Student health center just doesn’t answer

I called them over 20 times today, and stayed on the line for about 2 minutes for each call. They just don’t answer, kinda seems like they just don’t care cause it’s not the first time. Once I was dead sick, and called them 84 times. No answer.

UNB Negligence: Dr. M Bhargava,Sexual Assault Victims (Foreseeable Harm & Duty of Care to Students)

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I am looking for other victims of Dr. Manoj Bhargava. Specifically, those who saw him through UNB's student health centre.

I believe as a collective unit, especially those who do not have a provable legal case, should write an open letter to UNB calling for accountability, acknowledgment, and reconciliation for the university's part in negligence and duty for student health and safety. An open public letter to the university, will call for public response and accountability for the failure to these students. Names can be kept private.

Information I have gathered:

- UNB was made aware of complaints dating back to at least 2014.

- 40+ individual complaints but I am aware that 30+ may not have provable civil legal grounds. These provable grounds are an injustice to the harm caused to students who were vulnerable and were made vulnerable by UNB's inaction.

This is just a small snippet, I would love to hear interest and/or discuss other ideas or opportunity to hold UNB accountable in some way.

Chances of Interview with Dal Med NB

What are my chances for an interview/possible acceptance for dalhousie med school as a New Brunswick resident? I’m applying to the DMNB campus. I’d love to know acceptance too but obviously that comes with getting an interview first. I saw someone else post something similar to this so I was wondering if anyone had any insight

Gpa: 3.9/4.0
MCAT: 506
Casper: 4Q

ECs:
Co-president of society, food bank, hospital, community journal volunteer, lots of long-term commitments
Total around 395 hrs

Work experience: research for three summers (no pubs), part-time job in grocery store, some hybrid jobs, some of my jobs are over 3yr commitments

Awards: very minimal, couple of work ones, school scholarship, deans list

If anyone has interviewed (or even been accepted!) with these kind of stats, let me know :) I know my MCAT is a bit on the lower side so I’m a bit worried about that. Thanks so much for any advice

Anybody play MTG?

Hey people. I’m a mature 30 year old student looking for a new play group to play MTG. I mostly play EDH/CEDH and Pioneer for constructed. I don’t have much free time with my studies, but, it’d be really nice to play some paper magic. I have autism and ptsd so if we could pick a location that is sensory friendly, that’d be great. I use proxy cards in my decks :) Thanks!

(I am the tall dude with hand and neck tattoos if you ever see me on campus! My name’s Gabe if you want to say hi and talk magic for a minute!)

Hi UNB! The Cap City Tattoo Festival is coming up (Delta Fredericton, 7-8 November). We have a huge giveaway on now via instagram and facebook, and we are offering $10 student day passes this year at the door (be sure to bring your student ID).

Here are a few important updates on what’s happening this year. Feel free to drop your questions in the comments!

  • 60 (!!!) of our 70 artists are ONLY taking walk-ups. That means you don’t need to pre-book, and since lists will start fresh both days you’ll have the same chance to get in with your favourite artist whether you come Saturday or Sunday.
  • Live music! Lineup includes Josh Bravener, Connor Fox, HINCH, STILL M.A.D, Black Suit Devil, and Rich Gloade & Friends
  • Our Saturday afterparty will be on the Delta Terrace, with bonfires, s'mores, cash bar and casual acoustic sets from Josh Bravener and Black Suit Devil. This is open to anyone with a day or weekend pass.
  • Flippins will be hosting a pop-up arcade at Cap City throughout the weekend, play for fun or enter a competition
  • Ticket sales for workshops are open now. These are $12 each and are intro level classes for people interested in the basics of stained glass, intro to hip-hop, podcasting, patchwork sewing, or even paranormal investigation!
  • 2 of our pro seminars (Friday 6 Nov) are open to anyone, and have a few spots left: This is a rare chance to learn from the incredible Hans Deslauriers (Design with Intent) or Becky O’Quinn (Composition, Contrast, and Colour Techniques for Artists and Tattooers). DM them on IG to register.
  • And of course, we'll have incredible vendors, a killer Festival menu from Stmr36, lightning giveaways runnings both days, and lots more.

---

Follow us on instagram for live updates and as we continue showcasing this year’s artists, or check out our website for more info.

Hope to see you there!

Considering the Online MBA Program

As the title suggests, I’m currently considering enrolling in the part-time online MBA Program at UNB.

I’m currently in my early 30’s working full-time as an engineer. My employer has a pretty decent continuing education program, and will more than likely be covering my tuition costs. I’m mostly curious about the workload, professors, and overall program difficulty.

Any advice or feedback from people who have taken the program?

Thanks!

Anonymous Poll!! Trying to get more responses

Hi UNB students,

I have an anonymous poll for an article I am writing for our UNB science magazine. I am hoping to get some more responses from UNB students. It's quick (around 1-2 minutes), all multiple choice or select what applies, and again completely anonymous.

If anyone is interested here is the link: https://forms.gle/u2yuFGDg5VzgW1hx9

Thanks in advance and make sure to check out Currents Magazine!

Edit: Looking for responses from all faculties, not just STEM. Thanks!

Academic Offense at UNB?

Hey guys!

I am a freshman at UNB. For my computer science class, I made a mistake by using AI on a weekly homework assignment. I used it to code some of my parts, and my professor spoke with me about it. I admitted to my offense, and my professor said that she will be reporting this to the university. At present, I am waiting for follow-up from the registrar. I genuinely regret this all and I will never touch AI ever again. But I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and how did u deal with it? Any advices plz?

Thank you!!!

Finding Friends at UNB (Nerd Edition)

Hello,

I am a UNB staff member who cares a lot about helping students find friends and activities. I see questions around this coming up a lot (I *just* replied to a question on this, but I thought I would share it as its own post)

Two things I could point you towards are UNB Nerd Club (see Discord link below). This is a 'club' I started to help those with nerdy interests (gaming, cartoons, anime, etc) find each other. I always think that connecting with others with similar interests is a good way to find friends.

https://discord.gg/FX9cGaAmm

The other option are activities offered by the Positive Mental Health Team. These are student-led groups run in cooperation with Counselling Services. They offer weekly recurring events (at UNBF there is a crochet group, bedazzling group and a creative group). These groups are on both campuses.

Biology1001 Exam

I've been studying for the biology 1001 exam thats tomorrow, and just wanted to ask if anyone knew exactly what type of questions would be on the test and what I should focus studying on. I'm really confused by all the free energy and enzymes stuff and don't really understand it all that well. My prof said some questions would be straight recall, and some would e application based. Anyone know what application based might mean?

Question for FINE ARTS STUDENTS

Hey gang, do you think it possible to borrow some art supplies for a project? I’m not in within the fine arts program but would need some tools for a project (e.g glue gun).

I understand if it’s a no due to a policy or theft prevention. Or if there’s rentals, what are the prices?

Student Union Hair Salon

Just wanted to ask for peoples experience with the hair salon in the student union building. Are they any good? I always see old people with shorter hair in there so I’m a bit trepid. Does anyone know if they’d do well with something like a mod cut or scissors only cut?

Any applicant to Accelerated Nursing for fall 2027?

I've heard that Casper is not required for this cycle's admission. However, I haven't been able to get a response from the program's contact people in order to confirm. Does anyone have more information, or has been able to get in touch with the people responsible?
