Hey all, hope you've had a good week so far! This is going up earlier because it's my birth month haha.
Here are the details:
Note that no RSVP is required, but that by showing up, you commit to ordering something to support the venue, even if it's just a coke.
Our Q&A is here - I haven't included it with the post as it's quite detailed!
Send me a message or comment here if you have any questions or concerns about anything related to this meetup/questions that aren't answered in the Q&A.

I put together a few calendars for my own benefit for making posts about the good things happening in the city and since people like the outdoor movie calendar,
here's Toronto's calendar for all the farmers' markets this year. I did add a few markets that weren't strictly farmers' markets too, I'm open to suggestions on this. You can add the whole calendar to your Google Calendar or Apple, etc. Or you can pick events that you like and just add those.
Here's the list of markets included so far:
If I'm missing some events, please let me know!

Hey everyone!
I'm helping launch a new social club in Toronto called Skip the Chit Chat. The idea is simple: bring people together through fun activities instead of the usual awkward small talk.
We're hosting our first event next Thursday, Oct 29, at OCTO Zone Crazy Cube starting at 7 PM.
It's a live-action indoor game experience with laser challenges, interactive games, and small-group activities. We're keeping it to around 10–12 people so everyone has a chance to get to know each other.
You don't need to bring anyone or know anyone beforehand. That's kind of the whole point!
If you're interested, you can find the event and sign up here:
https://skipthechitchat.com
We're also on Instagram skipthechitchat if you'd like to follow along for future events.
Happy to answer any questions!

Still working out a detailed reading plan but after several failed attempts reading it solo I'd like to form a reading group to tackle Joyce's Ulysses together, aiming to start with the first 3 chapters on the weekend of November 8th (though date will be decided after further discussion if there is interest). I'd like to meet every two weeks, with a longer gap for the holidays, ideally taking 3-4 months to finish the book.
Please reply if interested and I'll work out a more detailed plan and create a group chat.

Thursday's got a good spread (with links). The weekly just dropped if you missed it, get on the list for next week. Here are today's picks:
MF DOOM Tribute Exhibition Reception
Worth Gallery | 6-9p
Work from a global creative community who found their own way into the villain's catalogue and mythos. DJ's are there to celebrate the opening, the way it should be.
REmarket Repair Cafe and Bike Hub
St Lawrence Market Tent | 10a-6p
Volunteers take on clothing, jewellery, and small appliances for free between 11 and 3, CultureLink's bike hub handles minor repairs, and donation drop-off runs the full day. Good excuse to dig out that lamp you've been meaning to deal with.
Uruguayan Cultural Film: Anina
York University | 4:30p-6:30p
A charming, gentle story, the kind that sneaks up on you, and a nice window into contemporary Uruguayan culture if you haven't come across it before.
Sounds Of STMS
The Lobby | Ace Hotel Toronto | 8p-12a
A different guest DJ each week running through global sounds, r&b, remixes, and whatever else fits the mood.
Book Talk: Maria Cichosz's Middlemen
Queen Books | 6:30p-8:30p
A neighbourhood bookshop launch is usually a good reason to show up even when you don't know the book yet.
Trick or Treat Market: Vampire Night
See-Scape | 7p-11p
Local punky and kawaii vendors, handmade goods and karaoke starting at 9:30p
Songs of Palestine & Lebanon
Pamenar | 8p
The three Farahs. oud, daf, and cello, perform the set they played at the Palestine Film Festival's vigil at TIFF, in a smaller, more intimate room.
Mending Nights: Stitch, Sip & Mend
Common Sort Parkdale (upstairs) | 3p-7p
First up is sashiko, the Japanese practice of decorative stitching that turns a worn patch into something you actually want people to notice. Bring something that needs attention, or work from their collection. Tea and materials are taken care of, and every skill level is welcome.
Councillors' Debate & Community Chats
Parkdale Activity-Recreation Centre (PARC) | 6p-9p
A different structure than the usual podium-and-microphone night. You start by allocating Monopoly money across city budget priorities, before a moderated debate with the candidates including front runner Diana Chan Mcnally. Then Story Circles where residents can talk directly with candidates about how specific City Hall decisions have landed in their lives.

Toronto, someone is secretly polluting High Park and one of your friends might be in on it
This is not a normal walk in the park.
You pick up the unfinished case of Berta, an environmental investigator who was this close to exposing a company polluting the park water. Then you follow her trail, solve puzzles, and build the final report before time runs out.
Here is the twist:
At the start, everyone draws a card. That card gives you your role and the intel you start with.
But one of you is the spy.
So to win, you have to do two things at once: finish the investigation and figure out which one of your teammates is lying to your face.
Awkward? Yes. Fun? Also yes.
When: Saturdays Oct 24 and Oct 31, 2 to 5 PM
Where: High Park, Toronto
Sign up here: Link
Bring your phone, comfy shoes, and a healthy distrust of your friends.
Perfect for puzzle lovers, true crime fans, and anyone who has ever wanted to dramatically say “I knew it was you” in a park.
Comment if you are in, or just sign up at the link and pick the date you can make.

Hey! I posted this a bit ago, but life took over.
I've gotten a lot of interest lately in people wanting to meet up with other creatives.
27M musician, I own a recording studio, print band merch and hosts concerts.
I have a friend group of people 22-35 M & F and would love to meet some new like minded people. We're all creatives, from musicians to tattoo artists to writers to photographers and more!
I have decided starting sometime in early November, I'm going to start having bi-weekly or monthly hangouts / games nights / pot luck's at my new studio. It's located across the street from downsview station. If you take the transit, easy to get to. If you're driving we have free parking.
If you're looking to hang out with more creative individuals, or even just go to local concerts (as I host em) shoot me a message or comment below. I will set up a groupchat at some point.
All inclusive, everyone welcome!!! No matter the age either.

Due to a scheduling error at the Cameron House, we are unable to host an event at our regular time of the last Sunday of the month on October 25th. But that’s a blessing in disguise! We’ll be able to keep the Spooky Season going one day longer with our October-ish Halloween Hangover Comic Jam on November 1st!
We’ll have our regular shenanigans going of course, drawing comics together one panel per person at a time, with the added fun of being hungover from Halloween AND daylight savings time! There’s no need to even change out of your costumes from the night before. We’ll have plenty of spooky treats to feast on and a music playlist that some person considers on theme. Maybe we’ll even have a special surprise or two. And of course, we’ll have the latest issue of the pages created last month. So touch up your face paint, chug down some “hair of the wolfdog” and hop a broom over to the The Cameron House Backroom on Sunday November 1st at 7:00pm
This is a FREE event ! Feel free to bring your own zines and comics to sell, trade or share.
This month’s spoopy splash-page was slapped together by the sensationally-spectacular Squishy.
If you've never been to a Comic Jam before, it's pretty simple: Bring your favourite pencils, pens and erasers but we even have some art supplies here for use. You can then start drawing a comic and let everyone else add to it. Or you can add a panel to a comic started by someone else. Or you can do neither and just sit back, listen to music and hangout with people who like comics. It doesn't matter what your drawing background is. Everyone is welcomed as long as they try their best to respect everybody.

What technology is watching us as we move through the city — and how much of it do we actually notice?
Join Civic Tech Brampton for our first inaugural Technology Walk, an outdoor meetup where we’ll walk through downtown Brampton and look at the technology embedded in everyday public spaces.
Along the way, we’ll observe and discuss things like surveillance cameras, sensors, communications infrastructure, public technology, and other systems that shape how cities operate. The goal isn’t just to spot technology, but to ask questions about how it affects privacy, democracy, public accountability, safety, and civic life.
Aarushi and Gurpreet will also introduce Technologists for Democracy, followed by opportunities to discuss ideas, meet other participants, and pitch civic-tech projects.
This is a different kind of Civic Tech meetup: instead of sitting in a room talking about urban technology, we’ll go outside and actually look for it.
Why join?
Observe: See what kinds of technologies are deployed around everyday public spaces.
Learn: Discuss how surveillance and civic technologies work and why cities use them.
Question: Explore issues around privacy, transparency, public safety, democratic oversight, and responsible technology.
Collaborate: Meet students, technologists, professionals, and community members interested in civic technology.
Pitch Your Passion: Have an idea related to privacy, democracy, public infrastructure, open data, or civic tech? Share it with potential collaborators.
New to Civic Tech? Absolutely welcome. No technical background is required. Bring your curiosity and be ready to look at the city a little differently.
📅 Date: Thursday, October 22, 2026
🕕 Meet at: 6:00 PM
🚶 Walk begins: 6:10 PM sharp
📍 Starting point: In front of 8 Queen Street East, Brampton
👟 What to bring: Comfortable walking shoes and a weatherproof jacket
🎟️ Registration: https://luma.com/52wgm67o?tk=iG8L9i
💲Cost: Free
The event involves walking outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
Every step makes an impact.
