Explorer 36 vs 40. First Rolex. Photos included.
Big career milestone. Buying first Rolex. Have two other watches both 40mm, but were gifts.
My wrist size is 6.5 inches
Unfortunately the AD only had the black/oyster explorer in 40mm, but got to try the two tone gold/silver explorer in 36mm for size comparison.
I personally liked the 40mm slightly more (maybe because I’m used to size), but on reading this sub overwhelming support is for 36mm. So wanted some advice here before buying. Will get black/oyster, so classic.
Question:
1) 40mm vs 36mm sizing?
2) Explorer vs Datejust vs Oyster Perpetual as first Rolex and something I can wear everyday for next 30 years as my daily? (I’m 35M, corporate, business casual, linens, and casual t/shirts+linen shorts in summer). I love the uniqueness of the Explorer, but feel it’s maybe too understated/plain?
