Starting playing again after years of not touching the game.
So I started off with just a min sec wing, set up a detached visitation building with adjoining visitor reception, works fine.
Made a medium security wing to the south, same thing, visitation building with an adjoining visitor reception, but no visitors show up, no prisoners go to it.
I double checked to make sure everything is marked properly. Can you not make multiple visitations without bugging the game out?
And yes, medium sec has access to visitation in the policy page.

Have you tried Undead DLC? Well its my first and my question is when will they come?
Will they appear suddenly? or what?
I saw on yt that you need to build graveyard first. I don't want to try since I already built a lot of things AND im not ready for them

I’m building my first ever prison after completing the campaign, and I’ve run into the issue where it says my cells don’t have access to a canteen, when in the screenshot they clearly do.

Like the title says, when I play non sandbox mode, I always have a dirty half-*ssed prison, because I don’t have the stuff needed to clean it or build the right stuff or the time to build the right stuff.
How do I fix this?

Im going to build a russian supermax prison on the snowbound plot, its going to be as depressing as possible, ran on suppression with heavy lockdown periods. Finally getting my revenge on the ai in this game. I want some inspiration on the way it should look and be ran, has anyone built any impressive looking prisons with this style, or anyone who has made super effective suppression based prisons?

Basically, I was wondering why it seems like the jobs shown here aren't being taken despite having enough prisoners to fill some of them at least. I understand it says not all of them are qualified so I wouldn't expect them all to fill up but I'd expect a couple positions filled at least. as you can see I do have fog of war on but I put the cameras there specifically so I could track if thier actually working or not and so far no prisoners have been as far as I understand. my best guess is that for the kitchen it's partly the door being annoying but with the restaurant/workshop I've got nothing

so recentely an idea came to my mind. what if we got to choose type of the prison when creating? county jail would hold prisoners that’s not convicted and would be characteristic for quick rotation of prisoners. state prisons would probably be mostly what we have now. federal prisons would hold the most dangerous prisoners convicted for federal charges.
every prison would have different standards and conditions.
lmk what u think!

Hey all,
Does anyone know how I get a cell up to 15? I can only get to 10 and it's only showing me options to get to 10, but the prisoners are entitled to 15.
I can't post a screenshot as my laptop is so old it won't connect to WiFi and will turn off without the charger so it's more effort than it's worth to take it to a place with an ethernet 😭
Options it's showing me that I have fulfilled are;
Room size at least 6, 9 & 16 squares
Outdoor window
Office desk
Shower head
TV
Radio
Bookshelf
Chair
I have also added a bird cage, punching bag and sink&mirror.
Thank you guys!

I always prefer to set up my prisons with lots of small buildings, rather than 1 huge block. I like the idea of giving prisoners some more fresh air whilst they move around, and it gives them a little Freedom boost. But every single multi-block prison I make has the same problem: it never makes any money. I am always running on a deficit, going into the -$millions.
For my current save, I decided to try a one-block prison, for something different. And lo and behold, I'm raking in money left, right, and centre! $50k a day or more! The only difference is the set up. I've still got mainly Minimum Sec prisoners, I've got the same amount of prisoners, the same number of guards, the same labour rooms...
Has anyone else found this? And why does the game 'break' if you build separate buildings?

This probably isn't the usual kind of post here, but I love Prison Architect, and I've been thinking about getting into game development and potentially making my own prison management game.
I'm still in the early stages and honestly not sure if it's the best idea, but I'd like to explore my own take on the genre rather than just make a straight-up clone.
I figured this would be a good place to ask people who actually play the game!
It'd be awesome to hear your thoughts on a few things:
I'm also interested in hearing what you think is missing from the game, whether that's building mechanics, prisoner behavior, management systems, or anything else.

Hey guys I’m a new PC player to this game, and I have heard that mods are essential to adding content and fixing current game bugs. What are some good, fun mods I can install that can enhance my gameplay experience?

He has been due release for a while and just pulls a guard that has a job to put tracker belt on him and the guard just gets stuck on top of the toilet there. I did tunnel search countless times and nothing comes up and if I remember correctly I did close a hole near this area. regardless. How do I fix this?

These ugly deployment zones keep being created and I don't want them. Does anybody know how to prevent and/or fix them?
r/prisonarchitect • u/Luna2268 • 5d ago

to explain more clearly, I was wondering why the bunk beds seemingly aren't being counted for how many prisoners I can actually house properly? I'm not entirely sure why and when I had two of these cells use bunk beds exclusively the game actually didn't recognise them as requirements for the cell itself, it's not the end of the world obviously because I could always just eat the reduced capacity given I could use regular beds but I would like to be able to house more in a smaller space if I can
(also forgive me if this setup looks trash from an optimisation standpoint or something, this is my first real prison and I bought the game like yesterday so very much still getting used to things)
