Today I went to have a 'trial period' at one of the produce vendors as a worker. It went horrible. Lots of yelling, gross environment, drinks left spilt on the floor everywhere.
In the end, I was paid $10/hr for the 2 hours I worked. But even then, I came 10 minutes early and left 10 minutes late because the stall owner said she was 'busy' and couldnt let me go despite me saying I had a prior engagement. Lots of yelling, demeaning names, and zero training. I spoke at most 3 sentences to the owner (Tasha) herself today.
To everyone reading, avoid Tasha's Farm Fresh Produce like the plague. I seriously doubt anyone there is getting paid minimum wage let alone legally. The wage theft was already reported to all relevant organizations and the media.
Stay safe out there guys! Remember that as hard as it is to find a job right now, you are legally owed your minimum wage and to be compensated for all hours, including 'training' hours.
If you're the owner reading this, my silence costed $21 dollars. 🤷♀️🤷♂️🤷♂️
UPDATE 1: They reached out to me offering to pay my owed wages back and more. I'll update this post if I actually receive the compensation.
UPDATE2: Recieved the payment, so, the situation is resolved. I'll leave the post up but they did offer an apology and payment.
