GOAT recognises GOAT

I think it could have something to do with the sets, lighting, filters. Take the apartment Peter lives in for example. Or Ben and Mays house before he moved out. Or Norman's mansion. Or the sun tinted buildings during the daytime swinging scenes.

They kinda have this vibe like they could have come out of a 50s-60s film. Think Rear Window. These movies kinda feel anachronistic for the 2000s. Compare this to say something like The New Animated Series(which is kinda supposed to be a spinoff) which feels more 2000s with the electronic music, outfits, settings.

Why?

End of Spider-Man (2002)

Peter:

- He confesses his secret to MJ and they begin dating at the end of the first movie.

- Remains flatmates with Harry while helping May with money, and gets a research lead job at Oscorp from a grateful Norman.

- Norman becomes protective of Peter and designs gadgets for him

MJ:

- Knows Peter's secret and wanted to date him before knowing anyways

- finally had a stable relationship with someone who cares for her

- becomes successful in her plays but does not date any famous astronauts

Harry:

- doesn't feel jealous of his dad being fond of Peter after he finds out Peter is Spider-Man and saved his father's life

- always covers for Peter's secret identity alongside MJ to Aunt May and Jameson whenever needed

- a less stressed and grateful Harry begins plotting ways to discredit the Bugle for its libel against Spider-Man

Norman:

- Rebuilds the company, while also designing gadgets for Spider-Man

- Green Goblin identity is not revealed and it is assumed the villain fled town..after they find his suit destroyed at a warehouse.

Aunt May:

- Is thrilled Peter is getting a good job and finally dating MJ

- doesn't have to give away her stuff in order to pay rent as Norman offers to help her

This is probably the comfiest Raimi suit I have... Hopefully one day I'll be able to own an intact 2002 suit.

In the comics,Jean’s first kiss isn’t cyclops or wolverine,her first kiss is actually Spider-man,so if Fox and Sony had merged would it have been adapted.

Last one for this particular sequence, it's more or less complete as far as the big beats. Again, the CG on Spidey himself holds up a lot better than the one on the Goblin.

Fewer shots per gif this time, to get more of that A-B repeat action. I like seeing these sequences like this. Helps you appreciate all the atomized elements that make up a shot. Really like the smoke colliding with the trolley (cart?) on the last slide. It's rudimentary by today's standards but still cool to see it so naked, with the lighting bumped up.

Also if you were wondering where all those people throwing things at Norman came from, his explosion caused a pile up on the bridge, probably were all the people got the tire irons from.

Using darkness to mask shoddy effects is still common practice in movies and TV. But me, I can embrace the artifice, I'd rather be able to see the shoddy effects. I think it's cool to be able to take in how colorful and detailed those sets and matte paintings are. I'm pretty sure the bridge with the yellow bricks was a miniature, sure reads like one, and that's fine, I like it!

And for some reason Spidey's CG double aged a hell of a lot better than Gobbie's. Could be due to the animation, swinging probably has more easy to replicate physics than gliding around in a small jet propelled contraption.
