Meta Reminder: Please respect the subreddit rules

5 Upvotes

Hi all,

We have seen a massive influx of new members recently to our niche little subreddit, however mod actions have increased 300% this past week (yes 300%, prior week we removed 5 posts, this week 20.), all of which have been either form of a "Rate my team" (flagged as low effort) or a showcase of a completed play through.

Please ensure you familiarise yourself with our rules (https://reddit.com/r/pokemonteams/rules) to ensure your post meets our standards.

Quick reminder:

  • Team Building help posts, Draft league showcases etc. allowed
  • Low effort "rate this team" posts, "dream team" posts, rom hack/fangame posts not allowed.

Competitive Gen 8 Team For SV DLC

Post image
• Upvotes

I felt like getting back into pokemon SV recently and never played the DLC. This team is purely made for playing offline. Main goal is just for sweeping with lots of cover for super effective moves. What do you all think? What could be improved/changed? I am new to this, usually just play the games super casually but wanted to try make a really good team. Thank you!

Playthrough team help Dipping back into SoulSilver

3 Upvotes

Recently had a nostalgic urge to play through SoulSilver so bought a DS and booted it up.

I love big ‘monster’ like pokemon but still want to have a functional team so planning to have:

- Feraligatr
- Ampharos
- Crobat
- Nidoking
- Rhydon

Any thoughts on the 6th place spot in terms of being useful across the game?

Playthrough team help Team suggestions ZA

3 Upvotes

Thinking of breeding a team of shinys of mons I’ve never used to play through the game for fun.

Right now I’d say I’ve locked in meganium, pyroar, and starmie for a fire water grass core, but not sure after that.

Currently thinking mawile, abamasnow, steelix, grappaloct, elektross, noivern, sir fetch’d, glimmora, mimikyu, ceruledge

If it wasn’t clear they don’t need to be able to mega, but looking for suggestions

Playthrough team help Looking for Ultra Moon Team Member suggestions!

3 Upvotes

Hey, everyone! I'm feeling a playthrough of Ultra Moon coming on, and I'm looking for good suggestions for team members. My goal is to build something not unlike Cynthia's teams, super well rounded in stats, types, and aesthetics. I plan on starting with Primarina and I might actually use a Spiritomb I decided to breed a while back. I also tend to use Alolan Raichu, but I'm down for a little variety.

Quick note: Transferring Pokémon from other games is not an issue! Thank your in advance for your suggestions!

Other Help make a team

1 Upvotes

I’d would like some help with making a team. Main rules are no repeat types so if I have a grass pokemon I would not add another one and I want these 12 types specifically (Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Flying, Ground, Fairy, Steel, Dragon, Fighting, Ghost, Bug)

Other PokeFeed now has official Pokémon Champions tournament results

Hey everyone! A few months ago I posted here to introduce PokeFeed, a free site where you can share and vote Pokémon Champions teams. Now I want to give you an update on the latest feature I added.

There's a new section with official tournament results, covering Masters Day 2 teams.

What you can do with it:

  • Standings: the full Day 2 of each event with player, record and team. You can search by player, Pokémon, item, ability or move.
  • Usage: how much each Pokémon was used at that event and its most common sets. It also shows the change from the previous event (like +8%), and you can tick a move, item or ability to only see teams running it.
  • Snapshot: the most used Pokémon across the whole regulation, all events combined.
  • Team page: the full team with sets, a button to copy it in Showdown format, the same player's teams from other events, and similar teams that share the same core.

New events get added once they're finished.

Link: https://pokefeed.app/tournaments

Any feedback is really welcome. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to share it!

Playthrough team help Getting Back Into Pokemon After Being Out For Ages. Looking for Spoiler Free Tips/Resources Spoiler

2 Upvotes

So I haven't really played Pokemon in ages, since I was a little kid when red/blue/yellow came out. Also, at that age I wouldn't say I was really good and just took the moves that did damage and grinded until I was a high enough level to easily pass through the various levels without any strategy. I'd love to play violet with some real intention.and strategy but don't even know where to start. Some of my biggest questions are:

* What types of pokemon should I have on my team? Are there any pokemon types that are a must when exploring around to prevent huge type mismatches?

* How good does a non damaging move need to be to bother using in a fight?

* Are any of the stat increasing items (iron, calcium, etc) worth searching out for or do I just use them if I got them?

* Are rare candies bad for my pokemon?

* Are there any ways in game to learn how a Pokemon is going to involve? If I don't want to use a guide or wiki can I somehow find out that a certain Pokemon needs a trade or complicated stone evolution to evolve or do I just need to guess?

* Any other tips you have that I could use to explore without prior knowledge of the game (I'm looking for as few spoilers as possible).

Draft league teambuilding/demo Gen 9 National Dex Draft Team Help!

5 Upvotes

Alright guys, i'll take any and all advice for my National Dex (Gen9) Pokémon Showdown drafted team in terms of builds to prepare for and against.

SMALL NOTE - this wasn't a points based draft, and was a unique ban list with no teras, and typical national dex limitations.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my current team of 8 I have drafted:

Scizor, Great Tusk, Galarian Slowking, Kyurem, Ogerpon-Wellspring, Volcarona, Zapdos, and Mimikyu

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and these are the 3 others teams that i'll be fighting:

1 (nicknamed: "hotel room service")

* Maushold

* Garchomp

* Hatterene

* Okidogi

* Dragonite

* Serperior

* Torkoal

* Basculegion

2

* Ferrothorn

* Greninja

* Archaludon

* Tapu Koko

* Incineroar

* Tornadus-T

* Swampert

* Pelipper

3

* Kingambit

* Gholdengo

* Iron Valiant

* Urshifu-R

* Heatran

* Rotom-W

* Clefable

* Primarina

I'm fairly rusty when it comes to competitive pokemon, dabbling some in some back in sun and moon. I've been spamming videos from Pinkacross on youtube to catch up to the current meta.

I'm competent when it comes to the overall mechanics, but am looking for some advice on how to prepare for their builds, and some ways to build my team in order to win this thing.

There's $150 on the line that i'd like to win :)

Playthrough team help Non-competitive Pokemon Moon Team

2 Upvotes

I'm back again on this subreddit to ask for some help on my Pokemon Moon team. I've chosen Decidueye as my starter and I know I absolutely want Alolan Raichu on my team.

I've considered Salazzle and Alolan Ninetails, as they are both Pokemon I'd like to include, but they aren't integral to my playthrough enjoyment.

Every combination of mons I've tried has not turned out with the best type coverage, so if someone could give me some team member suggestions that would be much appreciated.

Playthrough team help Pokemon Violet Team for a Casual Player

1 Upvotes

I'm not all that interested in competitive Pokemon, other than the occasional battle against my friends, I stick to the main story and shiny hunting. Recently I started replaying Pokemon Violet, this time I wanted to go with Quaxly as my starter. I have a few other mons in mind for my team but after those I'm completely stumped on who to add. I'm absolutely keeping Quaquaval, Ceruledge, and Tinkaton. I could possibly compromise on Grafaiai, but I'd rather not have to. Could someone give me some pointers?

These screenshots were taken a little while after beating Volo and Giratina, then caught Giratina later on.

Funny thing about my Garchomp is when I was battling Giratina to catch it, I used Garchomp and accidentally one shot him then tried again and caught him first try

idk if this is really allowed in this subreddit but I’m just pray it is

competitive gen 9 (Gen 9 OU) Rate/fix my Kingambit team?

Post image
2 Upvotes

For the record, yes, I understand Kingambit is a good pokemon even by itself.

I've been wanting to make a Kingambit team for a while since I'm equally intrigued/pissed off by Supreme Emperor. I wanted to go a step further and create a team specifically designed to deal with Kingambit's counters so he wouldn't have any opposition when he finally gets to sworm. I know Kingambit is a good pokemon by itself and doesn't necessarily need an entire team built around it, but idk I thought it'd be fun to try lol

I scoured through not only Kingambit's strategy pages to get an idea of what to build, but also all of Bisharp's from Gens 5-9 just to cover all my bases, since they're already similar enough. I made a comprehensive list of every Pokémon that either pairs well with Kingambit, counters Kingambit, and the pokemon that counter those counters, and built a team off that. Results listed below;

Iron Treads: Was the most common request to deal with hazards and Hazard removal, also has fairly decent coverage for the rest of the team

Slowking-G: Had the 2nd most amount of appearances in the checks and counters of Bisharp's counters and also was among the pokemon that appeared most in Bisharp's team options. Was previously Slowbro but was swapped out in favor of Slowking-G

Iron Valiant: Had the highest number of appearances under team options \*and\* under the checks and counters of the mons that countered specifically Kingambit

Keldeo: Had the highest amount of times Bisharp appeared in the team options of a pokemon that paired well with Bisharp

Latios: Had the highest number of appearances across the checks and counters of every Pokémon that significantly countered Bisharp

Is this an ultimately ludicrous amount of reading and counting to do to make a Pokémon team? Most likely, but I'm a genetic freak and I'm not normal, so this shit is fun to me. However, I will acknowledge that I probably missed any gaping weaknesses the team may have in the process, so if anyone has any suggestions for what I might change about the team, do let me know.
