*mod note* Unwanted DMs after posting here? Message the mods and we will ban the users sending unwanted creepy/pervy messages.

What we ask you not to do is post screenshots with visible user names. Posting visible usernames might be understood as harassment and doxing and could get the entire subreddit taken down.

Message the mods using the message the mods button, not messaging individual mods, please!

Reddit, unfortunately, does not treat seriously the problems it has with the porn users and subreddits and allows them to mingle with SFW subreddits like ours because scrolling porn is extremely addictive. These users come here and think it's normal to act like that. All we can do is ban them and send a message that way.

That is also why we are so strict with rule 7 - we ban profiles with frequent activity in porn subreddits because we don't want the traffic from those subs. Many subreddits that have mainly women and femme userbases have similar problems, not just us.

To continue not receiving messages, you must block the user on your end. You may also put some guardrails on who can chat with you. More about that is in the WIKI page "Navigating this subreddit".

For more info on how to navigate this space and why we have these rules check out the FAQ and materials in the WIKI (found in the sidebar in the desktop version and in the menu under the name of the subreddit on mobile).

Here is a link to our suggestions on how to navigate this space. Some parts are under construction still. Most relevant is the section on DMs. We suggest checking out other pages of the WIKI with useful information as well :)

Stay safe!

Question for men /please respond from a SFW account without porn I have a question for men.

Why do you guys find it so attractive to have no hair on a woman's body? I'm not hating it accusing y'all of anything, I just want to know? I shaved my body recently, because the hair was getting annoying and it's like...i feel like a five year old. I'm disgusted with myself. Sometimes I get insecure about the amount of hair I usually have on my body, but I'm a lot more uncomfortable looking at myself when I don't have hair?? I would love to know what you guys find attractive about it? To make me feel better while my hair grows back 😭

(no, you MAY NOT see. Don't be creepy PLEASE)

Show & Tell 6 years and going strong!

Post image

I decided in the early COVID days that shaving was pointless. I was working from home as a single mother raising a kid trying to learn online and dating was the farthest from my mind. 6 years later, I enjoy the breeze in my leg hair, and unashamedly wear shots and whatever else and could care less if someone doesn’t approve. That’s their problem, not mine. I am liberated (48F) and will NEVER go back!

Side note: at my last Obgyn appt, I told my (male) dr I didn’t shave. His response was priceless ā€œit’s OK, neither did I!ā€

Vent Why do we inherently assume we need a man’s approval to be razor free?

I met a friend for coffee this morning and we started talking about all the things we stop caring about in our 40’s, and I mention that ā€œhell, I stopped shaving my pits because I don’t care anymore!ā€ And she retorts with ā€œyeah, as long as your husband doesn’t care, what does it matter?ā€ And I was immediately turned off. I politely explained that actually, he does care, but it’s not his decision. She just looked at me with dismay. I continued to explain that I think it’s gross that we’re expected to look like prepubescent girls without body hair. I could tell she was uncomfortable, so to save the conversation I felt the need to explain how much healthier my skin was because my eczema would get out of control when I shaved. And the tension was immediately diffused. I now had a reasonable argument in her eyes. But I really hate that I had to make that excuse.
And now, hours later, I’m still shaking my head that bright, smart, wonderful women seek male approval for decisions about their own bodies. I will not apologize for making my own choices when it comes to my own body. I don’t need a man’s approval for it to be ok! What is wrong with our society that even women think that men should approve of our bodily decisions!

Support My aunt on vacation decided it was her place to tell me I needed to shave.

I am a closeted trans man. I don’t shave not just because it feels more affirming but because overall it feels so much better. I went on vacation and was wearing shirts and my lovely aunt decided it was her place to comment on it. I’m sick of it. We need to normalize not shaving. Unless it is for sensory issues or medical issues I don’t think we should be shaving. I know it is all about choice but when people shave for ā€œcosmeticā€ reasons it turns it into this trend and now I’m shamed for not following it. Woman who have pcos/pros are shamed for their hairiness. I honestly don’t (sometimes) believe people when they say that do it for themselves. I know shaving is sometimes soothing or self care. I get that. But most of the time it’s to be part of the beauty standard which is in itself for men. I’m not trying to shame but I’ve been shamed so many times that it is frustrating that we can’t normalize it. I’m happy woman who do shave are saying ā€œit’s ok if you don’t shaveā€ but it’s kind of like seeing a buff influencer saying body positivity. You are happy they are doing but it just doesn’t set an example.

Sorry for the grammar

Advice How do I help my partner realize that they don’t need to shave?

(VERY BRIEF MENTION OF ED)
My (they/them) partner shaves because it helps them fit into feminine beauty standards and enforces their gender(they’re amab). I’ve personally come a long way from shaving my entire body to actually letting it grow, and honestly feel sick knowing that they’re going through the same thing when in reality body hair is feminine and beautiful. I just feel horrible because I know what it’s like to hate your body like that (they have an ED for the same reasons).

Does anyone know how to help them? I personally started deconstructing when I realized that the beauty standards were set by pedophiles, but I know that I can’t change someone’s beliefs like that. I’m so sorry I know this is kinda a vent, I don’t know how to help them or reconcile with the fact that someone so perfect would think that they have to change themselves like that in order to be loved.

Any advice on how to support them is appreciated!

Vent Why's always something I've to'd just because I'm a woman??

Yesterday, my little sister got gifts from their besties from her highschool (her highschool was my highschool)

Her besties' gifts was two QĆ© and makeup (I hate makeup) and she couldn't try the whatever's that eyelashes thing is because she's wearing fake eyelashes (I don't get what's the difference between having natural eyelashes and buying fake ones, like the fake nails, is better having the natural ones but whatever) so I offered to try it for her, my middle-older sister and my mother were present sitting in the couchs, my middle-older sister was sitting in the couch in front of me and my mother was sitting in the couch at my left.. anyway-after the little sister put that eyelashes thing on my eyelashes, the middle-older sister and my mother started saying that's unbelievable seeing me with makeup on, I know it was a light conversation until both of them said the word SHAVED, because they were going in a good way: "makeup like lipstick (and allat) dressed with dresses and heels, shaved..."

sHaVeD..ShAvEd..s-h-a-v-e-d...

SHAVED, the mention of that word RUINED MY MOOD!!!

I called them out and they said that they were "joking", knowing dang well that they shouldn't "joke" about that with ME

Because what's wrong with me not shaving? Does not shaving makes me less feminine?? Does not shaving makes me unhygienic?? Does not shaving makes me gross???

Absolutely not!! I can't handle seeing that they think that's imprescindible for me to shave just because I'm a young woman-I bet that if I were a young man they wouldn't even mention any of that, because literally my older brother and father are hairy as a big foot and nobody bat an eye 🫈

And it's funny actually that my older brother told me that he prefers women with no armpit hair while he've a whole forest in his armpits, either way, he doesn't want a girlfriend sooo

Vent WHY is ALWAYS the same lame "It's unhygienic!" excuse??? UGH-IT'S NOT EVEN AN EXCUSE!!!

Days ago, I had a heated argument with my little sister (not so little, she's from 2009 and I'm from 2007) and my other middle-older sister (we are 4 sisters so she's not the oldest sister at all) said to the little sister something about her body, I agreed with the middle-older sister about what she said regarding the little sister's body because it was obvious apart of relatable and we have been telling the little sister about it but the little sister don't listen...welp..out of a sudden the little sister bought up-FOR NO REASON AT ALL-my natural body!

Saying that "is worse having hair than what she has", it pissed me off and I said that's natural for women to have body hair as well and she said that's not and it's "unhygienic" and "gross"!!

I obviously denied her comments with an angry tone because that's not true and I can't believe she's brainwashed by the society patriarchy's washing machine (and probably induced misogyny because she said that men can have hair and be hairy because they're MEN) given the fact that we've been raised with the same circumstances

I somehow expected her to have such disgusting thoughts about this type of subject and pretty sure she doesn't even ask herself: "but if a man can go out being hairy and nobody bat an eye...why everyone bat an eye when a woman go out like that?"

Because I know that question would DEFINITELY change her mindset!

The middle-older sister pissed me off too because she then looked at me and said (after the little sister's tantrum) that's "not difficult to SHAVE" and I looked at her like- are you FR?!

I am a Spaniard woman that covers herself with modest clothes even in summer, so there was no reason to use how comfortable and proud I feel about my natural body for my little sister to use it against me out of the blue

Plus my boyfriend doesn't care nor mind and he supports me as well ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹

Vent Do NOT shave!

I was bored and manic and in the shower... and I shaved.

Like a seal. I regret it so much.

It's day 3 now of growing it all back. I am SO itchy. I have so many ingrown hairs and itchy red bumps. Like... why.

It is NOT worth it for the few hours of smooth time.
I hate being prickly. And to think, I was so carefree just a few days ago.

Beat the insecurity of being hairy in conservative USA!

Post image

Legs and pits out for entirety of a trip to Texas, in big crowds too! A couple guys were pointing it out and it’s the first time anyone has done that. I’m from a hippy area but am currently visiting a city where women typically have done hair and makeup and sexy clothes so it’s been making me feel insecure. Iā€˜ve wished I could wear pants even though it’s too hot, since the feeling of being ā€œperceivedā€ felt intense at moments. But I didn’t cover up!

I hear the ā€œyou shouldn’t careā€œ dismissiveness of insecurity online a lot, so I thought it important to share that I still get that feeling 6 months in. And the first couple outings were really hard. My first beach day I actually panicked and felt the need to wear a towel around my waist. That’s normal, considering all the pressure we grew up with! But Iā€˜m definitely getting over it with time :)

From the first time I started to grow body hair, my mother made me shave it off. Not unlike nearly everyone else on this sub, I was raised to see body hair on women as disgusting and disturbing. It took me nearly 3 years of unlearning and reprogramming to realize and accept that body hair is natural, beautiful, and nothing to be ashamed of.

I was sorting out clothes on my floor today when I realized it’s been nearly 3 months since I’ve shaved my legs, and not once have I let anyone make me feel bad about it. It may be small for others, but it’s a huge step for me :)

The only reason why I’d shave is for a man (or cheesecake)

So I haven’t shaved in a long time.

My mom broke my streak by bribing me with cheesecake lol. It worked of course.

But honestly I’m in the modern dating scene and men don’t gaf and I don’t make a big deal out of it either. If they ask I say ā€œidgafā€ and ā€œI’m not a little girl.ā€ Maybe I pick decent men but no one cares that much.

This is all I wanna say

Question Feeling disheartened, what am I doing wrong?

I stopped shaving my armpits about 2 months ago, and everywhere else about 6 weeks ago. I have very thick dark hair, especially in my armpits. About a week or so ago, I started feeling irritated under both arms: itchy, very aware of my sweat (despite wearing antiperspirant as normal) and it's been really bugging me. Today I hit a wall - I felt so overstimulated by it and finally caved. As I write this, I shaved them about 30 minutes ago. Almost instantly, the irritating feeling stopped, so I'm pretty convinced it wasn't just in my head.

The annoying thing is that I don't WANT to shave, I really want to be a loud and proud "here's my hair!" type person. I'm now wondering if I've been doing something wrong in my routine because I'm surprised to have found the feeling of having hair there so frustrating. Given the volume of hair, I was making sure to shampoo it when washing, ensuring it was fully dry after etc etc. I didn't have this when I was first growing it out so I guess I could trim it, but that almost seems like more effort than just going over the whole area with a razor.

I've always been sceptical about the "I have to shave for sensory reasons" argument, because it seems very convenient to me that everyone seemingly has discomfort in all the exact places it's socially "unacceptable" for women to be hairy. But dammit, this was just too intense for me and I'm so upset about it!

Has anyone else struggled with this at all? Is there anything I can do to make the feeling more bearable going forward? I've not had any issues with physical discomfort elsewhere on my body, and I'm trying to not feel disheartened about having given in to the shave. I don't want to be tied into hair removal forever just to feel comfortable!

How to get rid of sweat?

So I genuinely WANT to have armpit hair, I find it so pretty and it would be so freeing to just not think about shaving since my armpits are the only area of my body that I shave, but my sensory issues are a problem. It's not about the hair, it's about sweating. I know armpit hair doesn't increase the amount of sweating but I think it's about the sweat lingering longer in my armpits? Idk, but I have tried soo many times to let my armpit hair grow, and every time I end up shaving because I can't stand my clothes getting sweaty. I use antiperspirant but maybe it's not strong enough? Does anyone have any tips?

Vent "She didn't take care of herself"

Earlier at work I was working with a coworker from a different section who I had never met. He seemed nice enough and was telling a story about how last week a citizen got violent with him. Rather than talking about the content of her character, he just kept bringing up her armpit hair.

Now I rarely shave my armpit hair or pubes, and when I do I use a trimmer. I havent shaved my legs in probably 2 yesrs now, and before that I rarely shaved those either.

In the story he told he said she had armpit hair and when she lifted her arms it looked like she had "tarantulas under there". The car chuckled a bit and they moved on (2 of these are "liberal" women, but i think they did it awkwardly). Then later on he brought it up again and said she didnt take care of herself. I kept quiet because I didnt want to start shit because we are working together due to an emergency situation, but it seriously pissed me off.

I wanted to ask him if he shaves under his armpits, and if he doesnt how is that not equally gross? The sad thing is he has a young daughter. I live in Florida and wear tanks often and no man has EVER commented on my armpit hair, only my mom and dad and they mostly did because of societal standards and not their own views

Thanks for listening to my rant 😭

Vent Pits out for the first time didn’t go well :/

I’m really sad to be writing this because I don’t want others opinions affect me. This was the first time I went out with my armpit hair showing, I was wearing a halter neck so they were fully out. I was at my first solo concert and I thought the crowd going to this artist would be more progressive but I guess not.

Anyways some guys were sitting behind me and they kept talking about it. I really don’t want to care about a mans opinion but it really just made me so sad that the world is still like this.

EDIT: CREEPY MEN DO NOT MESSAGE ME, YOU WILL BE BLOCKED

Confidence for the newbie

Hello, I am trying so hard to stay confident with my body and my natural hair. For about 3 months I didn't shave, and my life was just so much easier. However coworkers and acquaintances once they found out just made me so self conscious, but either outright gagging when they talked about me or just making rude comments on how "wow now you're fat and hairy" which was UNCALLED for knowing that im struggling with weight. But I stopped shabing for health reasons, I have HS and now that I shaved my underarms are suffering and I have so many bumps. Plus I am on a blood thinner so all of my cuts/Knicks bleed like crazy.

Truly I should just ignore them, but I am such a self conscious people pleaser. Anyone have any advice?

JOY Unshaved legs in public and trying on a cute dress

Found this really cute dress in a shop and tried it on, walked around the shop to show my friends and the shop keeper (it’s a small business type shop so she was assisting with showing me clothes) with my legs fully on display! i’ve always worn longer skirts that go halfway down my calves and this was my first time wearing a skirt that goes to my knees in public. yes it was only for about 10 minutes, but it made me feel very confident! and customers walked by etc and i didn’t feel ashamed or like i needed to hide my hair. I think small exposures are still worth celebrating because they are stepping stones to building confidence.

(second pic is the dress i actually ended up buying just as i want to show it off, i think it suited me more than the green one)

Discussion just some thoughts/questions i’ve been wanting to share in here for a while

i’m 23 and i am very comfortable with my body hair at this point. i first stopped shaving my armpits when i was around 17. then roughly 4 years ago i stopped shaving my bush and also began to let my leg hair grow. i let it all grow fully wild and i absolutely love it.
i often wear skirts that reveal my very hairy legs and i don’t feel overtly phased when i see people staring. the past two summers aswel, ive swam and walked around at beaches and public swimming pools with my bush visibly peeking out. this past summer was the first summer where i didn’t tamper at all with my ā€˜bikini line’ and so my inner thighs were also fully exposed. this felt like a pretty big personal move for me and it resulted in me feeling more empowered than i did before.
it does really help that my close friends, whom i met in college, all let their body hair grow aswel. that obviously makes it feel even more organic and empowering. the four us went on a trip to brussels this past summer and we admired all the women that looked around our age who were also sitting and walking around with their hairy legs and pits on display. depending on my general mood and mentality, of course there are still days where i feel a tinge of uncertainty or insecurity…. for example, if im having one of those days where i just don’t want to be perceived, i will likely consciously decide to wear trousers. but when im feeling really calm and centred, and the weather is warm, it’s the opposite.

i consider my own body hair and women’s body hair in general to be very attractive. it makes me feel sexy. i honestly don’t think i could be very sexually attracted to a woman if she was hairless all over and routinely shaved/waxed herself……. same applies to men. there is absolutely no way i could be sexually attracted to a man that removes any of his body hair. nothing more unappealing than a bald penis.
so…. this is making me wonder if i have a body hair fetish and perhaps i am literally fetishising myself at the same time.

i repeatedly fantasize about meeting a man that not only adores my hairy body, but wants to ravage me because of it. the idea of it turning him on so much that he just cannot contain himself and wants to honour and kiss me all over.
i’m single and have been for a little over a year now and since the start of this year i’ve hooked up with a few men. none of them made a single remark about my body hair, nor acted in any sort of particular way.
of course, if a man were to say anything even remotely futile or negative, he’d be thrown out the door immediately. but i guess in a way i’ve been kind of expectant of atleast some sort of little thing to be said about it. but nope. nothing. this in itself is not at all a bad thing…. you know, like they’re not even batting an eye or furrowing a brow.

i don’t know.
what i do know is that i don’t remove my body hair for anyone or anything other than myself. i let it all grow because thats what feels right. women have hair and it is not meant to be removed. it’s as simple as that. the whole purpose of the shaving/waxing industry has been and will always be a money-racketing incentive purely rooted in making women feel insecure and undesirable in their natural state… very same as the beauty industry as a whole. it’s just not something i’m ever buying into again for as long as i’m alive. i wouldn’t have even began to shave in the first place if it wasn’t for my mother, a victim of internalized misogyny, telling me that i essentially had no choice once i hit puberty. that wa only in relation to my legs and and armpits though. i didn’t consider even laying a finger upon my pubes until i was groped/groomed by a guy a few years older than me as a 14ish year old girl- he shoved his hand down my trousers without any sort of prior communication/consent, and then exclaimed out loud that i was hairy. of course, i internalized that into shame.
and of course that’s another huge element. misogyny. it is heavily intwined with infantilization and western society’s obsession with youthfulness. men expecting and wanting women to have hairless bodies could be and is a whole seperate, massive discussion.

so it’s not that im expecting a reaction out of a potential male partner, it’s just that i have an unshakeable desire for him to have a deep adoration for it. him being unphased is just not enough. does anyone else feel this way?

Vent I miss my pit hair

So I'm 17 and just started being razor free (like six months ago), and well I like all the hair in my body, but mostly the armpits. I just don't know but whenever I looked at it I just felt so powerful and confident, even if I struggled slightly when I went out with friends sleveless stuff but tried my best not to care.

But there's just one person i'm terrified of seeing my hair, my dad. He's very conservative and stuff, and I just know if he'd see it, it would be bad. I've always been kinda scared of speaking my mind because I've seen how he is with my mom and sister. He has threatened to throw my sister out of the house several times (and she's 14)

The other day I heard him complain because my mom hadn't shaved down there, calling it a jungle. And honestly I just felt so disgusted by him. He is coming to stay for a month with us, so I thought it wouldn't be worth it to let him see my pit hair. I have a hard time setting boundaries and I literally can't get angry without crying.

I'm honestly just waiting to move out, I want to live as hairy as I want and not care what he says.
