and mouse-button presses, not the text you type, and gameplay works offline. For transparency, I used AI assistance for coding and 2D assets, with review and refinement, plus machine translation for localization.

Where would you put a little forge like this on your desktop?

Developer I built Glass Desktop Box: a customizable Windows desktop workspace with cross platform browser-based live file sharing

I’m the founder of Rangsdorfer Software Company in Germany. After more than a year of development, I’m proud to introduce Glass Desktop Box - a platform that brings desktop personalization, visual organization, and interactive file sharing together in one application.

Your desktop can be animated and expressive or calm and distraction-free. Choose from 233 animations or 500 static backgrounds to create an environment that suits your style.

Organize your files and folders in Organizer Boxes, and use Workspace Boxes for interactive file sharing and collaboration. Invite customers, colleagues, or friends to join through their browser—without installing the application or creating an account. Shared folders retain their structure, including subfolders.

The desktop application runs on Windows 10 and 11 and 365, while browser-based file sharing connects people across Windows, macOS, Android, and Linux. A Windows host can exchange files with guests on these platforms, bringing everyone into a shared workspace. All included in one program.

Glass Desktop Box is built around one idea: your desktop should be more than a place to store icons. It should be a personal workspace that looks the way you want and helps you work with others.

I’d love to hear your questions, comments, and feedback.

Developer Glassline 1.0.10 for Windows 11: Launchpad, Mac-style screenshots with Alt Shift 4, and a menu bar that hides itself

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

Hey everyone! Glassline 1.0.10 is with Microsoft now and should land in a day 🎉 Launchpad, one-drag screenshots, dynamic glass, Wallpaper Engine support, a new app panel and a long list of fixes from the last days of testing. Yes, I said "biggest update yet" last time... and it happened again 😅 So here's everything in it.

New here? Glassline turns the Windows 11 taskbar into a glass menu bar at the top and a dock at the bottom, like on a Mac. You get Search on the Windows key, Control Center, your calendar and the weather right in the bar. Quit it whenever you want and your taskbar comes back exactly as it was. You can try it in your browser first.

Already using Glassline? 1.0.10 comes through the Store on its own once Microsoft approves it. I didn't want the update to change things under your feet, so the new stuff that changes how it works (the screenshot keys, the logo, the Calendar icon, the Wallpaper Engine colours and the two-sided bar text) starts switched off for you. The What's new pages after the update have a switch for each one, or you can turn them on in Settings.

Launchpad, like on a Mac

This one I'm really proud of. Click the Apps icon in the dock and it grows right out of the icon into a full screen of all your apps, page after page. Close it and it shrinks back into the dock.

Drag apps into any order, drop one on another to make a folder, click a folder's name to rename it. Search's grid button and All Apps open it too, and the Apps icon can go anywhere in your dock now. While Launchpad is open the dock and the menu bar get out of its way, and it has its own new icon.

Mac-style screenshots, finally done right

Alt Shift 4, drag over what you want, let go. Done.

No Snipping Tool window, no hunting for where the file went: it's on your desktop. A little preview slides into the corner and leaves on its own (click it to open the picture). Want it copied instead? Hold Ctrl when you let go of the drag. Alt Shift 3 grabs the whole screen and always saves it to your desktop. Works over games and admin apps too.

Dynamic glass

Every panel now picks up the colour of whatever is behind it: menus, Search, Control Center, Settings, Quick Look, the volume pop-up, and even the dock if you tint it. White page behind it? It goes light. Dark game? It goes dark.

The menu bar can also read the left and right side of your wallpaper separately, so a half light, half dark wallpaper stays readable.

  • Separate dock background (Settings, Appearance): the menu bar and the dock each get their own background slider, so you can have a fully clear menu bar over a glass dock. Someone here asked for exactly this 🙏
  • Tint the dock like the menu bar (Settings, Dock): when the bar takes a maximized app's colour, the dock takes it too

Wallpaper Engine support

A lot of you asked for this one. Glassline now works with Wallpaper Engine (Lively might too, but I've only tested Wallpaper Engine). The menu bar takes its colours from your animated wallpaper and keeps up when you switch. With more than one display each bar reads its own, whether you run a different wallpaper on each or one stretched over all of them.

Auto-hide for the menu bar

Like the dock already could: when a window is maximized, or always (Settings, Menu Bar). Push your mouse to the top and it comes back.

App panel

Click the app name in the menu bar and you get its windows, volume, recent files, Keep on Top and Quit (or Force Quit if it's frozen). It replaces the File/Edit menus, which honestly never worked well, sorry to whoever asked about those. Every app builds its menus its own way: I got older apps working, but Notepad and others had glitches that didn't look native at all.

Frozen apps also keep their name in the bar now, so you can Force Quit them right from there :D

New setup

Every feature has a little clip with its switch right next to it. Quick setup if you just want to get going, Show me everything if you want to see it all.

Your dock, your way

  • Calendar icon that always shows today's date and opens your calendar in one click
  • Bigger icons without a fatter dock: Dock size, Icon size and Margins are separate settings now, and the dock glides to its new size when you change them
  • The Windows key can show the dock, even over a full-screen app or game (Settings, Shortcuts)
  • Launch Options: right-click a pinned app in the dock to pick how it starts, like your browser always opening a private window
  • Start menu on the left? The dock slides out of its way

The menu bar

  • Logo menu on the far left: All Apps, Show Desktop, Task Manager, Sleep, Hibernate, Restart, Shut Down, and you can use your own picture for it. Show Desktop is in the bar's right-click menu too. Hibernate shows up when Windows has it on (someone here asked for it)
  • Your own date format: dd/MM, d MMM, yyyy-MM-dd, anything you type
  • Notifications either where Windows puts them, or top right under the bar like on a Mac, with a Test notification button so you can see where they land. They keep that spot even when the bar hides itself

Multiple monitors

I tested all of this on three displays, one of them left of the main one.

  • Drag icons between docks: with a dock on every display, drag an icon from one dock to another. If each dock shows its own display's apps, the app moves over and brings its windows with it
  • Drag a maximized window onto another display's dock and it lands maximized there
  • Full-screen video on one display while you play on another: the menu bar gets out of the video's way
  • Wuthering Waves could open as a window instead of borderless fullscreen on another display. Fixed
  • Swapping your main display no longer leaves a menu bar pushed halfway down the screen
  • Settings moved to a display with a different scale keeps the right size and colour

Today and Control Center

  • Only want the calendar? Today can show two months side by side, or the month with that day's events next to it
  • No more empty gaps in Control Center when you turn things off
  • Take Wi-Fi, Sound or Battery out of the menu bar and it shows up in Control Center instead, so it never disappears completely

Search

  • Translate into your preferred language: "translate apple" is enough
  • Single words translate a lot better now

Settings and accessibility

  • Follow Windows' animation effects (Settings, Accessibility): if you turned animations off in Windows, the dock and the menu bar calm down too
  • Reduce transparency now keeps the menu bar and the dock almost solid, like on a Mac
  • Shortcuts over admin apps: shortcuts without the Windows key now work even with Task Manager or a game running as admin in front, and Settings tells you when a combo is already taken
  • Settings explains itself: when one option changes what another does, there's a line under it with a link to the other one, and options that can't do anything right now are greyed out

Fixed, thanks to your reports

  • Hovering over a dock icon could crash Glassline. Not anymore
  • A rare crash tied to Bluetooth, gone
  • Your own shortcuts only worked once per run. Now they work every time
  • Show Desktop works every time, and brings back the window you had in front
  • Clicking the weather sometimes showed nothing until you pressed Alt+Tab. Fixed
  • Feedback sent while the website can't be reached (some networks block it during football matches, yes really) gets saved and sent later on its own
  • Over a maximized app the menu bar now takes exactly the app's colour: no more two-tone bar, no thin line of wallpaper under it
  • App icons in the menu bar (Discord, Steam...) were a bit blurry.
  • Spotify's icon had a small black bar under it while starting (it reports 0% progress and the dock drew an empty bar, Windows' taskbar doesn't)
  • ChatGPT's close and minimize buttons hid under the menu bar when it was maximized
  • The dock could stay black on the desktop after closing a maximized app
  • The app name over a dock icon could stay on screen when Start opened
  • Screenshots could close by themselves the moment they opened
  • Wallpaper Engine's settings window and HoYoPlay were treated as games
  • Cleanup tools like AdwCleaner no longer flag Glassline's uninstall helper
  • Keep the Windows taskbar on the side of the screen? No more nagging, and the menu bar fits around it
  • Changing Windows' display scale keeps the interface size you picked
  • Weather isn't fetched at all while the Weather switch is off
  • "Start Glassline when I sign in" now shows off if you disabled it in Windows' Startup apps
  • Lots of smaller fixes: tooltips that wouldn't show, the dock hiding again after Settings closes, and more

Honestly, most of this came from you, in the comments here and through Feedback. Glassline has around 30-40 users right now, and I'm really happy with how much you all help and throw ideas at me. I use it as my daily driver so I catch bugs too, but your reports and logs are gold (the Spotify one, for example). So thank you, and please keep them coming.

Get it

Glassline is $9.99, once. No subscription, every update free. Get it today and 1.0.10 shows up on its own as soon as Microsoft approves it.

Which one are you trying first? And what should I build next? I read every comment.

Developer a little zipper for your desktop: SeamShade

SeamShade is a playful desktop cover: drag the zipper across your screen to pull a curtain over your workspace, then slide it back when you’re ready to return. You can customize the fabric and zipper, save themes, and optionally turn on a frosted-glass blur effect.

One important note: SeamShade is just a visual cover, **not a security or privacy lock**. It doesn’t block system shortcuts or prevent access to your computer.

If you’d like to try it, here are the links:

- **Windows:** https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9PLR5K40GLFR?hl=neutral&gl=TR&ocid=pdpshare

- **Mac:** https://apps.apple.com/tr/app/seamshade/id6819419260?l=tr&mt=12

I’d love to hear what you think, and what you’d like to see improved next.

Developer Audiobook Organizer: a local Windows app for making chaptered M4B files (free short-book exports)

Maker disclosure: Audiobook Organizer is our app from Lesswork Apps.

If you have a folder of MP3, FLAC, M4A or WAV files, it combines them into one M4B with editable chapters, cover artwork and book details. Audio is processed locally on Windows 10/11 x64; no upload or separate app account is required.

The workflow is: import files or folders, put chapters in order, clean filename numbers if needed, add the cover and book information, then export. The ZIP includes the runtime and FFmpeg.

Website, screenshots and a 76-second walkthrough: https://lessworkapps.com/

The free edition lets you export a complete book up to 30 minutes long per export. This is an export-length limit, not a 30-minute countdown. Removing the limit costs $9.99 USD once for two active computers (tax may apply). Paid activation needs internet once; activated installations can keep working offline.

I'd welcome feedback from Windows audiobook users on:

  1. Is importing and arranging chapters clear without instructions?

  2. Do the chapters and cover appear correctly in your usual player? Which player?

  3. What, if anything, stops you using it instead of your current tool?

Current limitations: the build is unsigned, so Windows may show a reputation warning. Do not disable security software or bypass a malware/policy block. AAC output is lossy, and player support varies. It doesn't do text-to-speech or remove DRM.

Please use audio you have permission to process, and don't share private audio or license keys in comments.

Question What if you could actually fix your PC problems just by describing them?

I'm exploring a Windows system assistant that diagnoses and fixes computer problems, improves performance, and handles optimizations for you.

You could tell it:

  • "My games keep stuttering. Fix it."
  • "My PC has gotten slow. Figure out why."
  • "Optimize my laptop for better performance."
  • "My Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting. Fix it."

Instead of giving you tutorials or instructions to follow, it would work on resolving the problem itself.

Two questions:

  1. Would you actually use something like this?
  2. If it worked reliably, would you pay $10/month, prefer paying per fix, or only use it if free?

Looking for genuine opinions before committing to building it.

Developer memo - desktop search, knowledge system, peer-2-peer

Hi all,

I recently released a new version of memo, a desktop platform for finding, collecting, organizing, linking, editing and sharing data - without the cloud. The app combines desktop search, knowledge systems and peer-2-peer.

The new version adds peer-2-peer features with memo Beam, for sharing file collections as a webapp, including file listing, previews, metadata, audio/video streaming, group chat, and full text search. In the local network or via WebRTC in the internet.

The app is free to use up to 10k files and 50 files for sharing.

I very much appreciate constructive feedback! If you use it and hit the limits or need trial extensions, just let me know.

Best regards
Henrik

Developer We built a Windows notes app that saves highlighted text from any app with one shortcut

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Disclosure: I'm on the team behind this, so it's under the Developer flair.

The problem we kept hitting: the useful bits of a day end up spread across a browser tab, a Teams chat, a PDF and a terminal. Getting each one into a notes app means switch window, paste, pick a folder, switch back. Most of the time we didn't bother, and a week later the thing was gone.

ReticulOS is what we built for that:

  • Highlight text in any app and press Ctrl+Shift+= . It's saved into the collection you're in, without bringing the app to the front.
  • Ctrl+Shift+4 saves a dragged area of the screen as a picture.
  • Ctrl+Shift+/ opens keyword search across all your collections. Works offline.
  • Ctrl+Shift+Space asks Ret, the built-in AI. It answers from your notes and shows which note each answer came from, so you can check it. Ret needs internet and a Google sign-in, and the free plan includes 25 answers a month. Saving and search work without an account.
  • Notes are encrypted on your PC, and you can export collections to Markdown or JSON.

It's free with no time limit. Pro is $20/month and adds PDFs, audio, video and more AI answers.

One honest heads-up: the installer isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen will say "Windows protected your PC" and you'd need More info, then Run anyway. Signed installers come with the full release. Download from the official site: https://reticulos.com/download?ref=reddit-windowsapps

Two things I'd like Windows users' opinion on. The shortcuts can't be remapped yet, so does Ctrl+Shift+= clash with anything you use daily? And the small always-on-top window: handy, or in the way?

Free IPTV player app (bring ur own content), no adds or in player purchases.

Why i vibe coded this app -> i wanted a player for our shared pc so we have multiple profiles with its own favorites and recently watched.
it also has a setting which auto picks a audio track/subtitle track if available.

The rest of the features are commonly known to most players.

Still updating the app to my own liking so it could still change sometimes.

Developer I made a free video player that shows the same video twice (independent zoom + Ctrl+R rotate) and can record what you see

Hi! I built Duplo Player, a Windows video player (MIT license) for a very specific need: watching the same video in two screens at once.

- Two views of the same video, in sync (Ctrl+D)

- Drag to zoom each view separately; Ctrl+R rotates the selected view

- Record what you see on screen (with the zoom and rotation you chose) to MP4

- Delete the video you are watching straight from the player (goes to the Recycle Bin, with confirmation), no need to open the folder

- A-B loop, slow motion to 0.25x, frame step, optional noise suppression, English/Portuguese

It uses VLC's engine, so it plays what VLC plays. Windows only for now. The installer is unsigned (SmartScreen will warn); it scans 0/66 on VirusTotal and the repo explains how to verify it or build from source. Built with a lot of AI assistance, and the README says how.

Download and source: https://github.com/m4rcos-amorim/duplo-player

What would you add or change? I'm especially curious whether the two-view idea is useful to anyone besides me.

Developer I got tired of copy → Alt-Tab → paste, so I built a Windows hotkey relay with local redaction, OCR, and audio transcription.

I spend a lot of my day bouncing between terminals, browsers, docs, editors, and AI tools.

Copy → Alt-Tab → paste → Alt-Tab back. Over and over.

So I first built Browser Relay: arm a browser tab, highlight text, press Ctrl+Shift+8, and SafeRelay protects it locally before inserting the protected version into that tab.

That worked — until I realized most of the stuff I actually wanted to send started outside the browser: terminal output, logs, config files, VS Code, Notepad, .env snippets, etc.

So I built SafeRelay Desktop and connected the two.

Now:

  • Ctrl+Shift+8 = Browser-origin relay
  • Ctrl+Shift+9 = Desktop-origin relay
  • Ctrl+Alt+T = arm a Windows app

So I can highlight something in Windows Terminal and have the protected version land in an armed ChatGPT tab and Notepad at the same time.

Connected ≠ Armed — nothing receives anything unless I explicitly choose it.

SafeRelay inserts only. It never presses Enter or clicks Send.

For times when I want even more speed, I added Hyper-Drive. It’s optional and OFF by default, but when enabled, a normal Ctrl+C can protect the copied text and immediately “teleport” it back to the window I was just using.

The Windows app also grew a few other features I use:

  • local Safe OCR
  • local microphone transcription
  • local Windows System Audio transcription
  • Meeting Notes
  • Custom Protected Terms
  • session-only redaction vault
  • terminal-aware paste handling

The core relay protection, OCR, voice transcription, and Browser/Desktop bridge run locally. Optional AI commands are separate and use a provider you explicitly configure.

I attached the visual because it explains the idea faster than I can:

Browser or Desktop → protect once → one protected payload → only the destinations you armed.

saferelay.ai

Curious what other Windows users think: useful power-user tool, or too many workflows in one app?

Processing video zccrra0laywh1...

SafeRelay Desktop, Local DLP and Browser in action.
