look at my gear New Gear After 10 Years

Finally got a new setup, used to just buy used. Gonna be way more than usual this year so I bought some clearance Falcors and a T Rice Pro from last year. Also got a killer deal on some mint Atlas Kazus on Marketplace for the 2017 Skunk Ape. Loved the Skunk Ape and had to get another Lib Tech. Had some old used Forces on the Ape and loved them but they were falling apart and I wanted something stiffer and figured I’d try out the Atlas’s. Hoping to have one stiff fast board and a more playful board to mess around on in the park which is why the Falcors made sense. Anyone got a similar setup? Also anyone with Falcor’s want to let me know what they think of them? I find just on the ground the side to side play is way more than I am used to. I guess I’ll see how they feel on snow never ridden anything like them.

Gear question Bataleon Binding Knowledge & Frankenbinding combinations

Post image
2 Upvotes

Long time snowboarder, first time Redditer...

A couple of years ago I was looking to buy a set of Bataleon Astro Asym bindings, but there was no stock available near me. I ended up finding Atom's for an amazing price... then 2 weeks later found Blaster's for an amazing price.

I've ridden both now and they're both awesome in their own right... but I always feel like I'm either side of the ideal binding, little too stiff or a little too soft. Seems like I have Freestyle & Freeride covered, but for All-Mountain neither feel perfect.

It took me a couple of years (I'm a bit slow) but I've finally realized I can put the Atom Infinity straps & Duracush Footbed onto the Blaster chassis & highback... This in theory makes an Atom, with the exception of the highback flex on the Blaster I believe is a bit softer than the Astro.

Unfortunately I have to wait until January before I'm able to trial this, but I want to gauge people's opinions who have ridden both the Astro and Blaster to see how much difference there is in the highback, and if there's anything else that might be different that I've missed?

Gear question Capita equalizer vs Salomon Rumblefish

• Upvotes

I am really torn between these 2 boards and need advice. This is my 4th year really snowboarding, I work at a resort in Colorado so I’m riding all the time and am looking for a mostly every day board. I would say I’m advanced, I gravitate towards steeps and trees but also spend a lot of time on groomers, which can be super shitty (icy/chunder/rocks/ect…) when I’m working.

I currently rip a K2 extravision and I do really like it but I’m looking for a step up. I’m worried the equalizer is gonna be too similar to my current board but that the rumblefish is gonna be a bit too much.

If anyone has insight I would really appreciate it, especially if you have experience moving up from the extravision.

I’m also open to other suggestions, these are just the two I’ve been looking at the most. Thanks!

Also for reference I’m 5’1 - 120 - 26 y/o female

Gear question Airblaster History Question

Post image
71 Upvotes

Any of the old heads over there know the history behind these leg bags? I’ve been riding with them for over 16 years now and am trying to track down the story of where they came from.

Back around 2008/2009, my local rep Scott told me they were part of a collab—possibly with Spacecraft or Satellite. Does anyone remember the official history or release details for these?

Appreciate the help, stay awesome!

So I bought a new pair of Nidecker cascade snowboard boots and my boot liner pull tab just snapped. Been trying to find replacement parts online but am having a hard time so far. Any recommendations? Is it even necessary if I just have a good BOA? Pretty new to all of this

im looking to get out there a lot so need recommendations or help deciding. I have a seperate board for powder riding as I will be out west. But looking for something for park/ everyday mountain.

I grew up surfing so I ride similarly and enjoy that flows feeling. From the ice coast so been used to that but will be out west all winter. Let me know!

Gear question Korua Otto 161 vs Otto Plus 161 – help me decide

Hey everyone! I’m trying to decide between the Korua Otto 161 and Otto Plus 161 and would appreciate some real-world advice.
I’m 191 cm and 82–85 kg. I’ve been snowboarding for 6 seasons, but I’ve always rented my gear. This will be my first own setup.
I mainly ride groomed pistes (Jahorina) and want a board that can handle high speeds and confident carving, but I also want to cruise around at slower speeds and enjoy relaxed, all-day riding when I feel like it.
I’m not interested in park riding or serious tricks, but I’d like to learn small side hits and basic jumps.
My main concern is whether the Otto Plus is noticeably more demanding or tiring than the regular Otto. I want something I can push hard when I feel like it, without having to ride aggressively all day just to enjoy it.
For someone in my position, would you choose the regular Otto 161 or Otto Plus 161? Is the Plus worth it, or would the regular Otto be the better all-round choice?

Gear question Howl taped jacket - any reviews?

I’ve been wanting to cop the Howl Supply taped jacket for a while now, but haven’t really found any reviews. Currently trying to decide between the North Face ceptor and the 3L taped jacket.

Anyone have anything good or bad to say about Howls jackets? I know the mitts are chill.

general discussion Want to try snowboarding for the first time, not sure where to start.

Hey guys, 30M from a tropical country (Singapore) with no snow at all (just indoor carpet simulators)

I've wanted to try snowboarding for the longest time and not sure where to start. Mainly want to try this out on my own, solo stylez
I sorta have a plan to get some indoor lessons done and once I'm more comfortable, i plan to head to Japan (Naeba) to try snowboarding on actual snow.

As for the gear, I intend to use hired snowboards from Naeba rather than bringing my own due to how bulky it is and logistics might not be convenient to lug around when I'm in Japan. Rest of the gear I can probably get my own.

I would love to hear some stories on how you guys got started with snowboarding so I can have an idea on where to start.
