[request] Downforce to lift a 2 ton car

The rocket has massive thrust generated by fuel to lift it off. If the Tesla roadster thrust is purely generated by air and electricity how much energy is needed to lift the car like how it was shown in the demo? How much air will it take to lift it up?

Elon’s Flying Car-Real? [request]

Can apparently jump at least double the height of a Tesla semi, do barrel rolls and land softly, using 550# of compressed air? Leaving aside why it didn’t crash to the ground when upside down (no thrusters on top) is this enough reaction mass? Do the physics of flying work?

[request] How much energy would the compressed air tank release if it were to explode

Post image

I’m curious whether the compressed-air tank could pose a safety risk if it were to rupture or explode in a crash. I’m guessing the Roadster will be driven on tracks quite a lot, so sooner or later, crashes will happen.
Wouldn’t having a 300-bar compressed-air tank behind the driver be potentially dangerous, both for the occupants and for people nearby? How would Tesla protect against this kind of failure in a serious collision?

[Request] Tesla Roadster Demo: Tesla claims the car was able to drive inverted on the ramp because of suction motors acting like a vaccum under the car. How much suction would the suction motors need to generate to be able to pull this off?

Although landing the car is pretty wild, we've seen Elon catch falling rockets before. The suction motors, if real, seem too insane to be true.

[Request] You're not winning the lottery, guy.

I was in a discussion with a co-worker about the lottery. He plays once a week and has for a number of years. I mentioned that I didn't. He said he always plays the same numbers every week, not because they're lucky, but because he believes that playing the same numbers every week somehow increases his odds of winning. I couldn't get any sort of rational explanation for this and I tried to explain to him that because every lottery drawing is from all the possible numbers available in the drawing, he has the same possibility of winning regardless of the numbers that he plays. Only if he bought more than one ticket with different sets of numbers, in any one drawing, did he actually increase his chance of winning. He refused to believe that I was right and he was wrong. Neither of us really has the math to justify our opinions. Can someone help prove me right?

[Request] if the powerball lottery was hidden in a building instead, what are the equivalents of guessing the right building/home?

For example, getting 1 red powerball number gets you 4$, a 1 in 38 chance

The buildings are something close to

100 million single family homes (SFH).

5.2 million multifamily residential buildings (everything from duplexes to large high rises), containing 40 million housing units.

5.5 million commercial buildings.

350,000 industrial buildings.

240,000 military buildings.

So the question is, what powerball odds are equivalent to things like “guessing the right state” or “guessing the right street” or “guessing the right county”

Tesla Roadster as a weapon [Request]

Assume the following facts, a Tesla Roadster is 1700kg. It can accelerate to 60mph in 0.8 seconds. Without propulsion assist, it can accelerate to 60mph in 2 seconds (Plaid time). 6 nozzles expel pressurized air backward to generate the additional thrust. What if a 0.1kg metal ball is placed snug into a nozzle. What is the force at full acceleration, is the ball ejected? Can it exceed the force of a 50-cal sniper rifle?

[Self] If there's a reasoning A which has k complementary data and there's a another reasoning B with a decrease of minute k in the k complementary data , if there's an infinite of decreasing approximations of them

Of a well suited holomorphic topology

Then , there's an oscillating series of the infinite end case, hence thus reasoning is a oscillating series

[Request] What is the size of the trolls in this Swedish children song?

Translated it goes like this:

Once there was an ugly, old and wicked troll,
who came to this country in a hot-air balloon.
He settled down in Småland,
with his head on Åland,
and his feet, at the very same time, in Lund.
And the old troll had a troll wife, too.
Her nose was as big as all of Amsterdam.
She cooked up the food
and served it on plates,
a cake made out of sand,
as big as all of Svealand.
And the old troll had an old tomcat,
who was as big as the whole Kattegat.
Far away in Yokohama,
you could hear him yowling,
and his tail was as round
as the whole Öresund.
And so this little tale ends for now,
for the trolls have already left in their balloon.
Now they must be near the North Pole,
or perhaps right in the middle of the Sun.
And dear friend,
they'll never come back again.

I can see that the geographic references is both here and there but could the size of the trolls be decided?

[Request] How long do we reckon?

Every thousand years
This metal sphere..

Ten times the size of Jupiter
Floats just a few yards past the earth..

You climb on your roof
And take a swipe at it..

With a single feather
Hit it once every thousand years..

Til you've worn it down
To the size of a pea..

Yeah, I'd say that's a long time.
