Any good programs out there for increasing weighted chinup AS WELL AS the powerlifts?

Hey folks, I would say I'm a pretty late intermediate powerlifter, I have a 495kg total at 78kg bodyweight (I'm only 5 foot 6 and don't wanna gain much more weight).

I've always been interested in increasing my weighted chinup too, and treating it like a powerlift. My one rep max is 40kg right now.

However, it was mostly going up when I was doing "powerbuilding" program. For the last year, I did purely powerlifting programs (TSA Intermediate and Calgary Barbell), and I only did chinups once a week as part of these. I made good gains on SBD but my chinup didn't go up (I gained weight but the added weight stayed the same).

Honestly I would love to break my pleatau and hit 50kg some time. I was thinking that I can I can do something like what Jim Wendler wrote about in this article: https://www.jimwendler.com/blogs/jimwendler-com/101078150-weighted-chins, essentially do one heavy day, one volume bodyweight day, and one super light day. I was thinking I'd do this alongside TSA Intermediate or Calgary, but just remove all the other upper back work like rows. Any opinions on this, and are there any other programs that the chinup afficionados here have followed?

Successful bench press

Would this count as a successful bench press? Or based on when the spotter pulls it back would this not count?

Deadlift PR 240kg at 72kg BW

Hit a 240 kg Deadlift PR Yesterday! Looking for Feedback on My Programming and Form

Hit a new deadlift PR of 240 kg yesterday!

My usual warm-up progression is:

- 100 kg × 5 reps

- 140 kg × 3 reps

- 180 kg × 2 reps

Yesterday, I decided to try 230 kg × 2 reps before attempting 240 kg. The 230 kg set felt strong, and I felt like I still had some energy left in the tank, so I went for 240 kg.

For context, last week I pulled 235 kg for two separate sets: one double and one single.

My current programming: Wave Periodization

I follow a four-week wave, gradually reducing the weight while increasing the volume:

- Week 1: Heavy singles/doubles — working toward a max PR.

- Week 2: 200 kg × 3 reps × 3 sets.

- Week 3: 180 kg × 5 reps × 5 sets.

- Week 4: 150 kg × 8-10 reps × 3 sets.

Then I repeat the cycle, aiming to build strength and hopefully push my PR higher.

I'd appreciate feedback on a few things:

  1. How does this wave periodization approach look for building maximal deadlift strength?

  2. Am I doing too much volume or intensity during my heavy week, especially after pulling 230 kg for a double before attempting 240 kg?

  3. Is my warm-up progression appropriate for these weights, or should I make any changes?

  4. What do you think about my deadlift form and technique?

  5. Would you recommend any changes to the programming to help me progress toward a bigger PR while managing fatigue?

I'm interested in feedback from experienced lifters, especially those pulling 220 kg+ and those who have used wave periodization successfully. Should I increase my BW like bulking to up numbers on the bar.

Thanks!

meet anxiety

i’ve mentioned in a previous post that i’ll be competing in a small charity meet soon, but i’m so insanely nervous. and this is my first meet ever. i have high functioning anxiety and stage freight and have never performed in front of a crowd; the only thing i’ve done was presentations in a small class lol.
most people say that the anxiety goes away after the first lift cuz of the adrenaline but holy fuck i’m scared😭.
do yall have any tips for me to keep my sanity and not have an anxiety attack during it?

first meet

hi everyone. i've been in the gym for over 5 years. only recently have i focused my training towards strength, specifically the big 3 compound lifts. i still struggle significantly with my squat, and would consider bench to be my strong point (typical leg day hater). i'm a 165 lb woman who benches 170, deadlifts 275 and am unsure of my max squat but know that it is atleast 160 (brutal🫩). are these decent enough numbers to compete for the first time? i love that the powerlifting community is so supportive so i feel confident that everyone will encourage me to try. so more than that, any advice before my first meet?

SBD PL Knee Sleeve VS A7 Hourglass Stiff (not Rigor Mortis)

Hey guys, I need your help over this debate.

Either a pair or new A7 Hourglass Stiff Sleeve

or

The thing is, I have NO Idea how both feel. Does anyone have both pairs and could weigh in this thread?

Thanks!

Oly lifter try’s bench

I’m on a side quest to hit a 160 kg bench press. I’m only planning to train it once a week, maybe twice if I can fit it in.
Any tips on technique? Also, how many dedicated bench reps per week would you recommend to make progress without taking too much away from my Olympic weightlifting training?

People 5'8"-5'9"/173-176cm, what weight class are you competing in currently?

Followup: Did you start in that class or move there over time? And do you plan on moving up in the future?

(Will do my first meet at 83kg this year, wondering if I'm in way too low of a class.)

I had to take my belt in recently! My weight hasn’t changed but my body has gone through a little recomp.

No changes in diet, just being consistent in the gym. Strength continues to go up, spirits remain high, looking to roll into the dark season here in the PNW with good momentum.
