El Quinto Sol just crossed 65%! New mockups, collector rewards, and a little surprise! NSFW

Hey everyone!!

I just wanted to drop by with news: El Quinto Sol has crossed MX$200,000 on Kickstarter! El Quinto Sol is 67% funded with 167 backers and two weeks left to go!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has been following El Quinto Sol offering feedback and cheering El Quinto Sol on!

Quite a bit has changed since my post! El Quinto Sol has received mockups, improved international shipping and has completely reworked the rewards with new collector bundles and limited tiers featuring my original artwork and sketches, plus I added a bunch of new Add-ons.

Still a mountain to climb but El Quinto Sol is getting closer!!

Oh. There is a little bonus happening right now!

To celebrate, I have created two Cosmogonic Kaleidocycles, rotating paper sculptures inspired by M.C. Escher's tesselations, and mythology. I am giving away the printable designs and assembly instructions to backers for 48 hours until Tuesday, October 20 at 2 PM Mexico City time!

Existing backers are included too. Details are in the Kickstarter update!

Thanks again everyone! Lets get El Quinto Sol decks, across the finish line!!

P.S: I'me sharing some of my new mockup pictures with the final finishes, and the kaleidocycle bonus!

My setup from Odessa. Hit 95 decks today!

Hey guys! Just wanted to share a look at my current setup and display. Hit 95 decks today! To be honest, there is basically no playing card collecting or cardistry community here in Ukraine at all, so I don't have anyone locally to share this passion with. I built this entire collection in less than a year, and finally decided it’s time to show it to the global community. Hope you like it!

Posting a deck from my collection for the remainder of the month. Today's deck is the butterfly, with a grab of playing a solitaire game called 13 out. Yes I won and (surprisingly) no cats came and destroyed my board.

Ads Nepali themed deck I drew in Procreate, with Lakhey and Jhyalincha

I’m from Nepal, and cards are a huge part of Dashain and Tihar back home. Families get together and play for days, mostly teen patti, marriage and call break. I always wanted a deck that felt like Nepal, so I designed my own, and it’s finally printed.

I redesigned the suits. Diamonds are the Nepali flag, since the double pennant shape is already pretty close to a diamond. Clubs are the side of a madal, the drum you hear at every festival and wedding. Spades are two khukris (Nepali warrior knife) crossed over each other, and the hearts have a peacock inside them which symbolizes love.

I used Nepali kings, queens, and generals (jacks). I replaced jokers with Lakhey and Jhyalincha. Lakhey is a fierce, thunderous guardian demon who stamps through the streets to ward off evil spirits. Jhyalincha is a nimble, dragonfly-like boy who playfully taunts Lakhey to spark a high-energy chase for the crowd. I also used Nepali numbers from 2 to 10.

Since it’s my own deck, I’m using the Ads flair. It’s on Etsy here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4593058701/nepali-art-playing-cards-dashain-gift

One thing I’m unsure about is the kings, queens and generals are sketch style with no color filled in, and I left them that way on purpose, but I keep going back and forth. Do you think they’d look better with color, or does the sketched look work? Also, would you prefer english numbers instead of Nepali? I intend to use your suggestions for the next edition of the cards!

Cards naturally clicking/bending in box

I have been doing card magic for like 6 months, and I just recently moved to Santa Barbara near the beach so there is a lot more humidity. But before, I would get maybe 2 weeks of use out of a deck before I moved. But now I get 2 days before it is fully clicked and unusable. Is there any way to preserve the decks I'm not entirely sure what it is doing this to my cards. I have tried using faros and they haven't really worked. What can I do to get more use out of these decks?

Question What's a good website to get a single order with as much variety as possible?

Hello everyone, for a bit of context why I ask this, I live in Mexico and it's a bit harder to get a good variety of options here, but I have a friend who lives in the US that comes once a year and is coming next month.

I only ordered cards online once some years ago, it was through him ofc, maybe around 20 decks from theory's 11 official website, half of them were for gifts and the rest for myself, and while I like them a lot, I want to get more good decks from different brands.

So yeah, if I'm gonna bother my friend one more time to make another purchase I want it to be from ONE website only like last time but with more options.

Only website I've looked into is called "rareplayingcards.com" but I don't know if it's good or if anyone here can provide some better options. Thanks in advance.

What could have been the reason??

Bought it from a place, opened them after few weeks to find them at this condition.

They were sealed and in a cello wrap.

Posting a deck from my collection everyday for the rest of the month. I'm posting 3 this time because I missed another day yesterday and will likely miss Monday as well. That gives me a chance to show off all my cat decks ^.^

The Hello Kitty and Cartoon Cats both lack a blank card for me to show off the backs, and they have embellishments on the number cards (the HK number cards don't all have that), so I played a little bit of spider solitaire to show them off a bit (no I did not win that hand).

The black cat pictured is Newt, he's my roommate's. I have 4 but he's not one of them.

Hi! I'm designing my first custom deck of cards. What do you guys think about the concept? Mythical creatures from a dark forest. Vampires, ghosts, elves, and other dark legends!

I used to kinda be into collecting. All started because I LOVE to play cards. Started buying decks here and there and treating myself, then just stopped, but was able to get a decent little pile I guess.

New to the sub and half considering getting back into it. Maybe read the sell rules. Who even knows. At the least buy a cool new one to play with as I have def seen some reallllly cool ones.

Anywho…. Here is the stash.

I noticed on this Dutch card that the hands are purple, and I didn't find this on the other cards. What does this mean? Is it a printing error or a design feature?

Ads I Got tired of keeping 300+ decks locked away in dark bins, so I built a digital cabinet to display them

Every collector hits that point where you look at hundreds of decks tucked away inside carat cases or cardboard boxes and realize nobody, not even you, gets to actually appreciate the print work.

Most deck trackers out there are fine for inventory (if they stay around 🙄), but they feel like managing a warehouse spreadsheet. I wanted something with the atmosphere of an old wunderkammer (or cabinet of curiosities) from a parlor or an antique curiosity shop. So over the last few months I built https://cards.exomagic.com 🪄

Uniquely housing my 300+ deck collection with a bit of flare. Lift each deck off the shelf and take a closer look at the tuck or card-back if I've added it. The archive spans about twenty years of collecting. Everything from mid-2000s Ohio-pressed classics (Brown Wynns, RJRTC Watermelon Bees, 2008 Split Spades Lions) to newer Stockholm17, KWP, and weird Fontaine runs.

I also built in a "Secret Drawer" that deals you a random deck when you pull the handle (for when you’re indecisive), and a little fanning studio tool so you can preview what back patterns look like spread out.

Zero ads, no store, no newsletter popups, nothing for sale. Just an obsessive passion project made for people who appreciate tuck design and card history.

Pull the drawer handle and let me know if it deals you anything you have sitting on your own shelf.
