I built Paperwing – 53 free PDF tools that run entirely in your browser (no uploads, works offline, 12 languages)
Hi everyone,
Most free PDF sites make you upload your files to their servers. That always bothered me, especially for contracts, IDs and medical documents. So I built Paperwing, where everything happens inside your browser tab and your files never leave your device.
What it does:
- 53 tools: merge, split, compress, convert (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG), sign, edit, OCR, redact, protect/unlock, compare and more
- No sign-up, no watermarks, no daily limits
- Works offline once a tool has been opened, and can be installed as an app
- 12 languages, including Arabic, Urdu and Hindi
- Translate PDFs into 40+ languages without uploading them (Chrome & Edge on desktop)
- Workflows: chain tools like Merge → Compress → Page numbers and reuse them with one click
It's free and self-funded. Because your own device does the work, there are no servers processing files, so it costs very little to run.

Proofline: check public-web photo sources with a free preview and one-time credits
Disclosure: I run Proofline.
If you occasionally want to check where a photo of yourself may appear online, Proofline offers a preview of possible public-web matches, with source links unlocked using credits. It uses the FaceCheck API; it is an independent service, not the official FaceCheck website or a separate search index.
The difference is the purchase model: one search credit starts at $2 USD, there is no subscription or monthly payment, and purchased credits never expire. It is meant for occasional use; a low starting price does not mean the lowest price per search.
A few details to know before trying it:
- Guests and accounts with no credits get one free search per IP address each day, resetting at 00:00 Beijing time (UTC+8). People sharing a connection may share that allowance.
- If you already have credits, a new search uses 1 credit and includes the full result. No matches still uses a credit; reopening a saved report is free.
- Matches are leads to review, not proof of identity. It does not search private accounts or hidden posts. Use your own photos or photos you have permission to search.
Website and pricing: https://tryproofline.com/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=organic_social&utm_campaign=proofline_social_202610&utm_content=rd_20261021_prettyuseful_01
Happy to answer questions about what the preview includes and when credits are used.

A Opensource research tool with a proper MCP server, NotebookLM alternative
Hey guys, a couple of days back I mentioned launching a more focused OSS alternative to notebookLM, https://notestack.ai
It has plenty of features that are improved/enhanced over notebookLM. Like better audio, more video editing options and chat grounded in your source materials.
Now I have added an MCP server as well so you can attach it to Claude, make reports/audio overviews, slide decks right into that chat interface.
It can generate:
- Mind constellations/mind map
- Audio Overview/Podcast
- Slide Decks
- Research Reports
- Quizes and much more
Do check it out at notestack.ai

I’ve built a website called Seekly — a faster way to find genuinely useful websites and hidden online tools
I’m building Seekly, a discovery platform for useful websites, online tools, and resources that are easy to miss through a normal search.
Traditional search is great when you know exactly what you’re looking for. But when you’re trying to discover a useful free tool, compare options, or find a lesser-known website for a particular task, results can be repetitive, ad-heavy, or dominated by the biggest brands.
Seekly is designed to make that process simpler:
Browse curated websites by category, from productivity and AI to design, learning, privacy, finance, and more
See a visual preview of each website before opening it
Read a clear overview of what it does, who it is useful for, key features, limitations, and pricing where available
Save useful links and compare tools side-by-side
Use AI-assisted search to describe what you need in plain language and get relevant website suggestions faster
Discover hidden gems, not just the same well-known tools that appear everywhere else
The aim is not to replace search engines—it’s to make website discovery more useful when you don’t yet know the name of the tool you need.
We also want the community to help shape it. If you know a website that has genuinely helped you, saved you time, or deserves more attention, you can submit it to Seekly. Our team reviews submissions before adding them, so the directory stays useful and avoids low-quality or inappropriate links.
I’d genuinely love to hear: what is one underrated website you think more people should know about?
Here is the link to Seekly - https://seekly-signal-finder

Pretty useful? That’s questionable
So I have another site. It’s for entertainment mostly. It’s a Military Slang Translation site. Give it a shot if your are curious about the jibberish your military friends or family speak.

I built a stock market for YouTubers

YouTube is a multi-billion dollar economy, and creators are running real businesses. Being a finance and YouTube nerd, I've always wanted to invest in channels like stocks.
So, I just built TubeStock. (in comments)
Every channel has a price based on its real subs and monthly views, updated every 5 minutes. You start with $10K. Buy creators you think will pop, short the ones falling off, or call over/under on how many views their next video gets in its first hour.
Free, no signup, no real money.
Would love to know if it’s fun for more people than just me.

jack-o.io turns the old phone in your junk drawer into a talking jack-o'-lantern
had an old phone sitting in a drawer doing nothing, so i made a site that turns it into a talking jack-o'-lantern. you set the phone in a pumpkin facing out, plug it in, and it talks to trick-or-treaters at the door. no app to install, just open the site on the old phone.
free to try: https://jack-o.io/114

FileSnatch: see every file on a page in a side panel and download them all at once
I made FileSnatch, a side-panel extension for grabbing files from websites as you browse.
Open the panel and everything on the page is already there as thumbnails: videos (including HLS streams), images, audio and documents. Preview, search and sort, then download one, a selection, or all of them, as separate files, or a ZIP (BULK download supported).
Other features:
- Look inside: collects files from every page a list links to
- Grab files from every opened tab at once, grouped by tab
- Telegram channels and WhatsApp Web media download
- Trim, convert and compress locally
- Screenshots: visible area, a selection, or the whole page
No account, no tracking.
Doesn't work on YouTube (store policy) or DRM sites.
Feedback very welcome. Thanks!

I built NetArmature — a web toolkit behind Family Radar, an anti-scam safety app
I’m building NetArmature, a free website designed to make online safety easier and more approachable.
It brings several tools together in one place:
- A website and scam checker for suspicious links
- Job scam and rental scam guidance
- Chrome and Firefox extensions
- A mobile app Family Radar
- A free Security Toolkit
- Free interactive games that teach scam awareness
The goal is simple: help families pause, check, and make safer decisions before sharing information, sending money, or trusting an unfamiliar website.
I’m sharing the project because I’d love honest feedback from people who build and use websites:
- Which feature would be most useful to you?
- Is the website easy to understand at first glance?
- What would you improve?
- What other safety tool would you like to see?
The tools on the website are free, and the project is still evolving. Family Radar is a safety app with free tools and optional premium features.

Sharpt and Shutter are live on the Chrome Web Store 🎉
I'm a product designer, and I built two small Chrome tools for my own daily work. This week both went live, and they're free for everyone.

✍️ Sharpt: rough draft in, sharp words out. Paste, type or speak your message (even in Tanglish or Hinglish), pick a tone, and get a clear version back in Chrome's side panel.
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/lkfiloeeindddeaifacklmlnhghjkmba
📸 Sharpt Shutter: capture a region, a full scrolling page or any app window, mark it up, blur private details and share.
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/sharpt-shutter/hfkabojjbdhdfgojcklmbjjhopcdiaio
No ads, no tracking, no accounts.
How you can help:
- Try them and tell me what to improve
- Leave an honest review on the store, which really helps a new tool get found
- If they save you time, a coffee keeps me building
Thank you for being here at the very start. ☕

FetchMark - Bookmark manager for life after Pocket and Omnivore
What it does: FetchMark automatically fetches, tags and makes your saved links searchable. Built as a lightweight replacement after Pocket and Omnivore shut down.
Why it's useful: No more messy bookmarks - it turns links into actionable notes you can search and draft from.
I built it myself - currently in beta and free to try. Would love feedback from fellow bookmark hoarders.

I built JasenBase.com: entity graph built from hundreds of public sources.
JasenBase.com: website to display a large entity graph built from hundreds of public sources, including Wikipedia/Wikidata, sports leagues, parliaments, central banks and news feeds. All image generation and data processing runs on a self-hosted fleet of small machines in my basement, using Chinese and open-source models instead of paid APIs.

[Developer] I made Flippique, a desktop app that turns a PDF into a flipbook you keep as one HTML file
Disclosure: I'm the developer. I'm Jeremy, and I run a small web studio in Malta.
Flippique turns a PDF or a folder of images into a page-turning flipbook. Drop the PDF in and every page becomes a page of the book, in order. You save the result as a single HTML file, and anyone can open it in a modern browser, even offline. No account for readers, no ads, nothing to host unless you want it on your website.
It runs on Windows, and there's a Mac version too (macOS 11+) if you switch between the two.
It needs internet once to register the licence key, then works offline. Your pages are never uploaded anywhere.
Free plan: 3 books a month, up to 24 pages each, with the Flippique mark. Paid plans are Solo €49/yr, Pro €99/yr (unlimited books and pages plus your own logo) or Lifetime €199, all plus VAT. Books keep working if you cancel.
Limits, so nobody wastes their time: pages become images, so text isn't searchable and PDF links don't carry over. There are no reader analytics.
Official download: https://flippique.com/#download
Feedback is very welcome, especially on the Windows side.

Business Simulation
If you’ve ever wanted to start a business but you’ve been too worried, my website allows you to try out your idea against current market data, with different difficulties, and see how you do. Adjust the location, the budget and any business type, and see how you might do.
