Does anyone seem know why certain malefactors seem to like or tolerate each other while? while others seem to hate each other? It's been a long time but I remember in the first and second game seeing Slayers fighting mainliners, festers, gorgers, and Isolationists. While mainliners fought Slayers, burrowers, arsonists, and Isolationists. I seem to remember the Isolationist hating all of the other malefactors (except the wretch it would spawn) and would fight to the death with any of them it saw. Is there a reason behind all this? Is it just a random hate for one another?

Seeing how well the reskate project is going over at r/Skate4 , I’m eager to see what else can be done. I don’t have the means to try myself right now, but I just want to put the idea out there

I wonder if it's possible to have Torque being forced to enlist in the military in order to reduce his sentence, he would be sent to a battlefield somewhere and the malefactors he encounters there could be based on the atrocities and sins related to war.

Edit: I just finished the game! Got the good ending. Which ending is considered canon?

I'd forgotten how late in the game they introduce the Inferna. It's in the second-to-last level, but the game's been teasing them since immediately after you escape the prison on your way to the asylum. They're a cool enemy, but they're kind of op and I wish we'd gotten more time with them

I'm replaying for the first time in about a decade, and I'm on Chapter 17. Unfortunately, in Chapter 16, I died after saving Harley and his friend right after picking up the radio printout and getting the checkpoint. Instead of reloading, I kept going from the checkpoint. The sound is super wonky now with delayed and missing sound effects. I no longer hear burrowers moving through the ground, and the sound of them emerging and attacking now happens several seconds after the fact. The note from the radio room has disappeared from my inventory and doesn't reappear if I go back to the radio room. I also can't pick up the molotovs in the radio room, but I can still pick up other stuff, luckily. I saved several minutes later in chapter 17 before I really noticed how weird everything had gotten. I've tried reloading the save, resetting the game, and just turning the system all the way off and back on again. Nothing has worked. It doesn't seem to be stopping me from progressing, but the wonky sound isn't getting any better, and has made the game super annoying to play. The missing note from the radio room is still gone also. Am I going to have to start over to fix this?

Note: I'm playing the disc on an actual unmodded ps2, with a real first party memory card, and hooked up to a RetroTink.

Hey guys, check out my custom setup for The Suffering on PCSX2!The resolution upscale combined with Marty McFly's RTGI mod makes the atmosphere look incredible, but I'm still trying to fix the annoying ghosting/split effect on the fire, lamps, and syringe HUD.What do you think of the look so far? Any advice for the bloom bug?

Hi! I’m a huge fan of "The Suffering" and I’ve been experimenting with the NVIDIA RTX Remix Runtime on my PC (running an AMD RX 7800 XT).

The runtime hooks into the game perfectly via Vulkan, but since there isn't a dedicated mod configuration yet, the game looks completely broken: it's missing proper light sources, assets have no material properties (everything looks like shiny plastic), and cull/render issues make walls glitch out.

Is anyone in the community currently working on a dedicated RTX Remix Mod for this game? Or is there any interest in creating a proper Toolkit project to manually map out the prison lights, fix the rendering bugs, and give this classic horror the true Path Tracing upgrade it deserves?

I would love to test out any early builds or configs if anyone is working on it!

Don't move or I will destroy you! Got it? Have you understood me, prisoner? is the English translation of this.

In German when saying this phrase, the verb will come first unlike in English, Beweg means move. Dich means you. and Nicht means not. the literal translation of the first part is Move yourself not.

For English speakers to pronounce this you can say it like this:

Beh-vayk dich nikht oh-dah eesh mahkh dich fair-tikh! kah-peert? Hast doo meesh fair-shtahn-den. heft-ling?

Some helpful tips to help you understand Dich and Du both mean you but are used differently, Dich will be used when someone is commanding you to do something to yourself in this case do not move (beweg dich nicht). and to a English speaker the words may seem out of order but this is normal in German, for the last bit verstanden is at the end because when there are 2 verbs the main verb (main action must go to the very end).

Beweg = Move

dich = You

Nicht = not

oder = or

ich = I

mach = do it

fertig = Multiple meanings "Finished" "Ready" depending on the context it could be used to say dinner is ready or in this case I will destroy you which is what the guard is saying. All together Ich mach fertig will always mean I will destroy you.

Kapiert = Got it

Hast = Have

du = You

mich = Me

verstanden = Understood

häftling = Prisoner

The German version of the game is not only censored visually, but the dialogue with the characters is not word for word replica of what they are saying in the English version, for example in ties that bind when Miles asks Torque, "Where is your head at?", in the German version he is saying Where are your thoughts?"

But for the most part, what they are saying is very similar and almost the same. I am continuing to play the German version of the game, not sure if I can run into some parts where the dialogue is toned down.

Here during the first part of the game the guard asks Torque "Inmate is this true?" this was after Ernesto told him about what Torque was accused of even though the guard said he didn't want to know.

In German, they say this as "Häftling stimmt das?"

Then how you say the next part when Ernesto says "Oh he won't say"

in German you say Oh the same way in English "Oh das wird er nicht sagen"

In the next installment of the suffering what happens next? We know the developers intentionally made the first and 2nd game ending to be left on a cliffhanger, they did this so if they ever wanted to make another game, they could expand off the ending of the last game. First game was a massive hit, 2nd game wasn't so successful and even after the 2nd game there were talks from the development team from expanding the suffering series, but it never happened. The 2nd game just didn't sell enough, and midway was already going through financial difficulties which later they went bankrupt and sold all assets to Warner Brothers.

for those who didn't know there were talks about making a movie about the suffering with MTV films, it started production in 2006 and then got cancelled shortly after the lead monster creator Stan Winston died. Without him development of the movie stalled and was eventually abandoned.

I would love to see the work that went into it.
