Computer Hardware Advice I've Found Flow State

Just convinced work to buy me a M5 Max Mac Studio and idk how I was even editing before. Everything just works so flawlessly now, no dropped frames, 4k footage, perfect AE dynamic links, smooth drag and drop on the timeline. I'm flabbergasted, coming from an old i9 iMac means this was a huge step up.

I'm sure this is nothing new to most but I gotta say I love this program and suite all over again.

Any tips for my new mac setup? Still getting used to all the horsepower.

How do I do this? / Workflow Advice / Looking for plugin Mask Feathering Problem at Edge of Frame in Premiere 2026

I'm having an issue with opacity mask feathering in Premiere Pro 2026 and wondering if anyone knows a fix that doesn't involve nesting or scaling up the footage. Masking worked completely fine before the 2026 update and this is now happening for no apparent reason. The first photo is with feathering, the second without.

I'm using a custom multi-point mask on a clip's opacity effect to show part of a clip that is overtop the building layer in the screenshots. Part of the mask extends beyond the edge of the video frame so I do not understand why there is feathering on the edge of the frame.

The problem is that when I increase the mask feather, Premiere seems to feather the edge of the video frame itself rather than feathering from the actual mask boundary. This causes an unwanted feathered transition along the edge of the frame, even though the mask boundary is outside the visible image and should have no effect there.

I want the feather to be calculated relative to the actual mask shape, including the part that extends outside the frame, with only the relevant portion of the result visible inside the frame.

Things I've tried or considered:

  • Disabling Composite in Linear Color in Sequence Settings (made no difference).
  • I know nesting and enlarging the nested sequence may be a workaround, but I want to keep the footage at its original scale and avoid having to restructure my timeline.

Is there a setting or another way to make Premiere calculate the mask feather correctly when the mask extends beyond the frame? Has anyone found a fix for this in Premiere Pro 2026?

Computer Hardware Advice 5080 vs 4090 with QuickSync?

Current RTX 4080 owner here. I've been eying the 5080 since release, and this may be the time to buy If I am ever going to do it.

I see this asked a lot, but I never see a lot of answers: Is there a big benefit to having the 5080 for editing and exporting vs my current 4080+QuickSync?

I mainly shoot and edit Canon H265 long-GOP 10-bit 422 (2K, 4K, 60p, 120p, etc). And also DJI 265 422 10-bit. Occasional Sony cameras too.

NOTE: Sorry, typo in the title. I have 4080, NOT a 4090 durp.

Premiere Pro Tech Support Premiere pro exporting error

So, my render stops at 99%, but when I check my exported video, it plays until the end. However, it creates two separate files: one for audio (.aac) and another for video (.m4v).

important information: the estimated render file size is 150 GB, and the disk I’m exporting to has 310 GB of free space (A drive). The actual Premiere Pro software is installed on my C: drive, which has 55 GB of free space, also one more thing, after the progress hits 99 it stops using my gpu and cpu,and only uses the memory and storage to create this temporary file and it progressively keeps taking up space on my A drive (where I am exporting the video).

Premiere Pro Tech Support What's going on with these waveforms?

Hi all - I'm editing a simple 2-person podcast, cutting episodes from multicam sequences, and every single time I run into this annoying bug (at least I think it's a bug) with the waveforms in the main sequence.

I'll get the host's and guest's audio levels matched in the multicam so they're both peaking generally between -12 and -6 db, and the waveforms in their respective tracks reflect that, e.g. below:

When I bring the multicam into my main sequence, it collapses those two tracks into a single mix - idk why, sure it's something to do with my initial settings when creating the multicam. But whatever, it doesn't bother me.

Or rather it wouldn't, if it weren't for the fact that the waveform of that new mix track invariably looks like this:

Both host and guest are still at about the same loudness level, both on the meters and in my ears. But on the waveform, as you can see, the guest basically looks like noise. Again, whatever, except now I won't see hotspots in the guest's audio unless she's literally yelling into the mic - and even then, it just registers as a lil bump that doesn't reach the normal peaks of the host just talking.

Any ideas what's going on here? SM7-B's for both host and guest, both going into a Zoom F3. These are my usual settings when creating the multicam:

Sorry I don't have more useful info up front, I'm not an audio guy. But happy to share whatever other specs might be helpful!

Is there any any way to do this in big batches? (Maybe a plugin)? Something like the image. I always do this manually, but maybe there is a faster way

Premiere Pro Tech Support Clip moves to a different position when played

Hi there

i have a weird problem with one of my clips.

I want to put together two clips to have some sort of split screen. i placed the clip on the timeline, dragged it to the left on the screen and put a square opacity mask on it. on the right side i placed the other clip and while being paused it looked exactly how i wanted it to look.

then i started to play the timeline to see if the timing between both clips is correct and suddenly the clip with the mask jumped to a totally different place on the screen (timeline still okey, really just placement on the programm monitor).

i paused and everything went back to normal. i pressed play again and it was again messed up.

i have no idea what happened or why this is happening, i have no keyframes whatsoever.

Does anyone have an idea what is happening and how i can fix this?

Premiere Pro Tech Support MP4 works in Premiere Pro but shows missing-footage colour bars in After Effects 2026

When I select a clip in Premiere Pro and use “Replace with After Effects Composition,” the footage shows colour bars in AE, even though it plays correctly in Premiere.

I’m on Windows using After Effects 2026. The source is an MP4. In AE’s Project panel, it shows:

  • Type: ImporterXDCAMEX
  • Frame rate: 23.073 fps
  • The file path and size are listed.

I tried relinking the original MP4 through Replace Footage → File, but the colour bars stayed. I also tried a new project and got the same issue.

I’ve also received a “Conflicting color management” warning saying AE’s Working Color Space is None and should be Rec.709 Gamma 2.4 to match Premiere. I’m unsure whether that’s related.

Has anyone experienced this? How can I tell whether it’s a decoding issue, a Dynamic Link problem, or something else? What should I check next?

Screenshots attached. Thanks!

Premiere Pro Tech Support Premiere audio decode issue causing audio distortions

Post image
1 Upvotes

Before you read, listen to these audio samples first:
Premiere decode (listen to the word "bingo" specifically "go", the noise happens there. )
Clean audio for comparison: Uncompressed Raw Audio (PCM_s16le)

I have been dealing with this issue for 4+ years. Seemingly fine audio goes in Premiere and starts having random audio distortions, it's just a weird noise every several seconds to minutes. The original source sounds completely fine in media players outside Premiere, sounds fine in Davinci too, but inside Premiere it does not, and once it's re-encoded by Premiere it permanently ruins the audio and now you hear that in all the media players, youtube etc.
After tinkering with it for hours I have finally found that it's a bad decoding of left and right channels inside Premiere, making the track dual mono removes that noise. I confirmed it's happening inside Premiere only after importing the source in Davinci and exporting it and it had no such error. I then converted the original untouched AAC source to PCM_s16le (uncompressed raw audio) and imported that into Premiere and that audio did not have that noise, both left and right channels looked normal. I then cut out a 2s long segment using stream copy with ffmpeg from the original source, imported that into Premiere and surprisingly it did not have that extreme mismatch between left and right channels and had no noise.

If anyone has ever had this issue before, what can I do to fix this besides using mono, which is not feasible because I need Stereo for many reasons, this isn't just a mic track.
One thing I have noticed is that this happens very frequently when I work with Twitch Vods, not sure if that helps. The audio I have worked with is always AAC that does this and Premiere version does not matter, I have had this happen across every version I have used from 2022 to 2026, this is 26.0.2.

Premiere Pro Tech Support (Solved!) Why is this exporting so huge?

I'm losing my mind a little here. I am trying to export this short clip that is only ~2:30 and every time I export it, it kicks out this huge 1.13 GB file. What the heck is going on? I exported a different section of this same video a few days ago with the same specs and it didn't do this. I restarted premiere, cleared cache, and it still does the same thing. Including specs before and after I export.

Edit: SOLVED

Needed to adjust video target bit rate from 60 to 20 in the video export settings. Brought final export down to 388MB.

How do I do this? / Workflow Advice / Looking for plugin Ken burns effect presets or plugins?

Hey guys beginner here, nothing too crazy im looking for ken burns presets or plugins, basically just zoom in/out, slight up/down & left/right. I work in 1920 x 1080 HD

But the annoying thing is that, when i want to zoom in into any place that isn't the center, if i make go to the final keyframe and adjust the end position, when i go back to the 1st keyframe the image is cropped off

Also i tried messing around with anchor point and position, they weren't perfect, i tried nesting, but really it didn't change much.

If there is a plugin for it, i would also like a flexible option where i could control the duration/scale with a slider, because i found native premiere keyframes to be a nightmare and very draining

Also had envato and motion array subscription, no luck, no presets found, any of you pros great tips? Thanks

Also i use film impact FX heavily, and i find the native zoom in/out useful, until i want the point of focus to zoom in that isn't center, also not really sure how to use the slides

ALSO when zooms and slides are combined, it makes it much more complex
