Last weekend, there were rail event in Liberec. As you may know, ČD class 843 no longer runs on Liberec – Stará Paka (for this reason, TSW route is placed around 2017). But last weekend there were event in Liberec and Czech Railways scheduled special services pulled by 843 efficiently returning 843 for one fast train service on the route.
I made some photos and recreated them in TSW Photo mode, so you can check realism of the TSW route. Since train was delayed there were only little time to make picture on stations, so pictures are not from ideal spots, but at least something.
As part of event, old Liberec depot was available. Dead rail including two collectibles is there in real world. It is on second to last photo.
Finally, there were special trip to industrial area available in “From Factory to Factory” scenario. It is last photo.
After over five years since I got my first TSW2 achievement, I finally collected all that are obtainable in the game (with one being unfortunately broken).
What a ride this was. What started as a continuation of my TSW1 adventure, which I didn't take seriously at all, and never considered grabbing all the achievements or DLC packs for, ended with hunting and grabbing all the DLC I could and doing everything TSW2 had to offer.
This was quite a journey. I started as a casual fan that wanted to drive each route once or twice to see the world. I never considered doing more than simply looking at the hud driving my train. I didn't care much for the train I was driving either.
From there, I became interested in what I am actually driving, and wanting to drive other locos as well - I never considered that it will matter to me, but it certainly started to. I wanted not just the routes, but also the locos. I started reading about them and learning more about how they work.
Next game the desire to disable the "next signal aspect" on my HUD, as it felt like I was killing the whole enjoyment of driving. I went on to learn the signals and mostly succeeded at that. Well, at least for DE and UK routes, American signalling systems are bonkers, and after watching for AN HOUR what aspects can be displayed on Boston-Providence I gave up. But I did it, i started to drive aspect-less on the HUD.
Then, a desire to actually do more in the cab came. I started using the alerters. Then I learned about PZB/LZB. Then AWS/TPWS. Then ATC and ACSES. I'm by no means proficient, but I generally get stopped pretty rarely nowadays.
Somewhere along the way I learned about braking systems, and speed control, and intricacies of using the horn, and a ton of other things that I coudn't be bothered with these five years ago.
Then I became excited about layering, and what is coming to the game in the future. I joined this subreddit. Then I joined the DTG forums. I started following the roadmaps, directs, season of reveals, all the lot. I got hooked even more.
It was a really cool ride, one that I'm happy I have taken. In the mean time I read a bunch of posts here, I answered some questions, I asked a fair bit of them myself, and became a part of this community. Thanks to everyone that was with me on this ride. Now, onwards to TSW3!
I honestly love the Fife circle route even though it’s a little out dated with the levenmouth extension that didn’t cost extra …Thames branches… etc it feels like they really care and are there any other routes like it that people would recommend e.g Airedale and wharfdale or similar
Just recently got a pc a month after the August batch and I been waiting for a month and a bit to finally get my very own professional hands on the power break controller !!!
I’ve compiled historical data, early 1960s Polk City Directories, USGS/HistoricAerials 1962 flight plates, and local archival holdings to put together a developer-ready DLC route proposal set in Akron and Northern Ohio, circa 1961–1963.
Before corporate mergers, the 1965 N&W takeover, and late-70s Rust Belt deindustrialization, Akron was the "Rubber Capital of the World" at its absolute socio-economic peak. This route concept combines dense urban switching across South and East Akron, Barberton’s heavy "Industrial Canyon," specialized heavy clay and agricultural supply chains, and a 70+ mile mainline run across Northern Ohio to Carey.
Anyone know what the correct fix is for this? Doesn't seem to actually say anywhere, TMS just says refer to a fault card which obviously isnt in the game and there isn't a manual for this unit so I can't see where else to clear it. Obviously doesn't affect gameplay but is it just a thing that lights up a couple fault lamps for the rest of the run or can you actually fix it?
I’m looking at buying the class 90 and/or the class 70, but as the class 90 features in more stuff I own I am wondering if all the issues with the class 90 at launch have been fixed?
I play PS5 for reference
Not sure If anyone could help me here but my game was working fine last week and now when I load into the game the settings are fixed to beginner hud which means I can't use buttons in train, set it up myself, and the hud speedometer is stuck on simple and I've tried changing settings, restarting the game, and re installing the game and nothing has worked so far I've been playing tsw since tsw3 and it's just started happening a couple days ago. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THIS IF YOU HAVE ANY INSIGHT TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.
I have TSW4 and I'm thinking about getting TSW7. Will my DLCs be available for me to re-download?
Also, what's the difference between the standard, deluxe, and ultimate versions of TSW7? It looks like the difference is just what routes come with it. Is there more of a difference than that?
Hello, this is a route suggestion for a new route starting at Doncaster. It will unclude the 98 miles of track from Doncaster - Leeds, Doncaster - Hull and Doncaster - York. Rolling stock included would be the Class 91 + Mk4/DVT, Class 800 and Class 185. Layers could be, Class 801 (from Peterborough- Doncaster/Airedale and Wharfedale Network) and Class 66 (from too many routes to name). Class 66 RHTT, Cargo Line packs, Class 37/7. This would be a good route because we only have 2 (1 upcoming) sections of the ECML, it would also be good because of 3 new pieces of rolling stock. Photo 1: Class 91, Photo 2: Class 800, Photo 3: Class 185. I hope y’all enjoy my suggestion.
Hi everyone, I was wondering how many additional ICE 3 services you get on the Nuremberg–Würzburg with the Nuremberg-Ingolstadt layers? Thanks in advance :)
Hi all, recently decided to dive in to TSW on ps4/5
I am more than a bit ocd with playing series from the start, in order, and doing everything.
My plan was start with TSW2020, get all the dlc for it and play through it all, then move to TSW2, do the same, and so on.
My understanding is that any dlc I buy will carry forward to all the other games in the series. I bought new sealed copies of 2020, 2, 3 and 4 as they aren’t on sale digitally. I had read you just put a support ticket in to get a code for any tracks you owned on a disc so you didn’t have to rebuy them as dlc for future games.
However they gave me codes only usable on TSW7, which I don’t think carry backwards only forwards.
Do they not give codes that would work on the older games still? If not I’ll just have to bite the bullet and buy them as well.
I traced TS7 with Windows performance tools to find what actually causes the ridiculous hitching and stuttering that we all know and love. Fixed them one at a time with simple config tweaks and traced again after each change. This is the result.
Before and after:
Hitches over 40 ms went from 29 in about 5 minutes to 2 in the same timeframe (one AI-train spawn and the end-of-service screen).
Frames over 25 ms went from 96 to 11.
The worst hitch while driving went from 250–650 ms to about 80 ms.
The 99.9th percentile frame went from 40.8 ms to 22.3 ms.
Average fps went from about 86 to 98, but part of that may be the scenery. These settings fix stutters, not general fps.
Engine.ini (close the game first)
Open Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld7\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.ini and add this at the bottom. If it already has a [SystemSettings] section, put the [SystemSettings] lines under that one instead.
ts2.save.CheckpointsEnabled=0: the checkpoint autosave froze the game for about 250 ms each time. Cost: no checkpoint to resume a service from. ts2.save.WriteCheckpointsToDisk=0 instead keeps checkpoints in memory and should remove about 40% of the freeze (untested).
ThrottleCopyToAtlasInBytes: spreads the distance-field upload for newly streamed scenery over several frames instead of one. It was causing 85–107 ms spikes. Cost: ambient occlusion on new scenery can fill in a moment late.
ForceMaxAtlasSize=1: allocates the distance-field atlas at full size once, so it isn't rebuilt each time it grows while you drive. That rebuild froze the game for 230–300 ms. Cost: about 512 MB of VRAM.
ts2.HeadTracking.Enabled=0: turns off head tracking. Every frame, the game tries to connect to TrackIR, and with no TrackIR installed that wastes 0.5–3 ms of game-thread time per frame. With this line it doesn't run at all. Skip this line if you use TrackIR or opentrack. It replaces the registry fix from the first version of this post. If you already ran that, you can undo it with reg delete "HKCU\Software\NaturalPoint\NATURALPOINT\NPClient Location" /v Path /f
s.ForceGCAfterLevelStreamedOut=0 and s.ContinuouslyIncrementalGCWhileLevelsPendingPurge=0: by default the game runs a full garbage collection every time a scenery tile unloads, freezing for 20–30 ms each time, about 15 times per 4 minutes. With these lines it collects on its normal timer, roughly once a minute. In my test that left a single 22 ms collection. Cost: unloaded scenery stays in RAM up to a minute longer.
The three LevelStreaming lines: when new scenery tiles are added to the world, the game spends up to 5 ms per frame on it, on top of a normal frame. These cut that to 2 ms per frame in smaller pieces, so the burst is spread over more frames. Cost: new tiles appear a few frames later, which you won't see since they load about 2 km ahead.
RebaseOriginDistance=400000: the game recenters the world's coordinates every 1 km you travel, and each recenter froze for 150–320 ms. This makes it every 4 km, so that freeze still happens, just less often.
The first drive after changing these settings, or after a driver or game update, can stutter more for a few minutes while shaders compile. They're cached after that.
Stutters that are still left:
About 80 ms when the timetable spawns an AI train
20–35 ms frames for a fraction of a second when a dense batch of new scenery appears.
With the 4 km setting, one recenter freeze of about 200 ms every 4 km.
About 220 ms when the end-of-service screen opens.
