No Paywall Chuck Schumer Hasn’t Said a Word About Trump’s Attempt to Deport Ilhan Omar
https://truthout.org/articles/chuck-schumer-hasnt-said-a-word-about-trumps-attempt-to-deport-ilhan-omar/•
u/walmartbonerpills 4h ago
He needs to not be in charge of shit when the Senate flips. Limp wrist ancient retirees aren't getting the job done any more.
•
u/chaostheories36 3h ago
That’s not what he is. He’s as bad as the republicans. Bought and paid for by billionaires.
He doesn’t give a shit about anyone beyond his family and getting his own.
It’s depressing how many of them are unwilling to expose the corruption.
•
u/PlagueOfBedlam 3h ago
He very much cares about the imaginary republican family that lives in his head and talks to him about policy all the time.
•
•
u/chaostheories36 3h ago
Ah, I remember that. Evidence that we don’t have two political parties, we just have one that owns the two.
•
u/El-Drunko 40m ago
I tell you what, if I was taking directions on how to do my job from an imaginary person then I would have lost it the instant it came out.
•
u/SillyAlternative420 Massachusetts 3h ago
He literally said it's job to support Israel or something to that effect
•
u/chaostheories36 3h ago
I’m being critical of limp wrist ancient retiree.
He’s doing exactly what he’s been told to do.
•
•
u/drewts86 2h ago
> He doesn’t give a shit about anyone beyond his family and getting his own.
You just described conservative politics at its core.
•
u/chaostheories36 2h ago
Not just conservative. All of it.
Hundreds of reps don’t have the moral fiber to be better.
Fuck all the senators.
•
u/MHanky 3h ago
Need to get rid of all of them. Vote them out and let the new blood in. People are sick of this shit.
•
u/chaostheories36 3h ago
We desperately need to get all of this old blood out of govt.
•
u/Capt_Reynolds Pennsylvania 37m ago
It's not about age. New blood is people like Hakeem Jeffries who see "The West Wing" as something worth emulating and aren't any better.
•
•
u/walmartbonerpills 3h ago
Think he's been to the island? There's still a lot that hasn't been made public and bodies are still dropping
•
u/filthwielder 3h ago
He's a Zionist and wants strong Anti-Israel voices out of "his" party. He has sided with Trump and Republicans on their support of Israel. He knows the Democratic party is leaving Israel behind because it is politically toxic, the base is barely over 10٪ for support for Israel.
•
u/Zealousid_Eyedeal 41m ago
Have things shifted that much since 2024 with Kamala and Biden being staunch defenders?
(Yes I'm aware of the attempt to build the pier that fell apart pretty fast and attempting to block the bigger bombs killing children. And I am being genuine about the question.)
•

u/CaliIsReallyNice 23m ago
It has nothing to do with his age. Democratic Party leadership WANTS to lose. They want to come in second place every single time. That way they can look like they're a good alternative and desperate voters will donate to them. The democrats want to lose. Schumer wants trump to stay in power. Schumer is just as much of a traitor as trump is.
•
u/Mikethebest78 4h ago
I am so sick of this guy and his inability to take a stand on anything.
•
u/veggeble South Carolina 4h ago
He’ll stand up for Israel, no problem. America, though, definitely not.
•
u/TaterForming 4h ago
Israel pays more than the U.S. though technically it's the U.S. with extra steps.
•
•
u/OffGridTwister 4h ago
He’s writing a strongly worded letter, the useless piece of crap
•
u/adorablefuzzykitten 4h ago
Can't think of anyone in the Senate who would do a worse job representing the democratic party than Chuck Schumer. I can accept his voting record but he could not lead a "please fill in the blank".
•
•
•
u/adonericthewayfarer 3h ago
Hey, he does a very good job of representing the Baileys, Israel and when his colleagues are deeply concerned about stuff.
•
•
•
u/KinkyPaddling 3h ago
He won’t even do something performative because his stated goal is to promote Israel’s interests and keep the left pro-Israel. Omar stands in opposition to this goal.
•
u/Bittererr 4h ago
If he was then he would have already published it like the leader of the house did.

u/livadeth 3h ago
I used to think Schumer and Jeffries were just useless corporate Dems. Then I saw them with Israeli leaders and realized the extent of their ties to AIPAC and now I think they are not only useless but corrupt and beholden to Israeli and corporate interests. We need to clean house.
•
u/adonericthewayfarer 3h ago
AOC is gonna nuke him, she already has one higher-than-her ranking scalp
•
•
u/Kooky-Law-5823 4h ago
It's because schumer doesn't like her. Obviously. Why would he stick his neck out for her? Because you think schumer is gonna do the right thing just to do the right thing? The guys a ghoul.
•
u/thecamino 4h ago
She spoke out against AIPAC and was labeled by Pelosi and others as antisemitic. Democratic leaders have it out for Ilhan Omar as much as the Republicans.
•
•
•
u/Legitimate-Match-477 1h ago
Hint hint schumer is owned by aipac, and the attack on omar is pushed by the israelis.

•
u/SunbornThunderstorm 3h ago
Interesting. This post is 29 minutes old and its been flooded with people blaming Schumer, a Senator and the DNC for what Trump is doing to Omar, a Rep. And oddly enough none of them are talking about how Hakeem Jeffries has been at the forefront raising hell over this. Why is everyone telling people not to vote for Dems over this?
•
u/itsnotnews92 North Carolina 1h ago
I've seen so many posts across social media the last two days screaming "Why have Jeffries and the Democrats been silent about this????" and then when people responded with screenshots of posts and statements from Jeffries and other Democrats, the OP moved the goalposts to "Oh well strongly worded statements are sure going to help."
This is the unfortunate byproduct of a culture where lots of people are intensely political but have very little idea of how government or politics work. Like when this sub swore up and down for months that Mitch McConnell was definitely dead and said Andy Beshear was a feckless coward for not sua sponte declaring him dead and appointing a replacement.
•
•
•
u/donkeyrocket 2h ago
I agree with your point but if “raising hell” is a very weak statement vaguely blaming “right wing conspiracy theorists” days ago then yes, Jeffries also needs to fucking go.
There is an effort to divide democrats, I’m blue no matter who but post election, Jeffries need to fucking go or actually raise hell.
→ More replies (1)•
u/SunbornThunderstorm 2h ago
Dems have no power. People chose that in 2024
•
u/tripping_on_phonics California 2h ago
So which is it? Is Jeffries “raising hell”, or does he have no power?
•
u/SunbornThunderstorm 2h ago
Raising hell is literally all he can do. You’re not gonna win this
•
u/BonJovicus 2h ago
I mean you are the one making no sense here and going in circles. In response to the need for Jeffries to make hell you declared Dems have no power. You have a very mild idea of “raising hell,” especially relative to what other members of congress do with their platform.
•
u/Gold-Guard7404 1h ago
"Raising hell" generally refers to extreme rhetorical tactics, not wielding any type of power. Hope that helps

If they're like myself it's because there's a lot of rage and disappointment in Schumer and other democratic leadership. It really does look like they don't really put 100% effort in fighting the republican agendas, so when things like this pop up, it's just residual rage from all of the other times Schumer has been ineffectual, almost to the point where he's intentionally giving republicans a pass.
•
u/WhiskeyT 1h ago
Every day there are multiple posts blaming Democrats for shit Republicans do.
Every post with the name Schumer in it has top comments about “strongly worded letters” “the Bailey’s” and some form of “Senator from Israel”.
Have you ever seen a post blaming John Thune for anything? When you see that name do you immediately have several disparaging jokes ready to go?
Doesn’t that seem weird?
•
u/micro102 1h ago
Being backstabbed hurts more, and I can already dismiss all republicans as a fascist deathcult. But people like Schumer lead to the fascist deathcult. His devotion to Israel as they commit genocide is disgusting, he has accused Omar of antisemitism, and his refusal to endorse Mamdani and the recent statements by the DNC to declare themselves capitalists and socialism an enemy shows that there is part of the democratic party that hates the left more than the republicans (a group that literally tried to kidnap/kill them in a coup), and it is very easy to see him looking for excuses to get rid of those who don't support Israel.. We have seen a similiar scene play out in Germany, where the Weimar republic sided with the Nazis over the communists, and look at how that turned out.
So it is very, very important to make sure that anger against Schumer is expressed, as when the democrats take power back, people like Schumer should not be Senate majority leader.
•
→ More replies (2)•
u/Soft_Rabbit_6003 0m ago
We don't need to care about Republicans. We all should have written them off by now. Nonsensical word salad of a post.
•
u/FinalScientist6688 51m ago
You need to tune into MSNow to find out how Dems are fighting against what the GOP is doing. You will see plenty. Just because one Senator is out of the lime light does not mean anything. And who knows what his agenda may be.
•
•
u/Only8livesleft 1h ago
Why is it surprising? Schumer is less popular than Trump.
→ More replies (1)•
u/Rhubarb-Nation 1h ago
If the justification for Schumer's silence here comes down to "sure they share a party, but he's a senaator and she's a rep," then the Dems truly are cooked from a movement perspective

u/ElectricalAlfalfa701 1h ago
liberals will do anything but accept the valid problems potential voters have with the DNC. hmm idk why people are mad about schumer not doing anything, oh wait maybe because its his job to oppose trump? oh wait I forgot his job is apparently to keep sending unlimited money to the illegitimate zionist state so it can murder children and steal land.
•
u/blue_quark 4h ago edited 4h ago
This article is a disservice to Representative Omar. She is being unfairly and likely illegally persecuted by Donald Trump and his administration. That is where all attention needs to be focused, I have little use for Hakeem Jeffries and less than that for Schumer but using Ilhan Omar’s situation as a cudgel to attack them is stupid.
•
u/SunbornThunderstorm 3h ago
Jeffires has been out and furious about this. He's raising hell. Which makes sense. Shes a House Rep.

u/mister_mediocrates 3h ago
The fact that one of the most important Democratic politicians in the country is a fascist enabler/collaborator is a pretty big deal. Nothing changes if the Dems win in November, but we're still saddled with this do-nothing asshole who would rather see Republicans in office than progressives.
•
•
u/smiama36 3h ago
Rage bait to get democrats to jump on the “must hate Schumer” bandwagon. Omar is not a senator.’ Hakeem Jeffries has condemned the raid and attacks on Omar.
•
u/sfeeju 3h ago
so what if she's not a senator? she's a high profile member of his party being abused by the administration

Silly goose. If you're not a senator, Chuck doesn't have to care if you're disappeared and deported by the fascists.
•
u/ditchdiggergirl 2h ago
That raid was an absolute outrage, and I think he is correct to not play into it. If it’s not going to drive voter turnout, and his statement won’t do anything except cause a distraction, he should keep his mouth shut for the next few weeks. His focus should be on getting back into the majority so we can (hopefully) maybe do something more than release statements.
At that point we can talk about who should leading that majority

I’m sick of the tedious
withwitch hunt on Schumer [edit typo]. Left again siding with GOP.Nothing would make GOP happier that if Schumer is replaced! Because no one passes more bills that Schumer.
Also: despite what trash propaganda TruthOut says: it would be inappropriate for the Minority Speaker of the Senate to get involved wrt a House Rep when facts are not there yet.
Oh so typical of TruthOut to criticize Dems for the actions of GOP! “With friends like this, who needs enemies?!?”
•
•
u/FreeRangePixel 3h ago
I think the GOP would be pretty happy with useless spineless Chuck Schumer as a leader of the opposition, since that sleepy loser has said he's not going to impeach Trump and can't wait to make deals with the Republicans.

u/Spare_Iron127 2h ago

•
•
u/Rhubarb-Nation 1h ago
1) not suppoeting Schumer = siding with the GOP? Are you for real? 2) "inappropriate?" Seriously? This is the type of sanctimonious proceduralism that has been driving the Dems to legislative ineptitude for years now. 3) "facts not there yet..." What facts are you referring to? We know ICE raided a Democratic rep's house on dubious pretenses.... what more do you need?
•
u/mister_mediocrates 3h ago
Schumer being happy to see both Muslims and progressives fed to the hogs means that it's the left who are somehow siding with the GOP. The alternate reality you people live in is fascinating.
•
u/BringBackAoE 3h ago
What are you even talking about?
•
u/Rhubarb-Nation 1h ago
It's not very well worded, but I think they're basically saying that Schumer's Islamophobia and conservatism are the truly extreme positions here, not the left's criticism of establishment Dems.
If I'm interpreting this right, then I wholeheartedly agree.
•
u/Sardonnicus New York 51m ago
Because establishment Democrats are not your saviors they take money from the same Israeli pacs and billionaires that the Republicans do
The difference is Republicans will tell you that they do it straight to your face Democrats will hide it and pretend like they have your best interests and heart.
There is a new movement Brewing inside the Democratic Party people like Mamdani leading the way for change
•
•
u/some_one_234 3h ago
If the democrats keep their congressional leadership they will squander any and all gains they get in this election and make themselves completely irrelevant in 2028. So I totally expect that to happen

Even on this sub, a while ago the blatant attacks on Omar were pretty gross and open. There is was ton of ashkenazi bigotry and hatred there.
No surprises Schumer doesn't understand the implications of Trump's actions. Omar was rightly critical of apartheidistan. To Schumer this is a crime (it isn't by any meaningful moral code).
He is undoubtedly celebrating this because he is loyal to the Epstein Protectorate.
Once you realise westernists and Zionists are trapped into a toddler mindset, a ton of their actions and rhetoric make way more sense.
