Question/Help I emmigrated from my country to europe and i'm regretting it

• Upvotes

Since I was little, I've dreamed of living outside the country, recently my dream came true and I managed to migrate through studying. But the reality was different from what I expected. I missed my family and that religious warmth and the social and brotherly relationships we have. Everything is too expensive here, the cost of living is super high, and you struggle just to find a place to rent.

I realized that nothing compares to my country.

I want to go back but my parents are refusing, probably they're afraid of what people will say idk

Is there anyone like me who regrets leaving the country ?

Other The incident that broke me when I was a child

i was in 2nd grade

yeah my mom and dad were fighting like crazy, throwing things and yelling

I was watching some kinda cartoon and the parents were telling the kids how they met and the kids were like "mom, dad, stop, it's embarassing" and i felt jealous af

things had calmed down so i went to my dad and told him "mom says she's sorry and that she loves you", he stayed quiet

then i went to my mom and told her "dad says he forgives you and that he loves you", she asked "but i never said i was sorry?"

i explained that i wanted to mendle things

she started crying, she hit me, told me that i shouldv' minded my own business

she ran to my dad and told him what happened

they both got mad and started yelling at me then went back to arguing, i felt so guilty

next day, my dad left to go calm himself down

my mom was crying so much she couldn't et up so i had to drag her from the living room to her bed (i was 8)

they're still married to this day

i have trauma, attachment issue and my first life goal is to get married and be in love with my husband but im nearly 18 and no guy has ever liked me despite me doing everything to be likeable, so i want love, but i dont know how it looks like or if i'll ever get it

EDIT: forgot to mention this. Tht night i cried myself to sleep and only slept for 2h because i felt like i caused them to have the second fight and i started telling myself how stupid i was

Discussion anyone else facing the same problem with how limited is our dialect ?

• Upvotes

our dialect is so limited when you try to use it just to have a little deep conversation outside the boundaries of regular events of everyday life which is to say conversations that have philosophical/spiritual or even theological or psychological nature to it albeit we trying to supplement this lacking in our dialect by borrowing from other languages such as english/french/classical arabic... and using this strategy make us arrive to some equilibrium that can help the conversation keep going but at some point when we are really beyond just a little deep conversation and on the door steps of utterly profound subject matters that requires some technical terminology to discuss it right the party members either switch either fully speaking french english or classical arabic and in which language they choose to keep going in the conversation they all abandon our dialect and rightfully so because it can't alone hold conversations of that caliber and on my part personally it really grates on my nerves a little bit for tow reasons mainly the first that we just can't like other people around the globe rely on our dialect beyond the mundane stuff of everyday life and secondly we have to invest more energy to the conversation that is already demanding by its nature by adding a foreign language to the equation that no matter how much you are proficient in it it will never be as comfortable and as natural as your own original dialect/language so basically that's another mental baggage you have to carry while simultaneously holding up a conversation that is perhaps several tiers above a normal one

Discussion Tunisian graduate in software engineering, out of work for more than 2 years would learning German and going to Germany be the answer?

• Upvotes

Hello all,

I am Tunisian lady with software engineering degree. I graduated over 2 years ago and so far I couldn't find stable employment in my home country.

My professional experience is less than 6 months long and to be honest with you I am already confused and scared about my future.

I am actively looking for a job but finding an opportunity for junior developer here is almost impossible and I start thinking maybe I should not stay in Tunisia to look for a job anymore.

These days I was considering learning German language and moving to Germany for my job search. Learning new language takes time and I am not sure what are my real chances for employment being Tunisian graduate with little work experience.

For example if I become B1 or B2 level in German language will it be enough to find job or get any chance to relocate? Will companies hire me in such conditions? What can I do meanwhile learning language?

Besides I wonder should I continue my career in this sphere or switch my career path?

At this moment I want to have stable future, to become financially independent and stop waiting for my life has stopped.

Any honest advice will be greatly appreciated, especially from Tunisians or any other North Africans who have relocated to Germany and got employed there or faced the same scenario.

What would you do in my shoes remain in Tunisia and continue trying, learn German and try your luck in Germany, or perhaps go to a different country?

Is it worth the time and effort to learn German in my case?

Is it realistically possible to get a junior IT position in Germany coming from Tunisia and with little experience?

What would you do over the course of 6/12 months in my situation?

Please, be honest I need practical advice, not motivation.

I was walking downtown today when I made eye contact with a girl passing by. I smiled and said hello, just a friendly greeting, but she turned her face away and ignored me lol.

I just hope she didn't think I was trying to harass her or something 😭 I don't blame her, to be honest, shit happens, and people should be cautious nowadays. Just sharing this because I'm bored lol

Question/Help Question for Tunisians: Hotel room with an unmarried couple

• Upvotes

I’m Algerian and planning to visit Tunisia with my American girlfriend. We’re not married yet, and we’d like to stay in the same hotel room.

Would we be able to book a room together without showing a marriage certificate or any proof that we’re married?

I know this can sometimes be an issue in Algeria, so I’m wondering what the situation is like in Tunisia, especially for a Tunisian hotel dealing with an Algerian and an American.

If you’ve had personal experience with this, I’d really appreciate it.

National News

Discussion Mental health in Tunisia is horrible

To those who don’t know we rank top 10 in depression top 10 in mental illness
Kol youm I pass by at least 5-8 mentally ill ppl on my way to work
Kol youm na9ra posts about ppl being depressed ( we can’t even blame them )
W kol youm niss rouhi 3leh haka nahna sometimes I even wonder is it our society, our system or even i wonder if is it our genes

The bigger issue ili no one is even considering a solution they treat is as a joke as something you can brush off

Literally we have one public mental illness institution w it’s so overwhelmed that they turn away any new patients

Such thing needs to be discussed treated as a top priority but sadly silence

Im not good at closures but what do you think about this
