FinancialAid Dear prospective students
The college landscape has drastically changed in the four years Iāve been at USC, especially when it comes to financial aid. I know your parents, siblings, and friends all have their own perspectives on college, but you need to realize this is a huge financial decision youāre making for your future, especially with the current state of the economy.
Current USC students receiving substantial aid have been having issues with financial aid, the university is facing its own deficit problems, and the āBeautiful Billā will change how aid is distributed. The college experience your family talks about might not reflect the reality youāre walking into today.
I get that USC is your dream school, and I completely understand that. But youāre either an adult or about to be one, and you need to think beyond game days, school pride, and the college experience. Is all of that really worth potentially $400k+?
Please be smart, future Trojans. Talk to current students, look into your financial aid, and understand what youāre committing to before making a decision. I donāt want you ending up in the position so many current juniors and seniors are in. And trust me, it feels like weāre the last helicopter out of Vietnam. Please be mature about this choice.
Iām at one of the best schools in this university and Iām telling you now in this current economy the return on investment might not be worth it for any sort of debt.
