Issues/Problems T mobile Home Internet Websites Only Load on Refresh

Hey everyone, I have had t mobile wifi for about 2 months now and have had a mostly good experience. However, this week, I've been having a peculiar issue. Whenever I visit a website, I get an error that I have no Internet connection, but when I refresh once or twice the website loads fine. Has anyone else dealt with this? I have restarted the router countless times and it may temporarily resolve the issue, but it always seems to come back. Let me know, thanks!

Issues/Problems Ping issue

When i first got t mobile 5g home internet over 3 years ago, ping was consistently under 50, last couple months it never hits below 75 anymore averaging between 85 and 110 on gaming (the same game that had under 50 for months before this started happening)

Will upgrading from rely home internet to amplified home internet fix this?

Issues/Problems Small devices (Yoto/Switch) not connecting

I’ve been having ongoing issues with our internet and connecting our small devices.

Backstory- We’ve had T-Mobile home internet for about 3 years? Never had an issue with it. Moved from IL to ND 2 years ago and still no issues. Moved a town over in May and had no issues at first. In June several of our small devices stopped connecting to the internet at the same time- our Yoto minis and Nintendo Switch.

I have been back and forth with T-mobile and Yoto trying to solve this issue. T-Mobile sent us a new router (Inseego FX4100) and it made no difference. It actually made my phone and iPad stop connecting until they changed the settings to 2.4GHz. Yoto sent us a new player, still would not connect. I am able to connect via hotspot but then I use my data and it’s frustrating to do everytime I want to download a new story. I got the brand new Yoto minis that just came out that is supposed to connect better, still will not connect. T-Mobile says it shows connected on their end but it won’t connect to Yoto servers.

I am so done with all of this. I haven’t tried any new settings with the switch, but they tech guys said it’s a known problem that the switch has online gaming issues due to us not having a static IP address. They said we could add on a static IP address for $3-4 a month and that might solve the problem. Does anyone have experience in this and did it fix the problem?

Other things- I live in a more rural area where we sometimes don’t get cell service, but internet hasn’t been a problem until June. The house we just moved in to has a metal roof, does that affect anything? I’ve used the app to find the best spot and we have full bars 5G connection.

Issues/Problems Do they throttle upload now?

I was a trashcan customer for many years and I got close to 1 g upload speed consistently. Of course when congestion happens it drops. But the fact I could get that high.

Now after switching out and back I have a g4 router. I took it literally under the cell tower the max upload I got was exactly 100M. That made me think they now throttle upload? The download I got was 1 g bps no problem.

100 M is good but that’s literally under the tower. In my house I could never get above 15. Most of the time just 6-10m

Other Does a residential line get an IPv6 Prefix?

I currently have a business line, static IP, using a third party gateway. If I enable IPv6 in the gateway and on my router, I'm not able to grab a prefix. Turns out that's by design apparently, as I was told by a few folks when calling that static IP lines do not get a prefix, therefor, only the router will grab a public routable IPv6, not my devices. For residential lines, if you have IPv6 enabled, does your router grab a prefix and give each device it's own public IPv6 address? Thanks!

Issues/Problems G4SE Not Staying on 5G UC

I just got a G4SE with the Rely plan. In the room where the G4SE (and the entire front of my house), my iPhone on T-Mobile stays on 5G UC. The G4SE reports "Excellent" "advanced cellular metrics" but frequently drops down to longer range band b12 LTE. This is on the first floor. I'll try moving the gateway to the second floor to see if I get further improvement in the cellular metrics.

In the current gateway location, it reports LTE metrics of:

  • RSSI: -57, RSRQ: -6, RSRP: -65, SINR: 25 on band b12 on internal omni-directional antenna.

5G, when connected, reports:

  • RSSI: -71, RSRQ: -10, RSRP: -83, SINR: 28 on band n25 on internal omni-directional antenna.

I had the gateway another room where it was using the directional antenna, but the numbers ranged from good to excellent. When I moved it to the front of the house, the numbers improved slightly.

I had one speed test on my iPhone of 749 Mbps down in the front of the house which is truly incredible. I typically see down speeds in the 200's and 300's. Ping and Jitter is much better than I thought wireless would be. Up and down speeds vary considerably, making the gateway more suitable to backup internet than primary internet.

My intention is for this unit to replace my cellular backup over Verizon. The T-Mobile gateway over LTE is substantially faster than my Verizon LTE backup.

Is there anything I can do to have the gateway stay on 5G more often? Should I switch to the Amplified plan to get the G5SE which may stay on 5G UC longer like my iPhone?

As a backup internet, T-Mobile internet with the G4SE on LTE, generally gives me the full bandwidth I need in a backup situation. 200 to 350 Mbps down is fine for backup. Upload speeds have been ranging from 15.6 Mbps to 77 Mbps, which is better than other cellular backup options. The upload speeds work in a backup situation. I've seen 104 Mbps up in the same room on my iPhone. I'm happy so far with the product for backup internet use. Should I just stay on Rely or should I upgrade to Amplified to get the G5SE gateway. I don't need more download bandwidth, especially downloads, but it doesn't hurt to have more.

For backup use, I'd prefer to have the options to turn off the WiFi radios and to get the IP address passthrough to my router, but otherwise it seems like this will work well.

Request Power supply

I just got the TMO-5GMSE. I put it in my window for best signal, but I would like to run the power back to my network closet about 20 feet away where I have a great big UPS. I have a 1/2 inch conduit I could use, or drill a small hole in the floor to get it there.

Are there any known options for this unit either a USB C extension cord that is PD capable or would power over ethernet work even if an adapter would be required at the access point to route the power into the USB C port on it?

Sagemcom Gateway Would upgrading my unit from the Sagemcom to something else give me better results?

Have been using the Sagemcom FAST 5688W for about 3 years now with speeds 300+ to 400+ and gaming pings usually between 40 and 60, so I haven't been too concerned. Now I have the ability to upgrade and was wondering if the newer white looking box is worth it? Would I see any improvement?

Issues/Problems Need help with eero setup

I just switched to tmobile from xfinity and have the TMO-G5MAR gateway. I am trying to connect my eero pro second gen model # B010001. I have the ethernet cable connected between the gateway and my eero device, but the eero has no connectivity. The wifi on the tmobile gateway works, so it has a good connection. The eeros work fine when connected to my cable modem. Is there a way to connect to them to the tmobile gateway? Or would I have to buy t mobile extenders to have mesh?

Edit: i got it working. After connecting, I had to hard reset the eero router, delete my network in the eero app, and then re-add my eero router and beacons. One of the beacons had to be reset a few times before it would work properly (kept getting a message that it was out of range during the placement check step), but eventually it started working again. I'm still dealing with a significant speed difference for devices connected to the eeros via wifi.

Issues/Problems Does this require a different modem? Or is there a fix I can do at home

My upload speed is terrible and I’m constantly lagging and my download speed usually doesn’t even get 100 mpbs doesn’t matter what time of day is this a problem with the modem (it’s a tmo-g4ar) is there a solution I can do at home or do I have to go and get a new box?

Speedtest T mobile speed test

Post image
3 Upvotes

What you see here is a long span of testing.
The 15th and the 1st the weather was not the best and hence why I say weather affects the speed up and down.

As you can see, the upload speeds very greatly and gaming on it, affects it.

Also as noted. I called t mobile in the first to report this situation. All I heard was they are working on x mostly more then it’s crowded.

$50 a month should be more reasonable but seeing the avg is like 75-100 a month i guess nothing anyone can do.

Issues/Problems Worse every day

I’ve had to reset my modem 3 times in the last 4 hours and at least twice a day for the last couple weeks. It’s probably time to switch back to xfinity. If you’re considering signing up for this terrible service don’t. Run while you still can.

Arcadyan G4AR Adding antennas to TMO G4AR

Post image
37 Upvotes

I have the G4AR hooked up to an Asus rt-be86u. This was mostly to add stability and functionality across multiple locations with streaming platforms.

I don't get the best signal on the G4AR but speeds have been fine for our needs. Would small antennas like the Asus work well on the back of the G4AR?

Not sure I want to add an external antenna yet. I've heard they work but getting one through my roof and walls will be challenging.

I have 3 towers in a triangle pattern with my house in the middle. Around a mile or so.

Bands at the north tower: 71, 25, 41, 66, 2.

Bands at the SE tower: 71, 25, 41, 66, 2, 12, 71

Bands at the SW tower: 41, 66, 2, 12, 71

I don't need the fastest speeds but want reliability and consistent wifi which has helped adding the Asus. Any help is appreciated 👍

Arcadyan G4AR Internet Cuts Out Even When Connected

The T-Mobile home Internet connection on my phone and MacBook seem to cut out periodically throughout the day even though it shows that I have a full connection. I go from being able to refresh my email or search eBay and then when I walk upstairs I can’t refresh emails or get updates on other apps like fantasy football. I usually have to turn WiFi off and turn it back on temporarily from the slide down option or in settings to get it to work. Something to note is that I do have Proton VPN but those are usually off or I have deleted it off of my phone but this didn’t fix the problem. I have 4 out of 5 bars on the gateway. I usually get like 400 download and 27-30 upload. Anyone know what the situation might be?

Arcadyan G4AR “No SIM Card” on gateway’s screen

I’ve got a T-Mobile gateway through Mint home internet. (The model number is TMO-G4AR.) It worked great for five months and yesterday, it stopped working. There’s an alert saying “No SIM Card” on the screen. I followed all the troubleshooting steps and had no success. Mint has been unable to help me.

Does anyone know what I need to do to get it working again? Do I need a new SIM or a new gateway? Just trying to figure out what to ask Mint for so they don’t try to tell me it’s a “local service outage”, when there is no local service outage.

Issues/Problems IPv4 failures and having to use a VPN to connect

For the last week or so, my T-Mobile Home Internet has been increasingly unreliable. Certain websites would time out repeatedly, while others worked perfectly. It's gotten worse, to the point that IPv4 connections are now nearly unusable.

I used Codex to help diagnose the problem, and it turns out IPv6 is working great, but IPv4 connections are failing most of the time. Interestingly, if I connect through Cloudflare WARP (VPN), everything works perfectly again.

Some of the testing results:

- Direct IPv4 HTTPS connections failed 43 out of 60 attempts across several unrelated websites.

- IPv6 connections succeeded 20 out of 20 attempts.

- With WARP connected, all 60 IPv4 attempts succeeded.

- Even direct connections to IPv4 addresses fail, so it doesn't appear to be just a DNS issue.

- When testing with my phone(also on T-Mobile) it will fail to load the site on Wi-Fi, but work perfectly when I disconnect and use cellular.

I called T-Mobile support, and they opened a ticket to investigate possible network issues in my area. They're also sending me a replacement gateway since I'm still using an older Arcadyan KVD21 that I've had for years.

Interestingly, after one restart, I got 30 successful connections out of 30, but about 10 minutes later, 13 out of 30 were timing out again. Since then, things have deteriorated even further.

Hopefully either the network investigation or the replacement gateway resolves it.

Unfortunately, T-Mobile is my only realistic internet option where I live. If this continues, the only workaround I can think of is putting another router behind the gateway and routing everything through a VPN. I'd really rather avoid that because it introduces other issues, particularly with streaming and some of my work.

I've searched through older posts and found a few people describing similar IPv4 problems, but not much in the way of confirmed solutions. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did T-Mobile eventually resolve it, and do you know what they actually did to fix it?

**Update**

So the new modem came in today. Not only did my speed go up significantly, nearly three times faster, but the IPv4 issue appears to be resolved over multiple tests over the last hour. If anyone else is reading this with the same issue, I highly recommend asking them to replace your modem.

Issues/Problems T-Mobile /Xfinity Failover Success

Post image
21 Upvotes

I previously posted that I would trash Xfinity after successfully testing TMHI for 30 days in addition to adding MoCA devices for improved throughput without relying solely on my eero devices to handle the wifi. My OCD wants to see how far I can go down home network configurationville so I've since decided to downgrade to the Xfinity Now 100 Mbps plan as a backup. I purchased an Omada router and was able to successfully set up the device to failover after testing . Here's the diagram of the new setup. I swear I am so done with tinkering with my home network. I keep going further and further down the home network rabbit hole! .🤣
