In quotes, as that's totally tongue in cheek. I prefer not to manage a thing around here, and for the most part - this sub tends to run itself very smoothly. That's not too surprising, as Weimaraner owners are typically a pretty tight-knit group. 'Tis a wonderful gift we all share, and the bond between Weimaraner owners is typically pretty strong.
However...
Some of you may have noticed a bit of nastiness invading our community lately. I'm fairly certain it's the work of a single, unsavory individual - and for the first time since this community was created, we've had to yank out the ban hammer for somebody other than spammers.
His/her target: Weimaraner mixes, or purebred Weimaraners that he/she believes are mixes. Privately, they have been repeatedly told such discussion and pics are allowed, only to respond with hostility, profanity and demands we keep the sub "pure" and free of "mutts".
The point of this note is simple. There's absolutely nothing wrong with posting pics, questions or simply sharing the joy your Weimaraner mix brings you. If you're a Weimaraner purist, and this offends you - fine. You have options. Get over it, skip over the occasional post of a Weim mix or feel free to start up your own sub and enforce more draconian rules. You're not going to change the focus here.
My rationale for this inclusive stance is pretty simple. Having been involved in Weimaraner rescue for decades, I've seen plenty of Weim mixes...and by and large, they all exhibit some traits and behaviors their purebred brethren do. Discussion of them is useful and encouraged, and more importantly - this community should be caring and inclusive of anyone who wishes to share in the joy of Weimaraner ownership. Even if their pooch doesn't look 100% the part.
Now - back to Weimaraner fun, in whatever shape that takes.
Oh - almost forgot. BooBoo reminded me to include the requisite Weimaraner pic.

El fresco matutino le da mucha energía, me encanta verlo así, aunque esta noche se ha caído de la cama y nos ha dado un gran susto

My 1yo boy is a heavy leash puller when my wife walks him or when we are together. He pulls with me when he sees a bunny or squirrel in front of him. He’s not neutered yet but we’re coming up on 18 months here in December, so he’ll be evaluated then. We’ve tried the wonder walker harness and a prong collar. We try to do the redirection thing and it doesn’t seem to help too much. In our new neighborhood, there are 2-3 critters per house so redirecting is only a means of encountering a different critter. My wife wants to get him a trainer. I’ve had a few girl weims in the past and they have all been pullers up into older age.
Is it possible at his current age to train it out of him? Did neutering your dog help with their pulling? Should we go to a mouth lead next? Any advice is helpful.
Thanks!

My boy is 14. I have been remote working since 2020. At the beginning of the pandemic I had another dog that died at 18. I didn’t get another dog because I didn’t want to take on another financial and dog lifespan commitment.
Within the last couple of years he has developed really bad separation anxiety when I leave, particularly earlier in the day. He howls the entire time I am gone. In the evening he actually seems to be okay because once he has his dinner he goes to sleep.
I have been giving him Trazadone. But since it is a regular occurrence my vet has suggested Prozac.
He is on Apoquel, Galliprant and monthly Librela. I want to do everything possible for him to have the best quality of life, but I am concerned that the other personality quirks that make him so beloved to me will go away.

Attempting to train these clowns to wear goggles so they can join me and my husband on a UTV in Utah! The pictures crack me up so I just wanted to share.

When the human kids would rather be with their friends and your husband hates the beach…you take your favorite furry girl on a Weim-centered beach trip.

We either hit the jackpot button or the complete and utter chaos button, because we consciously chose to get a second! Lando (Norris/big) and Lewie (Hamilton/little): 4 years old & now 3 months old. Lando was NOT a fan for the first 2 weeks. Now they've bonded. Lewie won't accept that he's a little guy right now, so Lando is always exhausted from all of the wrestling. And they're completely different dogs. Lando is the calm energy. Lewie has earned the name Turbo... 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye.
I wouldn't have my life any different. They've made our family feel so much more full of life and love. These dogs truly are the best (and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too smart).

I hope you stub your toe. Been awake literally all night in the bathroom. Stanley has been wretching and coughing up phlegm all damn night.
We went through every bedsheet in the house.
Now I'm just sitting in the bathroom with the door closed and shower on to steam up the room which helps slightly. Plus easy clean up on the tile floor.
Pray the water heater continues to work.

Just joined the group and wanted to share some photos of my Weim x vizsla girl. She tends to ignore her vizsla half most of the time but they’re both Velcro so there’s that. Shes 4 and has a 4 year old vizsla brother who is her emotional support dog 😂

I love my little weird girl. She’s acting like I forced her to be here but she chose to come lay in the non-existent space next to me on the couch. She ended up laying down to snuggle on my chest she just had to act weird first
