Miscellaneous Nail Salon

• Upvotes

Hi! I was wondering if anyone had recs for good places to get nails done. I’m looking for something that’s not too pricey because a lot of the central campus ones are way out of budget 😭. Does anyone have any ideas?

Social 22M grad student looking for a study buddy on North Campus — walks and conversations after studying?

Hey! I’m 22M, a U-M grad student. Since coming here, I’ve found myself spending a lot of time alone, and honestly, it gets lonely sometimes. I’d really like to have someone to share a little of everyday life with.

I’m hoping to meet a woman around my age (18–26) who’d enjoy studying together on North Campus. We could work on our own things, take breaks together, and go for a walk or grab coffee afterward. It would be nice to have someone to talk to about our days, beyond just schoolwork.

I enjoy reading, traveling, and getting to know people through longer conversations. We can start by chatting here and see if we get along. I’d be happy to build a friendship, and I’m also open to dating if there’s mutual interest—there’s no need to rush anything.

If that sounds nice to you, feel free to message me and tell me a little about yourself!

Academics - Other Topics Tranferring engineering from Carnegie Mellon

Hoping to apply for the Feb 1st spring deadlines. I got into Michigan for freshman admission but decided to commit to Carnegie Mellon due to the smaller student body, really regretting that decision now and looking for a larger student body and more holistic college experience. I'm a sophomore in Materials Science and Engineering here, would love any advice or recommendations if anyone has them!! As well as any prior experiences :))

Clarifying that I am a CMU student hoping to transfer to Mich

Class EECS 470 Curve?

Title. Everything in the class is pretty much ran my Claude and no practice exams or really any sort of midterm problems have been given. Not feeling too great about the upcoming exam, but I wanted to ask since there’s still a lot of information that’s ambiguous about the new 470.

Sports Ticket Selling GroupMe Gone?

I can’t see the football ticket GroupMe anymore. It seems maybe I was removed, but I have no idea why? Or maybe it was deleted altogether?

Does anybody have invite links to any of the various GroupMe’s? Or know where I could find them? Also, I have the student section app but have never used it. Is that still the gold standard for ticket exchange, or is there a better app?

Miscellaneous Chalkboards on North Campus?

please do not suggest whiteboards, I can obviously find those

Anyone know of locations or rooms with chalkboards on North Campus? I've learned that I really need that tactile feel to remember stuff while studying, and whiteboards don't really provide that.

Miscellaneous Lost Unicycle

Over the weekend I lost a blue 20” unicycle with “Torker” written on its frame. The last time I knew where it was, it was outside the Dana building on the side facing towards Weiser Hall. If anyone has seen it please let me know!

I'm a new student in USA and never experienced Halloween here. Where do people buy Halloween costumes from? Is there like a famous store around or just order it from Amazon?

Would love to know what you guys have in mind for this year!

Up ~20% from $21.2B last year. Fairly modest compared to other schools that saw 25% to 40% returns (Harvard, Penn, Washu, UNC, etc.)

Health / Wellness Looking for a basketball buddy at Hadley/IMSB

👋 I'm looking for someone closer to my build/height @ ~6 feet, 200 lbs to help with drill work. Have been playing for a few years and play in a weekend league. Strongly prefer early mornings (6am - 9am) to get an open court, but open to other times as well.

I'm more than happy to rebound/help you with parts of your game too. I take getting better seriously and am looking for someone with similar goals. Feel free to DM!

Social Where do people make friends?

Hey everyone! I'm a law student, and honestly, law school has been pretty lonely so far. The workload is no joke, and between classes and readings, I haven't really had a chance to build a friend group outside of school. I’m looking for friends outside of law school.

In undergrad, I was in the weightlifting club and cultural clubs, and I miss that kind of community- people you can hang out with and not take life too seriously. So I'm putting myself out there. Ideas?!?
