Hi. What’s the sound of electric piano on “Misty Mountain Hop” of Led Zeppelin?

I honestly think it's somewhat close to the sort of music I'd already make, which is somewhat simple acid/psy trance, but I kept it simple with rolling synth bass on 8ths usually, arpeggio, 4 on the floor with SN on 2 and 4.

Seems really close to what I'd normally do, just 100 tempo rather than 140...

This is what I gathered makes synthwave really sound synthwavey

- old 80s style synths

- rolling synth bass on 8ths

- either 4 on floor BD or on the 1 and 3

- SN on 2 and 4, HH on eighths with synth bass

- some reverb on snare, but gate it I think?

- PAD?

- basic arpeggio on 8ths rolling through whatever chord progression

- simple natural minor scale progressions? Is major scale often used or does it stop feeling like synthwave? Any other scales?

- no strong distortion/delay/chorus it seems like?

My game looks very Tron-like so it definitely fits the theme. I'm doing everything in FL Studio, and want to make a full synthwave soundtrack for it. My first attempt, I put here and used it as the title screen track: https://digitalpunkgame.com

I'm curious if I'm missing any core elements where people just wouldn't process it as synthwave.

There is a hard and fast rule about "no self promotion" which people try to get around. An exception to this rule has always been live performance. However, there is one individual who has been abusing this exception so from now on all live performance posts will result in removal and a 1wk ban in line with self promotion posts.

It's really not that hard to follow the rules.

Inspiration is IRIS by TR/ST. If you know his work you'll understand how I've listened to *literally* hundreds of songs and still haven't found something that compares.

Emotional dance music, dark, confessional, dynamic, but ultimately hopeful. Weaving luminous synth-pop lines through abrasive industrial pulses to shape sweeping tracks saturated with yearning, desire, and desolation. Wide-ranging electronic pop that consistently foregrounds empathy.

I don't expect vocals, but trying to get emotionally as close to this as possible, with your own spin on it of course.

This is a film drama/romance with psychological elements and subtle themes involving mental health.

Paid, but it is a micro-budget 30 minute complete short that also doubles as a proof of concept for a feature if we get funded (more opportunity!)

I’m looking for one project I can really get behind.
I want to find an artist/song where I hear something in it and think: yeah, I want to be part of this. Not just send back a mix, collect a payment and move on.
So I’m offering a free mix & master to someone who’s working on music they genuinely care about.
If I connect with the song, I’ll put a lot of time and energy into it. I love this stuff, and when a project becomes a personal thing for me, I’m pretty much all in.
