If you were to tell me a game that seemed like a neat little reversal of the classic "Slay the dragon, save the princess" would end up being a love story between two cosmic entities where I played as a really scary bird, exploring relationships, new perspectives, and how perceptions shape encounters- I'd probably look at you weird.
I remember vaguely hearing the name of this game a while back, and so when I got a proper console, I decided to give it a try. The art looked great, it seemed like a twist on a classic story, it was cheap, and the Princess was pretty.
The Narrator pretty obviously stood out as suspicious, and I was really confused on who the voice in my head was (it took me a while to figure out these guys- aside from the Narrator- were actually me), but I decided to enter the basement without a knife and save her.
The first surprise came when things reset after getting sloppily stabbed in the chest, with another voice showing up, the cabin changing, and the princess changing pretty drastically. And then the she started...devolving, for lack of a better word, and at this point the game really grabbed my focus with how unsettling this whole sequence was. The second surprise came when she was grabbed by a mass of hands, and then the real game began with me gathering perspectives for the Shifting Mound.
I love how different each version of the Princess is, and the different attitudes they have toward Quiet, the construct containing them, and the different ways you can approach them. The voices only added to this, the dynamics and arguments between each other, the Narrator, and the Princess' were super fun to watch. Even you Smitten and Broken, who I found a bit annoying. I started looking into the deeper meaning of things once I began to chase the Platinum trophy, and I found myself really appreciating what the game was trying to tell. Looking at the whole thing as a love story, and realizing that each Princess you interact with are different relationship dynamics really elevated the game for me. TSM's and TLQ's whole thing with the ideas of 'nothing' and 'ends and beginnings' are really interesting topics that I want to look deeper into.
My 3 favorite Princess' are probably: Princess and the Dragon, Specter, and Apotheosis. Witch and Thorn are really close though.
My favorites voices are: Hero, Paranoid (gotta love him in the Nightmare route), and Hunted. Honorable mention to Broken specifically when you unlock your potential against Apotheosis, was really proud of him for that.
I could make separate post into each of them, but this is already long enough. I'll forever be grateful I decided to buy this game. A unique experience, and one of a kind for me.

Put these together as a meme template. 2nd picture's art is by JustCherryQwQ on Youtube. I would have tried making a fully drawn version, but it would have taken a lot longer, and I probably wouldn't get around to finishing it. Let me know what you think.

Adversary and EotN are pretty much the same princess, so I treat them as one.
Also, honorable mentions - Razor for being the funniest one, Princess and Dragon for the most creative route and the Witch for >:3

If you could swap out The Hero for any other voice for a particular path, to hear their perspective from start to finish, who would you pick and for what Vessel? (or even a specific ending for a Vessel) it can be a route where the Voice already shows up (but you would have them from Chapter 1 instead of just Ch2 and/or Ch3)

It's hard to believe that Broken is the biggest stud of all the voices, but numbers don't lie.
No shade to Cheated, Contrarian, or Paranoid -- they each have a number of princesses who find them appealing, they just happen not to be anyone's first choice. Even Opportunist is a contender for certain princesses, leaving Cold as the only one who's truly undesirable.
Please let me know what you think in the comments!

Cus if it's not the first Princess, then when TLQ and unfinished Shifty are talking, at that moment they both know what'll happen next - TLQ loses his memory about everything and goes back to the start. And if he loses his memory, then he can't "make a promise" about what's he gonna bring next (if theoretically Shifty actually wanted smth specific). Cus he won't remember the promise when he wakes up on the path in the woods again
So Shifty saying that she cares about his gifts but has no preferences to burden TLQ with is basically her addressing the only one who actually remembers what happened before - the player
