Hey there! I’m very new to post rock, but last night I discovered Caspian through an Instagram Reel where someone compared their songs “Remain” and “Gone in Bloom and Bough” to one of my favorite video games of all time – Outer Wilds.

I’ve dabbled in artists like Sigur Ross and 65daysofstatic (who’s work on No Man’s Sky I really enjoyed), but I think Caspian is the band that’s making post rock “click” for me. Maybe it’s just my bias inherently comparing their sound to Outer Wilds, but I love how atmospheric and spacey their music is. So far I’ve listened to their newest self-titled album, their first album “The Four Trees” and their third album “Waking Season” which is far and beyond my favorite. I actually ordered a first pressing of the vinyl online this morning and I’m very excited about it.

I’d love to keep exploring the genre though, so what are your recommendations?

EDIT: Just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their suggestions! I’ve got tons of new music to check out and I’m really looking forward to it (once I finish Caspian’s discography, of course).

A 7 day stretch with some incredible releases.

Caspian self-titled, Sidus - Lotus, Toundra - Siete, Shy, Low - Purity Spiral in the space of 7 days (and Cloudkicker is dropping new tracks too)

This is so transparently lazy AI slop that it has me questioning the value of the music produced by one of my favorite artists.

We’ve been working to get this record out for quite some time. This record has been a labor of love. A concept record based off of the 1977 NASA Voyager missions in which two twin satellites where launched into space to tour the outer planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. A journey that has lasted almost 50 years.

In so many ways, this concept album is metaphorical. Voyager I & Voyager II represent the the two twin satellites, The Great Red Spot on Jupiter, the Rings of Saturn, the icy Clouds of Uranus and Neptune known as the great Dissolver.

The seventh and final bonus track Interstellar is exclusively available only on vinyl and cd. If you're in Vegas, come out to our FREE album release this Friday 10/23 at Dustland!

Hi there. I've been a fan of post-rock since I discovered GY!BE in 2000. I saw the genre evolving to a kind of standard I must say. But today I fell on this Youtube video and for me it's something different but I think related with post-rock (I know, 10 years later). What do you think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PARM1V0NkFA

Hey everyone! I’m an indie composer, and I just released a new track. I used to focus mostly on neoclassical piano music, but lately, I’ve been experimenting with my sound and trying new things. This track is the result of those experiments. Would love to hear what you think😊

Sharing a little love for the fabulous Ausklang who supported Oh Hiroshima last night in Budapest.

They said they are off to Vienna today, best wishes to them. A fabulous gig overall with Oh Hiroshima giving Mono a run for their money in sheer massive volume size massive-ivity.

This is my favorite Maserati album.
Looking for recommendations with some electronic and groovy elements.
Thanks!

This footage is from the artist’s perspective, but I wanted to share some photos from Can Festival in Wenzhou, China. My band was lucky to be invited and able to make it across the world from Buffalo, NY to China to play. The lineup was insane. Two stages this time— the smaller stage featured all Chinese acts. There was a really good variety of bands. Ranging from black metal to jazz. Wang Wen closed the fest out. The production value is insane, no expense spared. The stage basically had an IMAX screen behind it, with two side screens showing top-quality live camera feeds. They use a state of the art sound system called L-ISA and has numerous side and rear satellite speakers. They mixed it for a 3D sound. Numerous times I had to look around because I could hear audio spiraling around me. They have a huge team running the sound and video operations. As well as a large staff of volunteers who personally accompany every band to get them where they need to go and assist with translation. The attendees and fans are the greatest. There is a tradition of them making crafts and trinkets and trading them with each other and gifting them to artists. We came home with bags full of gifts from fans— so sweet! And they are serious about the music. Very serious. It made me gain a new/old appreciation for the impact and importance of music in the human experience. This was my personal experience and impression of the festival.

New album, ‘Paradigms,’ coming on November 20th.

Looks like they also started up a server for like-minded music fans to chat about gear, life, etc, as well as to occasionally get early updates on the upcoming release, new demos, tracks, b-sides etc.

The breakdown at the end of this song is amazing; just inject it directly into my veins.

Fucking ace. I've never seen either. Listened to Caspian for almost 20 years. Less familiar with ASIWYFA but they rocked, so tight and some super fun stuff. It's so weird seeing guys I've listened to for literal decades as actual people actually playing this stuff. Lots of fun. Appreciate it. Though had to leave a few mins early, guh.

Grabbed the new Caspian on vinyl, got a bone coloured one. The new stuff sounded great.

To top it off, spent the day atop a mountain on perfect weather. Far Country indeed. Absolutely joyous.

Anyone else there? Get some good pics?

Their new album is pretty amazing...

I shared my album 'Quiet' here a while ago and got a surprisingly positive response from this community, so I wanted to share my new release 'Prisms' here as well. Similar to 'Quiet', this is a very calm, low-key collection of guitar compositions. If anything, the songs on this album are even a bit more relaxed. I'm really happy with this group of songs, and excited to share them. You can listen to the album on Bandcamp, and if you like what you hear, I'm posting a link below where you can download the album for free. I know there are a million new releases from amazing artists everyday, so any listens at all are immensely appreciated. I hope you enjoy!

Haven't seen anyone mention this band yet, and they really deserve a shout-out.

This album is an absolute stunner, heavy and layered with a great atmosphere.

Check out the full album, highly recommended.

Have always been a fan of post-rock like explosions in the sky, Godspeed you black emperor & Tortoise. My camp counselor played “your hand in mine” when I was 14.. 20 years ago & it’s one of those songs that can slow down life when you need. Sometimes the sound bite “ the car is on fire..” randomly comes out as a stim I’d randomly say. “Mogwai fear death” needs to be played out in entirety..

I say this to hopefully soften my self promotion as a long time fan trying to see how we stand. I play bass in Fight Music and we just released our first ever single. Based in Brooklyn, NY. Would be curious if this sub thinks this fits the bill ? Also would love to know any other local post rock bands in the nyc area to check out. Happy Friday

First single from "A Moonrise Was the Second Coming," due out this December.
