I’m so upset.

• Upvotes

79 5-star ratings.

When I was on vacation in France, someone gave me a 1-star and someone gave me a 2-star. I literally sat in silence. Tip every driver 30%-40%.

I can’t tell if they did that because I’m an American or what.

So upset. Like how dare they pick me up no issues, get a huge tip and do that to me? What’s even the point of tipping and being quiet? Makes me what to be obnoxiously loud and leave a bad tip.

WHY DOES IT TAKE SO LONG TO GET A DRIVER

This is sooooo infuriating. Imagine trying to get to work and the app is taking 10 minutes just to pair you with a driver. And THEN I get a driver who is 15 minutes away. Wtf. Uber has gotten WAY more expensive and more stupid and worthless.
I live in a large city, it was never this bad last year.

Courier cancelling

I’m so irritated. I’m paying $150 to get a package transported an hour and ten minutes for work. I don’t have another option and it needs to be delivered today. Tipped 10%, normally would tip more but it’s my boss’ card and it’s a lot of money. Waited 25 minutes to get matched, 20 minutes for arrival. Whatever. License plate says “no plate available.” Sketchy, but whatever. She finally pulls up, her boyfriend is in the passenger seat. Again sketchy but whatever. They ask me where it’s going, I tell them. They ask me how long it takes to get there, I tell them. They say “We’re not taking it, you don’t tip well enough for that.” So why the fuck did you accept it? Why did I wait 45 minutes for you? You knew damn well it was a far trip from the price. If you didn’t like the tip why did you take it? Now you have to cancel and I wasted my fucking time. I’m irritated.

Uber charged me $25 when the driver canceled my ride

TL/DR: Just a heads up to be sure to check your credit card statements. Uber tried to charge me $25 for a ride that was clearly canceled by the driver.

The details:
Last week I had scheduled an early morning (5:30 am) pickup to the airport (scheduled the afternoon before). That morning, the driver was identified and assigned about a half hour before my pick up time. The app showed he was on his way, and then about 10 minutes before the pick up, he abruptly canceled the ride. I tried to schedule again, but the app was showing no drivers in the area. Fortunately, I was staying at my relative’s house and they were up and they agreed to drive me the 45 minutes one way to the airport at 5:30 in the morning.

I contacted Uber to complain about the pick up and ask them to compensate me because of the hassle of basically leaving me stranded and having my relative burn their gas, an hour and a half of time to take me to the airport and back, plus about $10 in tolls. Uber refused to issue any type of compensation saying that I wasn’t charged so there was nothing to refund.

A few days later, I was looking at my credit card and I saw a $25 fee from Uber charged to me for that morning. When I looked in my account, it showed that the fee was being charged for the ride, which was clearly listed as “canceled by the driver.”

I contacted Uber immediately in the app and they refunded that $25 immediately. If I had not been carefully checking my credit card accounts, I’m sure I would have missed this.

I wonder how many other people Uber has scammed like this and tried to charge them a fee even when the ride is canceled by the driver?

Lyft has an on time pick up promise and I have gotten credits from them before when the driver was more than 10 minutes late. Uber sucks and I will be using Lyft from now on.

Anyone else stacking side income while driving? (Uber Eats → considering rides + one more stream)

Hey everyone,

I’ve been doing Uber Eats for a while and I’m thinking about flipping the switch to also do regular Uber rides. Trying to build a few different income streams instead of relying on just one.

One thing I’ve started doing is promoting an AI sports betting tool called Staicy (AI-powered picks / data-driven edge). I’m an affiliate for them. Basically you get paid $50 for every person who signs up through your link, and they send free promotional materials — like the little placard that hangs on the headrest (pic attached). Passengers can scan the QR code if they’re interested.

The platform has had a positive ROI every month since it launched and they post all results publicly. I’m not claiming anyone will get rich, just sharing what’s been working as an extra stream while I’m already in the car.

If any other drivers are interested in doing the same thing or just want more details on how the affiliate side works, feel free to DM me. Happy to share what I know.

Drive safe out there.

How to request a slow backroads route

I live in the middle of nowhere and the main route to town is a freeway. Due to vertigo issue I can’t travel above 45 mph. There is a back roads route to town that covers that, but it’s not one of the established routes on map apps. I’m worried I’ll scare the driver by asking to take a backroads way after they arrive to pick me up

Is there a way I can map out my own route on uber app so they won’t be surprised when I ask to take another route?

Driver asked me to add a stop for a 30 second wait.

Basically, the driver arrived, and i got in. We got about 5 ft away from my house (no traffic, completely empty road) and I remembered I forgot my keys on the hook. I asked him politely if I could very quickly run in and grab them and that theyre just at the door.

He immediately just sighed and said that id have to add a stop to my house...that was 5 ft away....

He reversed back and I ran in, it took me literally 30 seconds to grab it. When i came back in he asked me to add the stop, and he started driving. Because I added it, and he already drove away, GPS asked him to drive BACK to my house. The fare was already updated, and then he asked me to cancel the whole ride and make a new one while I was still in the car? I told him that would likely charge me but he insisted. He finally said "okay just cancel the stop."

We then went to my actual destination but like.. what was that? Is this normal? Thats also the first time ive ever forgotten anything in an uber :(

Uber Associate, Strategic Finance interview - what to expect in the first round?

Hi everyone,
I have an upcoming first-round interview with Uber for an Associate, Strategic Finance role, and I wanted to hear from anyone who has gone through the interview process for this position or a similar role at Uber.
Is the initial round mainly a recruiter conversation about my background and experience, or should I also expect technical questions around financial modeling, Excel, SQL, forecasting, budgeting, or business cases?
I’d also appreciate any insights into the types of questions they ask and how best to prepare for the first round.
Any recent experiences or advice would be really helpful. Thanks!

Wait and Save

Thumbnail

Early in the morning I woke up and looked at Ubers for work and selected a wait and save that said I'll be waiting 30 minutes till it finds a driver. Which is perfect gives me a chance to brush my teeth, wash my face and just get ready for work. Within a minute it finds a driver that was right outside my house already when I asked the driver to cancel as I wouldn't be able to make it to them in time and don't want them to sit there and wait. The driver agreed but instead of just cancelling they started the ride and waited for 5 minutes then cancelled causing me to have to pay a $5.95 fee.

I disputed the fee because well I selected a wait and save not a priority pickup and explained to the AI how a wait and save means I'm supposed to wait longer for a ride and save money, not being rushed out the door within a minute after selecting a "wait and save"

Honestly I barely do any waiting or saving with Uber and it's getting annoying.

I know to some this seems like a non issue but if someone selects "wait and save" they shouldn't have to rush out the door immediately after selecting it because the system decided to immediately find a driver before you can even close out the app.

Need help.

Ok so I need advice. Like concrete advice and a plan.

Here’s my situation

I am 21 years old had to stop school because got into a dept to my brother of 20k that I want to pay off as quickly as possible to come back to school. I currently work 2 jobs betting 1.5k every 2 weeks so 750 weekly. I have 2 options in head. ( also I don’t have a car )

  1. I finance a 15k car and drive uber after my shifts or before so I’ll end up doing around max 30hrs of uber per week. But I keep both my jobs.

  2. I rent a uber car quit one of my jobs ( the full time one ) and do uber for 70-80hrs till I finish this dept

3\*\*. I do the same thing as option 2 but with a financed car.

Need help raising a complaint for a ride i had in Delhi

Uber chat support is not so good at raising specific concerns and no human support really bugs me off.

Is there any way for me to raise a complaint that can really be looked into by uber and also help me compensate for my losses

Context

I Booked a cab from Faridabad, to new delhi railway station at 5:30 pm for catching a 7:15 train.

Driver did not have enough cng in his car and told us afterwards, we insisted him that we need to catch a train but he was rude and not all helpful and decided to rather go and fill up cng waiting in a 30-40 min waiting line at the cng station.

We had to end the ride in between and catch a metro but unfortunately we were too late to reach on time.

Uber drivers should be penalized for this

Me being a uber one customer really doesnt have any use at all. useless subscription

How can i raise this request with UBER INDIA.

Let me know please.

First time Uber experience

I booked an Uber a few weeks back from airport to my home. The pick up was 8:34 pm. And drop off was 9:20 pm. I was returning from a work trip, so essentially, I was on the way to home since about 2 pm that day. This was my first time booking an Uber. I have used Uber before they were always essentially booked by a companion and that too for a few minutes ride in a busy downtown. So as soon as the Uber stopped the driver got out and helped with putting my luggage in the trunk, which was a standard check in bag and a laptop backpack. As we hit the road the driver asked me if I can hear any noise from the car. I couldn’t hear anything and told him so. He asked again, and I was like, “like a static noise?” He said yes. I told him may be it is coming from the radio. He was like it’s coming from the back. I told him maybe it’s radio and because we are near the airport may be the radio isn’t working properly. I was tired didn’t pay much attention to it. I also called my wife as soon as I got in the uber telling her that I’ve got the ride and told her the eta. So some this conversation with the driver happened like when I was on call. He was interrupting me during the call. He also mentioned his car is new and was worried where the noise was coming from.Again, I didn’t hear anything. I was on call with my wife again for a few minutes during that 50 minute ride.

As we got off the freeway we entered a rotary. And he took the wrong exit. That is when I heard the sound he was talking about. In retrospect I should have heard it before but probably I was tired to pay attention or maybe the car was on the freeway the whole time that I couldn’t hear the noise. The sound was coming from my trimmer in my laptop bag (it triggers easily). It must have switched on when I put the bag in the trunk. At this time we were inly about 7 minutes away from home. I told the driver that the sound is coming from my trimmer in the bag thinking that he would be relieved that the sound is not coming from his car.

And he was like, “why didn’t you tell me before? We could’ve pulled over and switched it off”

I told him “I didn’t hear the noise before and wasn’t sure what it was”

He questioned me again, and I was like “are you concerned about anything?”

He said sorry, and said everything is good. But his demeanor changed. He was speeding and swerving around the turns. He was following his gps and took another wrong turn and ended up in a dead end street. He was irate and asked me “why didn’t you tell me I took a wrong turn?” very rudely. And I was like “you are driving, You are following your gps, why are you being rude to me?”.

He followed up with “don’t you know the way to your home? Ever since you got in the car you are on phone.”

I said , “So what if I was on the phone. You are being very rude”.

He said, “I’ve been telling you about the sound, and you didn’t know where it was coming from. I was worried about my car. I’ve been driving since morning. This is my last ride of the day. I’m gotta get home”

I told him, “You shouldn’t have accepted the ride if you were going to be rude. I’m paying for the ride it’s not that you are driving me for free.”

In the end he said, “how old are you?”

By that time we had reached home and I told him that’s not relevant, and got out. Slammed his door. Took my luggage and slammed his trunk too. Gave him 1 star and no tip.

Did I overreact? Or was he an asshole? Or was I being an asshole to him? Like I said it was my first time booking an Uber myself, and I was a bit anxious because of that and because of air travel too. Air travel makes me anxious every-time.

Edit: fixed typos

Edit2: When near my home, his gps directed him down a street which I usually don’t take to get home. In my three years living here I maybe drove down that street twice or thrice. I was sitting in the back seat, it was dark outside so I didn’t realize he took the wrong turn until he ended up at the dead end.

Cancel ride 3 days away?

This (Thursday) evening, I ordered a ride for the coming Sunday morning — only to find out that my son was planning on taking me. Is there any way that I can cancel the ride without penalty?

Not polite.

All I say to passengers is, " Hello, good morning. Please put on your seatbelt". Yet somehow, out of 500, three say I'm not polite. Nine give one star.

As a grown person I know not everyone will like everyone else but I'm kind of trying to understand why go with not polite? Why give a reason at all?

( The other six I'm pretty sure we're from various backseat drivers and people who you know wanted to have a kid in the backseat without having a car seat and sprung the fact we were on the way to pick up a kid halfway after they added a stop to the ride.)
