Consignor Question is it realistic or foolish to think buyers wear items and return them? zero judgement

As I've spent more and more time on TRR over the past year sourcing inventory for my business, I notice many more expen$ive designer items being bought and returned - a $15K Dior Galliano Maasai necklace or a $6K Chloé McCartney silk dress. Am I being too pessimistic thinking that buyers could easily gently wear said items and then return them? 1000% I expect big AND smaller purchases to be returned if they don't fit/aren't as described/ etc - I return all the time! - but I genuinely am curious if anyone in this sub has done or knows of this practice occurring more often than not. I am hesitating to send some rarer items in to TRR bc they do have any sort of "if this tag is removed, this item cannot be returned" measures in place. It seems like such a simple thing to institute and consignors would possibly consider going to TRR more (despite the myriad of other issues they have lol) lmk any and all thoughts!

Vent The Real Real tried to grossly overcharge me for a product that can be purchased brand new directly from the brand.

I bought the “Wild Rag” from Guest in Residence on TRR. It got delivered today.
I went on Guest in Residence’s actual website to see what other colors the scarf came in. I realize that they’re selling it for $145.
I purchased this item used from The RealReal and they were selling it for $335 with a discount bringing it down to $284.
I went on chat support to speak with The RealReal and they gave me some AI generated answer basically saying that based on market demand, that is how they price their products to consumers.
Beware that you may be overpaying for a product that you can buy directly from the brand themselves.
I will be returning the scarf to The RealReal.
Honestly, kind of grossed out by them right now…..like wtf
