Recommendation Chai latte with alternative milk?

I love a chai latte (hot or cold), but it tends to give me stomach problems. I usually order it from a mainstream coffee shop and it’s served with skimmed milk.

I wondered if it’s any better with something like coconut or oat milk, for example? I’m interested to find out how other people take it.

Question/Help hate tea, but also new to tea, looking for help trying again.

Hello, I actually hate tea that I have tried from my girlfriend in the last few years but she gets sweated ice teas generally from fast food places. Although when I was a kid my cousin had made me some tea with sugar and honey in it and I absolutely loved it.

So I am looking to try tea again, what I have decided on so far was this kettle Gooseneck Electric Kettle, ±1℉ Temperature Control. Apart from this I know I need something to hold the tea leaves and something to put that in but honestly I just have no idea what to get for those. I only know that for the kettle I wanted the precise control but I am not set on that kettle.

I also picked an assortment of tea samplers from adagio teas. The ones I picked are: orchard green teas, orchard white teas, orchard oolong teas, earl grey teas, fruit bomb teas and berries teas.

Question/Help I could use some advice on this tea.

Long story short, I bought this tea for my diabetic father and am trying to figure out how many tea bags to seep for 12hrs to make a gallon of tea. I am unfamiliar with cold brew tea and usually just use 3 lipton black tea bags brought to a boil. I then cut the heat and seep for 30mins. Any suggestions is appreciated! I just want to make my dad some semi strong tea.

Question/Help Fellow Stagg or Corvo ?

Post image
52 Upvotes

Apologies if this isn’t the correct sub or if asked before.

I have some Amazon credit and been eyeing the Fellow Kettles but was wondering which would be best to get. I currently bring to temperature a pot of water and use a thermometer but it’s tedious since I can’t get it to stay a consistent. I bought a cheaper kettle on Amazon but the temperature was off by 5-10 degrees so I returned.

It would mainly be used for making matcha and green teas.
I see most people gravitate towards the gooseneck and see its primary use is for pour over coffee yet I don’t think I’ll be drinking pour over coffee. But was also wondering if the Corvo spout would be too much?

Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance 😊

Question/Help How do I make Matcha Tea without a bamboo whisk?

I went to the health food store, saw matcha powder in the bulk section, so I got some. I have never had it before. I came home and looked up how to make matcha tea, and it says to use a  bamboo whisk (chasen), which I do not have. Can I just use a fork or chopsticks to stir it around?

PS: how would it taste? What taste does it resemble? Thanks.

Edit: If bulk matcha will not make good tea, what else can I use the powder in?

Identification what can you tell me about this tea (and is it mislabeled)?

my mom got this tea from the estate of someone she knows who passed away recently, so i don't know its exact origin. my photo translate app told me it's silver needle, and i got excited to try it, since i remember liking the silver needle teavana used to have, but the bag (3rd pic) says something different - if anyone is at all familiar i'd love to hear your insight. (the translation app doesn't work super well, but from what i managed to get i suspect it's actually a green tea? i'm not a fan of green teas so won't try it & will pass it on if that turns out to be the case)

Very earthy taste to it, kinda how I would imagine tree bark to taste… the aroma is slightly smoky. Very forgettable tea in my opinion! I think I’ll go back to my green teas for tomorrow’s review

A calm day on the great lakes calls for a pot of tea and a good book. I brewed it on the roof because of the likelihood of spilling.

Sadly, this may be my last outing of the year before the boat goes away for the season.

I love tea but I'm trying to wind down better at night, what do you drink in the evening when you want the ritual without the caffeine keeping you up?

Been using this tea pot a lot recently and i can keep it decently clean except for the “strainer” since the holes are too small for anything to fit. The tea stains are just a lil too much for my comfort and its feeling kinda dirty to use lol

Photo Does Tung Ting Oolong still taste good after over 10 years of accidental aging?

I recently discovered two 300g tins of TenRen Tung Ting Oolong hiding in my cupboard. Both are still factory sealed, with an expiry date of January 2017, so I suspect they’re over 10 years old.

This wasn’t intentional aging. I simply forgot I had them! 😂 They’ve been stored in a cupboard in Brisbane, Australia (humid subtropical climate), without any special aging conditions. I’m curious whether Tung Ting Oolong can still taste good after over 10 years of accidental aging.

I’m very tempted to open one tin and try it while keeping the other for another 20 years. 😂 Or perhaps list the other one on eBay for sale if it still tastes good.

Has anyone tried Tung Ting Oolong this old? Does it develop interesting flavours, or does it simply lose its original aroma and freshness?

From a previous session, my usual gyokuro from Kurihara farm. I liked this year's production but I miss some nuttiness from previous years. Apart from that, it was fantastic in the usual method, using water at around 50 to 55 C, 2 minutes steep time for the first cup and then 1 minutes, 45 sec, 30 sec, 15 sec with boiling water. Now if you want a lot of umami, use room temp water and steep around 15 minutes.

Photo Preserved some tea leaves post-brew to display

One thing i love about brewing loose leaf teas is admiring all of the different shapes and colors of the leaves. Recently I've started to pick out leaves I find particularly beautiful and dry + press them flat in between tissues in a heavy book. Makes for a unique way to preserve the leaves - useful for art projects + journaling purposes!

Tip for better preservation: once it's completely dry, you can place the leaf on a thin piece of plastic and fully cover it with double sided tape. You can then cut around the shape of the leaf and stick it wherever you like

I have finally decided to respect the leaf (i. e. got tired of fishing loose leaves on the loose using gaiwan) and collected proper setup of unglazed stoneware houhin and a yunomi cup.

Winter come at me, I am ready.

Discussion Wich aroma do you exceptionally like in some teas?

I recently reflected on how much I liked the range of honey in tea. Wondering which aroma you recently put concious awareness on.

(Currently drinking a qiaomu hongcha from Banna House)

Question/Help What's in your cup? Daily discussion, questions and stories - October 22, 2026

What are you drinking today? What questions have been on your mind? Any stories to share? And don't worry, no one will make fun of you for what you drink or the questions you ask.

You can also talk about anything else on your mind, from your specific routine while making tea, or how you've been on an oolong kick lately. Feel free to link to pictures in here, as well. You can even talk about non-tea related topics; maybe you want advice on a guy/gal, or just to talk about life

in general.

Question/Help Looking to upgrade my tea game - best vendor(s)/products for these preferences?

I love drinking tea and want to finally upgrade my tea collection, esp. w/good-quality loose-leaf. Some teas I've enjoyed in the past:

  • Milk Oolong: Especially the richer creamy/buttery varieties. Years ago, my family would buy vacuum-sealed packs imported from overseas that we'd keep in the freezer, but not sure from where. I wouldn't mind trying a few varieties to see which I like more.
  • Black Tea: In general, but esp. ones like Tealyra's Yunnan Golden Special - have bought it on Amazon and enjoy it - would like to get similar teas + maybe higher quality alternative of this one (if it's not hi-quality).
  • Roasted Grain Tea: Like those teas in Korean restaurants - I've had diff. ones, and not sure if it's barley/rice/corn etc., but I like that stronger roasted grain flavor. I heard these are good to get at H-mart - any recommendations for brands? Is loose/tea bag better?

Ideally, I'd love to order at least some of these from the same vendor to save on shipping & avoid the hassle. NJ/NYC area.

Something reasonably priced - doesn't have to be super cheap or some rare collector's item. Since I'll drink these regularly, prefer reputable sources for good quality and minimize unhealthy chemicals/additives.

Recommendation Recommendations for hojicha newbies?

I am an avid black/green/matcha drinker, but I also love coffee. I’ve recently discovered the concept of hojicha and since I already love matcha but prefer nutty/warm/roasted flavors like coffee and a robust Irish breakfast tea, I’d really like to give it a try.

Anyone have suggestions for a quality brand I can get in the US for a reasonable price? I want to give it a fair try, so I don’t need the absolute cheapest thing on the market, but I also don’t want to invest in a $200 tiny tin like I accidentally did the first time I tried matcha 😅 Just in case I don’t like it as much as I thought I would.
