I already own STALKER series on Steam. I wanted to finally try GAMMA through GOG. It costs about 2 meals in where i live so it's not really big of a deal to buy it again. What i want to know is:
- If i download it through GOG, can i still add/remove mods? If yes, how? I don't like few features such as merchants not selling any guns at all and artifact degradation.
I prefer vanilla STALKER but i want to give GAMMA a shot because i played the original many times alongside with mods like COC.
I heard GAMMA is highly customizable so i'm assuming i can turn off stuff i don't like through MCM, right?
I could also just refund it if i don't like it i guess but i just wanted to ask here first...
I'd like to know what's the difference between regular weapons (PTM and Viper. for example) and their Monolith counter parts found in the Journalist Stashes. Are the Monolith versions better? Do they offer different upgrades?
Hi, i'm replaying the series and try to see everything so multiple playthroughs and at the moment i'm playing call of pripyat.
I'm enjoying it so much again that i bought Stalker 2 with the DLC in the Steam sale and now im wondering if it's better the first time to play with or without the DLC.
Was watching this guy's 150+ things missing in stalker 2 video. Like legit the first thing he says is tall trees. Im sorry what? Tall trees is... ok. Well Red Forest giant trees are there.
He showed footage from enhanced Clear sky and passed it off as OG footage. He tried showing off things that were missing but I could have sworn the video looked dated and found out that his bird shooting point included video ripped directly out of Zone Slug's video from more than a year ago.
I got to looking into it further and he has a "stalker 2 raw" playlist with all unlisted videos on his channel.
IN that video, from like 2 days ago, it has the 1.0 stalker 2 inventory. You know the kind with the artifacts on the bottom instead of the side.
I think this dude is russian and is using... lets just say "Acquired" versions of stalker to "prove" his points. That or lift videos from other creators because he doesnt know how to "acquire" updated versions of the game.
I am about to finish the mission "The destructive power of the mind" in the Cost of Hope DLC, and I'm getting this progression locking bug while trying to leave X16 in which there is this ceiling blocking me from going up the stairs.... Anybody else experience this? I chose to side with Freedom if that helps at all.
So it's my second playthrough for achievements and somehow the Zone's deadliest predator trophy didn't pop in this time either. I started collecting the mutant parts just in case I miss any type. And nothing. I've tried everything: I killed every type of poltergeist, I killed rats with pistol, shotgun and grenade, I even killed them with a knife and still nothing. What should I do? I feel like this trophy is just broken
The reply bellow was motivated by being banned from a GAMMA's Discord help topic, related to installation issues with Grok's Instaler 8.6.
There was other user with a problem similar than mine, i.e.: Grok´s Installer, on it's current version, in several cases refuses to download many of the mods comprised inside GAMMA - as explained in detail in my response above, directed to the Discord admin that banned me "live", at the exact time I was trying to help the OP (at Discord), concerning his issue. This is a catastrophic bug, once it plainly and simply prevents, in several cases, GAMMA from launching correctly (as hapenned with myself...).
I linked the thread bellow, extracted from this very Reddit, that is where I found the solution to the problem in question:
Beware that this first thread makes reference to another one, that contains part of the solution to the bug, as follows (credit for the solution goes to Reddit's users "spoiler8412" and "Least_Dirt_2660"):
... And the act of posting here the content of my reply to the GAMMA Discord admin comes out of frustration caused by SOME of these so called "helpers" behavior, and also frustration with the unresolved installation bug itself, showed by the current Grok's Installer version.
So, here it goes. Enjoy!:
"As I told you inside the topic: my only objective was to help. No need to pull your hair off.
I saw SEVERAL CASES of users that are being blocked at ModDB/GamerNexus servers when trying to install/update their GAMMA distro through the current version of Grok's Installer. It seems this happens because there is an incorrect bot flagging at the aforementioned servers when a player try to use the tool. A varying number of mods (depends on the user) will simply refuse to download. The problem seems to be country-related (by the user's side).
As the Reddit thread I linked proves:
1) It is a known issue for SEVERAL MONTHS now;
2) It affects a considerable number of users (as the replies on Reddit show);
3) To me, it seems to happen because ModDB hosts their files on a rack comprising half a dozen 386 SX rigs runnig Windows NT, stored inside the basement of the website's owner grandmother - since we're in 2026, and they cannot identify a legit request comming from Grok's Installer from a DDOS attempted attack - and neither Grok Installer has a workaround to bypass it (!!!)...;
4) The "helpers" at Discord: A) Don't give a damn; or B) Do not have the slightest clue as how to solve the issue (as more than a couple topics of the genre sit there without reply as of today; plus the Reddit threads already discussed);
5) It is true! There is a Discord topic containing a ".7Z" file containig all the modpacks that are comprised inside GAMMA. Problem is: this file is older than the Titanic, and any users subjected to the ModDB connection issue trying to use it will be rewarded by being subjected to THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM the topic containing the file is supposed to correct ("Skill issue, perhaps??").
So, after the community members outside the Discord channel found a solution to the problem BY THEMSELVES, I see it is too much four your ego to recognize it.
Well, it is a good thing that forums like Reddit exist, and users that cannot find any help - as I coudn´t - on the "official" place to do that, can find a path to solve their problems elsewhere.
So, as abundantly explained: I do not had the pretention to show off. I was just trying to end the frustration of another fellow player - so that he perhaps do not have to spend his entire weekend (as I did) looking for a solution to his problem.
And do not worry: I never intend to come back to your little Discord channel again. My first try was enough.
Now if you excuse me, after I found the solution for the endemic, unresolved problem your Installer is having, I want to enjoy a little the new Romeo modpack. The visuals are gorgeous.
I wish we get a truly living world in Stalker 2 soon, between this and Project A-life in Zomboid, Stalker is really getting left behind in their own game.
Playing fresh game with only OXA Prototype mod installed and get this missing texture, can anyone explain? I have been working on a solution for about four days, and it is still not resolved.
I haven't played Stalker 2 since Jan. 2025. Played about 40 hours vanilla and then another 40 modded. Either got bored running around or broke my save with mods, can't remember why I stopped playing. Downloading it now on PC and about to jump back in.
Has there been big changes in vanilla? Should I run mods? What are some must have mods for stability? (5600X, 5700XT, 32 GB RAM, NVME SSD) What are some quality of life mods that aren't too game breaking?
Looking forward to revisiting the zone but I'm old now and don't have the time or patience for a slog. Though I am down for a potential Gamma run once I get back into the rhythm of the game. Might also pick up Cost of Hope depending how hooked back into the series I get.
I get bored most days but I do find it exhilarating just walking the zone and seeing random stuff happen to me or other stalkers. Usually I’m about as drunk as skiff after some “radiation therapy” but I’m waiting to complete the main story before the point of no return and still have days where I’m not entertained yet some are the opposite. Maybe just try the ward ending and have a save before the point of no return? Haven’t played the dlc yet and I am new to the franchise so any advice is welcome
