No Paywall Trump Threatens Criminal Action Against Clinton, Obama, And Biden If Impeached Again

u/Im_TroyMcClure 13h ago
Is this supposed to be a threat? Like does he think voters are gonna be like “I was gonna vote Democrat in the midterms but I don’t want him to investigate Biden.”
566
u/tape_snake 12h ago
Also, if he had something solid to investigate these people over, why wouldn't he just do it anyway? He's villainized these people non-stop for a decade now and sells to his base the idea of rooting out their corruption... but now that he has the power to do it, the investigations will only happen in retribution?
Trump is using the federal justice system like a weapon (oh, look, "Lawfare"!), and if his base could do surface-level critical thinking for the five seconds it would take to see it, they'd be very upset.
127
u/starliteburnsbrite 12h ago
You're talking about a group of people that includes those who think Tommy Tuberville is the right guy for the US Senate. Five seconds of critical thought might literally cause an aneurysm.

u/TaterForming 12h ago
Hey Tommy could name all three branches of government if you asked:

As a democrat, like, okay? Please do investigate if there are legitimate crimes. Clinton was a decent president but absolutely a sleazeball. I care more about justice than any particular politician. I would just have to take the 20 ft Biden flags off my lifted truck. Oh wait...
21
u/IDOWNVOTERUSSIANS 11h ago
if there are legit crimes, these are absolutely not the people you want investigating. On one hand, they're more interested in power than justice, so any legitimate guilt simply becomes leverage; and on the other hand, they're so incompetent that they'd mishandle the investigation and get the whole thing thrown out. Either way, no justice is achieved.
17
u/oldpasswordforgot 10h ago
but absolutely a sleazeball.
Let's not repeat team (R) buzz-phrases. Bill Clinton was a skirt chaser like quite a few POTUS before him (and after him), he could be arrogant, pissing enough elected democrats that some got back to him by voting to impeach, lacked judgement re. monica lewinsky (it would have remained a secret had she not started bragging about her affair with him after she was transferred to the Pentagon around '96), but he doesn't deserve to be lumped with the likes of trump.
The guy was definitively not perfect (still isn't), but let's not exaggerate his failings. No one, not even saint bernie would come out smelling like roses if they got dragged through the mud like the Clintons were by team (R). They truly went out of their way to humiliate him, to make him look as bad as possible. To this day, they still want their revenge for nixon and Clinton was the closest they ever got to it. That's why they still periodically go after him and keep spreading stories about him and his family.

He may be hoping that Clinton, Obama, & Biden will use their influence to discourage Dem leadership from initiating impeachment.
Frankly I think he’s full of it. I don’t believe he has any info of their criminality, he’s just bluffing & threatening like he’s done countless times with Iran. And if he actually had any such information, there’s no way he’s wouldn’t have released it “out of respect for the presidency.” He’s got a picture of an autopen for Biden in the WH. He’s got no respect for the presidency.

Benedict Arnold might be dethroned??!?
575
u/gmen6981 13h ago
Prior to becoming a traitor, Benedict Arnold was a hero having been instrumental in the capture of Fort Ticonderoga, leading the American forces in the Battle of Saratoga and several other campaigns. He was considered one of the American's best and most ferocious commanders. Although treason is treason and Arnold was without a doubt a traitor for planning on turning West Point over to the British, he had a somewhat legitimate beef with the Continental Congress that led him to switch sides. Trump got nuthin'
254
u/zyzzogeton 12h ago
BA was also a competent general with an education. Look at his letter explaining his treason and ask yourself if Trump could ever read anything like this, much less write it

Benedict's actual impact was pretty small. His plan to surrender that fort didn't work, and when he switched sides he only led a couple minor raids. Plus, the outrage of his defection united the colonies even more.
Trump is actively bringing on the collapse of American hegemony and the fall of America as the leader of the free world. In addition, the US Aid cuts that Elon did on behalf of Trump have led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people already.
45
u/PrimeToro 12h ago
Plus Benedict Arnold was actually a brave and courageous general for the continental army of George Washington, who risked his life and was almost killed in a couple of battles.
He only turned traitor after repeatedly being mistreated by the continental congress . Even then, after he was broke , it took a bad marriage to the wrong woman to get him to become a traitor.
Trump willingly decided to become a traitor.
Benedict Arnold was still a traitor but Trump is much worse than him.
→ More replies (1)25
u/FaceDeer 12h ago
And if nothing else, Benedict Arnold was a traitor for some particular cause. To the British he was a loyalist who risked a lot for their benefit.
Trump cares about nothing except his own personal benefit, and for that matter only his personal benefit in the immediate here-and-now short term. He wants what benefits Trump right here, right now, with no other care or interest beyond that.
I'd find him to be an implausible caricature if he were a fictional character.

It really "woke" me up to how awful America has become. But it didn't happen overnight. Started with the recision of the Fairness Doctrine and super charged with Russian Info Ops backing rightwing MAGA influencers and negatively impacting the overall political process itself. In a way, I congratulate the Neo-Soviet Union under Tsar Putin for defeating the US without firing a single shot. he’s desperately trying to do everything he owes to Putin but the intelligence agency probably has him incriminated for ties to Epstein. So he’s desperately trying to both not end up in prison and avoid getting JFK’d.

The weirdest thing is how he said he's not scared to die or something along those lines while being interviewed but he's been surrounded by bulletproof glass every time he does some rallying for some candidate because he seems terrified. You can take Epstein out of things and prison is still a very real possibility for him (he didn't get sentenced and it's waiting on him). Add in Epstein and he might as well just go out without the bulletproof glass.

Trump said he deliberately chose not to act on the information he possesses. "I turned down going after Hillary Clinton. I'm talking about go after them criminally, or I could have done something having to do with their reputations, destroyed their reputations. We have a lot of information about Hillary. We have a lot of information about Barack Hussein Obama. We have a lot of information on Sleepy Joe Biden," he said.
OK, first of all, BULLSHIT, like most of what this sentient diaper says. Secondly, if it were true, then he's obstructing justice and abusing his office by preventing federal investigation of crimes he's aware of, which makes him complicit in the alleged crimes of others.
So either way, he's a complete sack of corrupt shit as everyone already knows. Impeach, remove, indict, convict, imprison that fucking Felon-in-Chief.

That's how senile he is. He thinks that this is such a gotcha moment that he can't even imagine the last 16 years of the world moving on from those wind-up toy conspiracy theories about OBAMA of all people. Literally the most beloved president since Kennedy!

20
u/beefytrout Texas 8h ago
Had a conversation with my ultra-MAGA boss in the days after the 2020 election. she was completely convinced that the election had been stolen from Trump.
I asked her why Trump's attorneys weren't able to produce any evidence of that claim whatsoever, despite over 60 appearances in court over "election interference." She said that the entire judicial system was preventing Trump from submitting the evidence that would prove his claims.
So I countered with: if these claims do actually exist, and the entire judicial system is systematically preventing him from proving that the election was stolen... why doesn't he just go public himself with it? He could post it on social media or provide the proof to the news media. She said that the media industry and "big tech" were coordinating together to make sure he wasn't able to release the proof.
I asked her point blank: so you think the entire judicial system, the entire news media industry, and the entire tech industry are all working together to prevent Trump from proving his claim that the election was stolen? "Yes. I 100% believe that's what is happening."
That's the moment I realized that anyone who is MAGA is beyond logic. I walked away from the conversation.

Ukraine’s very recent bombing of three Russian data centers has massively compromised their chances of winning the election. As soon as it happened, both Truth Social and Twitter/X instantly had far, far less MAGA/right wing content being posted and/or engaged with.
It’s also most certainly why Trump disabled StarShield (the special StarLink used by offensive Ukrainian operations and totally controlled by the US government) shortly after. When asked why they disabled it, Trump and team said “we didn’t disable StarLink for Ukraine”. Which is technically true, as Musk controls that, and it’s used for defensive Ukrainian operations.. but StarShield is totally distinct, and they did shut that down. Only POTUS or his administration can shut down SS.
Although regarding that issue, I also blame the media, as they seem to have conflated StarLink and StarShield, and didn’t question his answer. If a random redditor like me knows the difference, I would fully expect professional journalists covering the topic to also know the distinction.
It’s one of the reasons they’re panicking now. They absolutely do not think that they have this in the bag.

If you think an impeachment will make him a lame duck, trying to prosecute three former presidents with Trumped up fake charges will be a bigger 24-7 news cycle thing that will dominate all news

He’s delusional.
I like Obama, but if they caught him being a criminal, I’d want to see him arrested. Same for Biden, Clinton, etc.
… same for Trump, Vance, Hegseth, Rubio, etc…

I know this is a longshot…but if there are enough Republican senators at jeopardy of losing their seats in 2028 they could side with the Dems to remove him. Nixon was going to be forced out by his own party. Of course Nixon didn’t have the power of Fox News then and the parties have definitely become more die hard team sport oriented

go ahead and try. it will be a great way to get the case of presidential immunity revisited so that it can either be reversed or once and for all prove that the SC is playing defense for trump. both outcomes work against him.

If they broke the law like Trump, go for it. I hold no loyalty to politicians.
Obama, Hilary, Biden, and Bush should be held accountable for indiscriminately murdering civilians in the middle east and for aiding and abetting Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel's genocide against the Palestinian people at minimum, they had more information than the public and allowed it to continue.
Don't defend war criminals, if we are going to hold one accountable, they should all be held accountable.

He's claiming he's sitting on damaging information. If so, he needs to release it. Really detrimental to democracy to say he has damaging information and will only release it if he is politically damaged.

He literally campaigned to lockup Hillary. Ten years later, still nothing. If he was so hell bent on locking people up, she would potentially be the easiest because she never had any presidential immunity. The walking talking turd taco is scared he just might have to face gasp consequences.

That reminded me of Jason Chaffetz (the one who actually leaked the report that the FBI was investigating Hillary, leading to Comey having to come public). He actually resigned as a result of that. He was so sure there would be that flood of incriminating evidence and when that never happened, he took his subpoena pen and went home.
If he had anything on any of the them, he could have done something by now. He even had a competent AG in his first term that could have made it happen.

Funny that Trump will only hold them accountable if he is held accountable for his crimes. Typically, innocent people want to pursue justice against guilty people without regard to their own criminal histories...because the innocent have no criminal history.

Trump threatening to prosecute anyone is beyond insane. The President is not the DoJ or the FBI, the President should have absolutely zero say in what does or doesn't get prosecuted. Trump just brazenly threatening to prosecute former Presidents if Democrats impeach him again is impeachment worthy in and of itself but we just shrug it off because Trump has so thoroughly warped our politics and the rule of law.

Anything any previous president did is covered by the presidential immunity Trump himself has established at the Supreme Court. They could have personally signed a secret order to have someone piss in his soup and he couldn't do anything because of what HE HIMSELF has argued and won

First - if? Why make it contingent on being impeached? If they’ve done something wrong, prosecute it. Making it a quid pro quo arrangement immediately establishes it as retaliatory nonsense.
Second - if it was something they did in their official capacity, the dumbass SCOTUS has ruled immunity. So good luck drumming something up outside whatever ‘official capacities’ can include.
