Discussion A note about people advertising their services here
Just a heads up about some videos from teachers out there that seek clients and post some questionable takes on voice training from time to time. They tend to block anyone who is "inconvenient" to them, so, I am going to write this comment just to make sure something is clear here: I would gladly comment on them and point out any misinformation that is being smuggled in and, I am sure, other people would too, but it's simply not possible. Unfortunately this is how reddit mechanics work - it's easy to turn any subreddit into an advertisement billboard and avoid any responsibility as to the content.
Also, if I am at it, I want to note something that irks my for years an years. I've noticed a pattern about a lot of those kind of teachers. 1) they seem to barely have any voice dysphoria (think that demonstrating what would be a dysphoric voice for other people is some fun party trick) and 2) they tend to have clearly above average anatomy for this (makes sense) but are the most aggressive proponents of pointing fingers at people and suggesting the usual points of "anatomy does not matter" and "no one needs surgeries," and so on, I think it's clear what I am talking about.
And, there's nothing wrong with #1 in itself (not everyone has dysphoria,) but, why on Earth do those people take over and want to lead the rhetoric on this subject matter and tell others what their realities are? I don't want those people to be some kind of a spokes people that narrate my problems to other people out there. They themselves clearly have not dealt with what is un unsurmountable barrier themselves and yet they somehow think they represent everyone else in this.
