No Paywall MAGA official tells people to spend new $1 Trump coin at liberal coffee shops to own the libs

The liberul coffee shop? Like the ones that sell coffee for $7/cup? So if you use the Trump $1 coin, its actual cost to them would be $42. Go for it MAGAts!

Seriously not sure how they're owning the libs by spending money at perceived liberal coffee shops, but they can go right ahead.
After Charlie Kirk there were all those videos of people saying their name is Charlie Kirk, then getting offended when the baristas weren't offended. Also pretty questionable how much "triggering" will occur. I'm guessing 99% of baristas either won't care and just want the customer out of their way, or will just be legitimately confused because they haven't heard of the coin.
Now let's see how well a MAGA chode takes it when their coin gets rejected and they run to a cop or something and find out how little anybody cares.

There is a 100% chance someone will smugly hand this coin to a barista who won't know what it is, and who will reject it because they don't think it's real currency, and then the person who tried to pay with it will make some self righteous post on social media about how the libs are so deranged that they illegally reject money just because it has Trump's face on it, Republicans are so persecuted, etc.

American companies have no obligation to accept coins unless used as legal tender for debt (after the transaction is approved).

Worse than that. It’s a $1 coin that costs something like $61 bucks to purchase a 25 coin roll (or $2.41/coin).
A medium latte at Starbucks costs something like $4 so this would be MAGA spending $10 on a $4 cup of coffee to trigger baristas.

I mean you just explained their entire political movement. Making other people mad is their raison d'etre.
102
u/Catshit-Dogfart 12h ago
That was never more evident than when they had a subreddit here.
Back in 2015/2016 they'd use their bots to shit up the entire front page of reddit, when you open the site it'd be full maga trolling up and down. So reddit changed the rules, no one sub can be on the front page twice, and they lost their minds to the point of creating an entire reddit fork called Voat.
It became clear then - the point was never to be a legitimate political movement, the point was to troll. When deprived of the ability to troll they get pissy.
31
u/Electric_Antimony 11h ago
Another dead giveaway is when they complain about reddit being so "far left" and that this site is so terrible, biased, and censorship happy that poor little conservatives can't achieve being prom king of reddit. Ask them why they're even hear instead of conservative social media.
They haven't been programmed with a response to that question yet, so they have to try and figure out whether to act like normal humans and answer the question or to double down on magatardism and pivot to trolling or making up some fake excuse.
16
u/BimboDeeznuts 10h ago
It’s also why they piss and moan about Bluesky so much - there’s a function where you can follow a block list someone else makes and updates that will completely eliminate these shits off the feed.
One obnoxious comment is usually all it takes to be added to the troll list, and after that they’re just screaming into a void.

As an american, commemorative "collectible" coins from the mint have ALWAYS been a thing. Usually it's commissioned by the president and it'll be something like a "bicentennial" coin to commemorate the milestone or a "Celebrate the birth of the nation with this commemorative coin with the white house on the back and current presiident on the front. We even painted the metal! With colors!"
They're not legal tender and they are usually purchased as SINGLE lots for like... twice the cost of the denomination anywhere up to like $20 if that particular president wanted to make it out of an actual precious metal. A lot of times the money goes into the Mint and helps to keep the Mint running.
NEVER have I seen it done IN ROLLS and at almost 3x markup from there. There's no way these are legal tender and I'm pretty sure this is another perverting of tradition. If they do get accepted for legal tender... I will just be a sad american again I guess.

On one hand, I am pretty sure it's illegal to print money with a living person on it.
On the other hand, that's never stopped him before.

The people around him (law enforcement, judiciary, legislature) are supposed to stop him. When we take out the trash, we need to clean all those houses too.

A lot of things he did, does and will keep doing aren't legal, but that doesn't matter if no one makes him stop, does it?

I am disgusted too about this, but I'll point out you have royalty on yours. This is however a trump challenge coin he settled for since they wouldn't put him on any real dollar bills and is not legal tender by law, they're just pretending it is illegally.

It depends on where in Europe. There are plenty of European republics that don’t have royalty.

Is it even legal tender? I thought you couldn’t have living people on currency?

Trump fanatics spend $61 on $25 worth of coins then go use them to support small local business owners whose politics they don't agree with? Love this journey for them.

OK, owning the lips by supporting their business is kind of a wild plan. Not so sure they thought that went through. But also to liberal coffee shop owners you should price your coffees so that you have to give them back like 18 or $.19 in pennies. And just tell them you’re out of dimes and nickels. Give them all your useless change.

Conservatives have some weird obsession with coffee and liberals. I don’t think I go one week without seeing a video of a conservative disgusted by mainstream coffee. It’s bizarre

If anyone spends a trump coin at a business they should call the cops for illegal currency, living presidents can’t be on legal tender lol

They are legal tender.
However, they cost about $2.44 for each $1 of legal tender. So spending them means you’re paying 2.44x the regular price.
And the coffee shop owner can probably eBay the coins for more than $1 each, because some MAGA will buy them.

What made this particular liberal's head explode was looking of the price of gold after finding out that each one of these coins contains "one ounce of .9999 fine 24-karat gold"
I'm sure that gold was bought from someone in Trump's orbit. Just another grift on the taxpayers.

It's made of brass, not gold. One ounce of gold would be valued in the $1000's

So give liberal shops business and money…? So now we’re doing the exact opposite of “go woke go broke”.
“Hey you hate trump heres some money! Checkmate liberals!”

The coin is legal tender with a value of $1. Rolls of the Trump dollar coin are available through the US Mint’s website. Rolls start at $61 for 25 coins.
This is so hilariously stupid, it’s hard to imagine it’s real and not a comedy script…but here we are.
Taking your $1 coin that you paid 6x the price for and then spending it for $1 is definitely going to make the liberal heads explode.

If you're spending $61 to get $25, the one being "owned" isn't the business you spend that $25 at.

u/jcomey 13h ago
So support local businesses run by people you despise because of symbolism. That'll send a message.

US Treasurer Brandon Beach has been a strong proponent of the coin for over a year, even as people pointed out that this breaks with the American tradition of not putting the face of living presidents on money
It's not a tradition, it's a law, hope that helps.
Honestly, legally, I think any merchant who receives these coins should refuse service since the coins themselves can't legally exist.

Republicans are the school bullies with the mentality of children. Good reason why they don’t amount to much.

So, some magat that would otherwise not go into one of these establishments is going in and spending money to “own the libs”? That’s MAGA math for you.

u/Solonohioperson 14h ago edited 14h ago
So the liberal coffee shop gets paid from all these Magas buying a lot of their products and Magas are out money but got some nice coffee and still can't afford gas and groceries? Sounds like a solid plan!
Oh it's not legal tender? So the liberal coffee shop can have them arrested for refusing to pay for their drink? Because you know they wouldn't pay for their cuppa and would keep thrusting trump coins at the barista.
13
u/6a6566663437 North Carolina 13h ago
It is legal tender. However, each coin costs about $2.50 while only being $1 of legal tender.
So they’re paying about 2 and a half times more for that coffee. While boosting that liberal coffee shop’s business.
And the shop owner can probably eBay the coins for more than $1, because some MAGA will buy them.

Only currency released by the U.S. treasury department is legal tender in the United States. Commemorative coins are not legal currency. This is a scam to convince Trump voters that buying more of these coins is somehow going to "Own theLiibs". They are paying real money to buy fake money. The only ones getting "owned" are the people who fall for the scam.
