Stop Motion with kids
Hey everyone.
I've been lurking here for a while, completely blown away by some of the projects you all create. I teach early primary, and I've been trying to bring more stop motion into my classroom. As I teach younger kids, the available apps had too many menus, too many features, and the actual magic of animating got totally lost in the UI.
Because I firmly believe the learning objective has to drive the technology and not the other way around, I just ended up building my own over the last few months. It’s called Amber Animator. I tried to strip away all the noise and distractions so the kids can focus on the core concepts of moving their characters frame by frame.
I’m finally taking a deep breath and revealing it to this community. You all have infinitely more experience with the actual craft of stop motion than I do, and I am wide open to any and all feedback. My only goal here is to make this a better tool to teach the fundamentals and help younger kids genuinely fall in love with the art form without getting frustrated by the software.
I’ll drop the link in the comments if you’re willing to take a look. It's compeltely ad free and 100% on device and provacy focussed. If anyone feels like testing it out and making a quick clip, I'd absolutely love to show it to my students to inspire them with what the pros can do.
