This weekend I partook in photographing contestants in a unique hotdog-eating contest in which the contest was not who could eat the most hotdogs, but who had the best photo submission, depicting the eating of the hotdog.

This is a photo of Azie taken with an SX-70 camera and SX-70 film, along with a Mint flash bar.

Many moons ago I happened to have my trusty Polaroid Spectra on hand when I ran into some Ghostbusters!

If October isn't the month to share this, I don't know what is!

Photo Polaroid engineer Howard G. Rogers and his team posing with the 5,000 bottles of chemical compounds they tested to invent instant color film (1963)

Shot by Fritz Goro for LIFE magazine, this frame illustrates the trial-and-error scientific process behind consumer tech. Chief Chemist Howard G. Rogers spent years evaluating these 5,000 distinct liquid formulations before discovering the specific dye-developer molecule that made Polacolor instant film commercially possible in 1963.

Test run at tumalo Park bend Oregon after I type swapping it using the impossible drive! So far, I’m loving it! I haven’t gone in and removed the tongue yet so I’ve just been cutting off the little notch on the cartridges with a pocket knife lol (watch your fingers if you do this the wrong way like me!) also ordered some other goodies like a mint flash and a type R pcb, I can’t wait for it to come!

Gear Less than a dollar per frame

Alright, so some of it is a little expired, and the other has a short shelf life, but what better time to go on a Polaroid shooting spree? Picked these up at two different big box locations for about $150, less than a dollar per frame.

Check your local Wally Worlds I guess.

Finally getting around to scanning all my shots from this Summer. For anyone wondering, trying to keep film within a good temperature on the bike for multiple weeks is hard.

Question My Polaroid Sun 600 have a high pitch sound but it doesn’t take picture

I have a Polariod Sun600 just bought off the market. I used expired film pack for test. When I pressed the button, it has a high pitch sound and red light in the viewfinder but it doesn’t take or print film. Is this fixable and what can I do?

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your comment. I have play around and apparently there are separate button for using flash and normal shooting. While the flash is doesn’t change to green after charging for a long time, I can still shoot using normal ( which is great). I will get a new film pack to continue testing. Thank you all for reply.

Advice Just bought a Polaroid Now Gen 3 + film produced 11/25. Is it a "speedrun" situation or can I save a pack?

Post image

Hey everyone,

I literally just bought a brand new Polaroid Now Gen 3 today (October 18, 2026) along with a two-pack of film.

When I checked the box, the production date printed on the film is 11/25 (November 2025). If my math is right, that means this film is currently sitting right at about 11 months old.

I know Polaroid officially recommends shooting film within 12 months of production for the absolute best quality/colors. Since I have two packs, I was originally planning on pacing myself, but now I’m worried the chemistry is going to start turning sour or giving me crazy artifacts if I don't "speedrun" through all 16 shots right away.
