Vintage 18ct Yellow Gold & Palladium-Platinum
18ct stamped pall platinum weighs around 2.55 grams. I believe it’s from the 1930s. Just wondering what’s it worth

Today Mail Call 2026 1/10th oz
Each year I try to pick up the 1/10 oz for that year. It makes it easy since only a few mints make them. Would love to see the Canada and US Mints make this size again.

Platinum Purchases in California — tax exempt if over $2k?
Does anyone know the tax exemption rules for purchases of platinum in California?
I know for gold and silver specifically, a purchase of over $2,000 in one single transaction exempts the purchaser from paying California sales tax.
The rule is more ambiguous for other precious metals though. It says it covers monetized bullion (which is a government-minted legal tender coin), and the coin I am looking to purchase falls under that category/designation — it is a 1 oz platinum panda coin issued by the People’s Republic of China.
eBay has automatically added sales tax based on how the item itself was categorized by the seller. Would this be correct? Or am I exempt from paying sales tax based on the type of coin I’m purchasing?
Any advice and insight would be greatly appreciated!

Platinum doing better than Gold Silver
During this precious metals sell off it looks like Platinum is holding its ground much better than Gold/Silver?
r/Platinum • u/SpaceLordSexGod • 9d ago
8 million ounces
That’s the amount of above ground .999 platinum. Tangible and twice as rare as Btc. 🤔

Platinum Noble’s vs other platinum
What is this sub’s opinion on platinum nobles compared to other forms of platinum such as maples or bars?

What's your strategy for owning platinum in your metals portfolio?
I was surprised to find this sub, as I hadn't given much thought to holding platinum, besides a few grams on my wife's engagement ring and a few gram bars at the most.
So I was wondering if someone out there stacks only platinum, if someone stacks against a gold ratio like the silver guys, or if someone trades it.
I find platinum to be very interesting, however there's not a lot of market or interest for it where I live, looks a lot like silver to me and I still prefer white gold over it. But maybe I'm missing out I guess, everyone knows it has been more expensive than gold, sometimes a lot cheaper, so a little volatile for strict wealth preservation maybe.
What am I missing? Thanks a lot for the input guys, really interesting community this is, can't wait to scroll through the pics of your stashes.

Would tokenization make platinum easier to own, or just add risk?
Platinum seems harder for small investors to buy than gold or silver. The premiums can be high and there is less choice, so a token backed by vaulted metal sounds useful on paper.
But it also means trusting the issuer, the vault, the audits and the redemption process.
Would easier access be worth that extra layer, or would you rather hold the metal or an ETF?

What's a reasonable premium you should pay for basic 1/4oz plat coins?
Hello, I'm looking to diversify my stack and want to start buying platinum, I usually buy everything off PMsforsale but platinum is rarely posted (though I'm sure I can get some if I post a WTB) but before I do what's a reasonable price point nowadays? I always try to buy as close to spot as possible for all my PMs. I just have been reading that you should expect to pay higher premiums!

Gold, silver or platinum
I was checking these commodities after a while, and they seem to hv really slowed down, the trends dont seem volatile anymore to me.
I was still thinking of investing some amounts to platinum, what do u guys suggest?
Whats the upside potential on it and details to educate me

My first piece of Platinum
Picked this up at my LCS today, always wanted some, traded an ounce of silver, plus $20. 1972 Franklin Mint Journey for Peace 1.3 gram Platinum round. Coin shop warned me about Franklin mint. But does that really matter when it comes to their pure platinum products? I just got it because it was of the small entry point to a new precious metal I’ve always wanted. Thoughts?

I truly love platinum and will keep buying while the price is below spot gold

[question]/S why are we calling platinum “the rich man’s gold” if gold is almost 150% more expensive? Is it some type of running joke in the sub? I’ve seen other subs call it that too when it comes to jewelry so I’m not sure.

🪙 $5,375 Engelhard - 3x 1oz Platinum Beauties
LOVEEEE The vintage
🪙 Three ounces of Engelhard platinum, 999.5 fine, all still sealed. Platinum is around $1,775 this morning, September 17, 2026, so about $5,300 in metal.
🇺🇸 These are my favorite platinum pieces. Something about the flag card and the staples and the certificate number printed right on the front. It looks like it came from a company that expected to be around forever.
