discussion Helixes are much more popular than flats-why?

I see a ton of helixes (a helix seems to be the ‘gateway’ cartilage ear piercing!) but far fewer flats.

Was just wondering why that might be? AFAIK helixes don’t heal any easier.

Is it maybe because lots of people want to wear hoops and you can’t wear one with a flat? A general aesthetic trend?

Interested to hear any thoughts 🙂

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Daith Piercing

Feeling sad. I had to temporarily retire my daith over the weekend.

I had it pierced in February, with a 16gauge white gold piece. I questioned the clicker/hinge, but was told since the ring had a varying depth, the seam couldn't pass thru the piercing hole.

No major issues besides an irritation bump that lasted maybe all of a week. But then I started to feel like it was weighing heavy on the upper portion of my ear. I had it looked at several times by my pierced, reassured that everything was healing fine. But it still felt heavy, so in September we changed to a titanium CBR.

I feel like I might have waited too long to advocate for myself, because barely a month later it was starting to visable tear, and I had it taken out.

My piercer is confident that we can repierce in a few months after it heals, going with a bigger gage and larger diameter ring. But I'm still sad right now.

But then I'm also debating if this is just a sign to get my 3rds and conch done while I wait.

Pictures are from when it was first done, changed to CBR, and taken out.

The piercer wasn’t able to put it through the first time so he repierced it and it ended up looking like this. Not sure if this will cause issues in the future too.

Genital/nipple piercings piercing bump or is it infected? what do I do? NSFW

so I've had my nipples pierced for just over a year now (titanium bar 14g) and one day all of a sudden my right nipple had a small piercing bump developing. I applied warm compress twice a day and sprayed with protolind saline spray twice a day and it shrank but didn't go away. then it got inflamed again and just kept getting bigger, filled with blood and pus and clearly the bar was way too tight so I swapped to a longer one. is this one too long? I won't be keeping this super long bar in its just while it's swollen and stuff and I am getting a more suitably sized bar to put in when it's calmed down.

I don't think it's infected because I've had an infected piercing before and it felt way worse than this and I've seen my piercer who said its more likely a bump that couldn't heal because my bar was too short but obviously with it being my nipple I'm really worried. I think it only got as bad as it did because the bar was so tight but please any advice is appreciated id like to get rid of the bump.

Genital/nipple piercings Is my nipple pierced right? NSFW

Post image
24 Upvotes

EDIT: I’ve gotten them pierced yesterday so swelling is still there

So my left nipple is rather asymmetrical/uneven (?), one side of it is slanted abit, whereas my right nipple is more even.

Just wanted to know if the placement for my left nipple actually correct and located at the base of the nipple? It’s abit difficult to tell due to the asymmetry and I’m afraid that it might’ve been pierced through my areola (but I don’t reallly think so)

discussion My Experience and Reflection on Forward Paired Brows

Thumbnail

Hi all!

About a week ago I retired my forward paired brows and want to go over what my experience was and what I would do differently moving forward.

I did leave these in a bit longer then I would rec anyone else to but I wanted to share as I didn't have much information on this unique placement and want to provide the resource to others.

I am not a piercer

My experience:

Throughout every stage these were a difficult heal, constantly irritated never really settled and even with proper aftercare rarely behaved.

I don't regret having these done and will have them redone but differently.

Key take-aways:

I would personally recommend having these done more at a vertical angle, I think what really messed me up here is how angled they were. It feels like they went along a spot where a surface bar might have been more successful (I will NOT be experimenting with a surface bar in this location)

I would rec as soon as you see drastic movement to take these out, I waited a bit longer to see their progress of rejection and how that looks at this angle.

surface piercings Why is my belly piercing scabbing?

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

I just wanted to show what my piercing looked like at week 1 til now at month 3. It suddenly started scabbing during the 3 month mark and oozing a yellow liquid in the last pic. Has this happened to anyone and is this an infection? I booked a doctors appointment just in case.

The jewelry is also titanium and I don't wear high waisted clothes.

Thanks!

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Any chance this 1.5 y.o. rook orbital will heal?

Post image
• Upvotes

Reposting as I didn't respond to the bot in time.

I had my rook and forward helix pierced late winter/ early spring of last year. The piercer is an APP member and wanted to pierce and heal them as an orbital since that was my goal. He adjusted the forward helix a month after it was initially pierced because it was putting pressure on the area a daith piercing would go, but after that my forward helix healed fine. The ring is implant grade titanium. I run warm water over it in the shower, spray with saline, and occasionally use hot compresses to try and drain the piercing bump, but it doesn't go away. Does it just need more time?

Set up advice Ear stack plan thoughts?

Thumbnail

My local piercing shop is having a sale for their 10-year anniversary, and it's gotten me thinking about planning out my stacks and future piercings.

What do y'all think of my plan? I'm not going for super cluttered, I like a lot of negative space and balance. Plus I like the idea of having different piercings on each ear, so not duplicating piercings.

I worry my right ear plan is too bottom-heavy currently, but I don't know how to bring more visual weight to the top with my industrial already being there :/

I would also love to know which piercing should be my immediate next one, since the sale is only going o this week and I worry about getting more than one or maybe two at a time.

Thanks in advance for the advice! :)

Set up advice Need help with no-piercing policy at a new job.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I've been working in the food service industry for a while now, but my new job is by far the most strict about piercings I've had. When I was hired, I was told off-the-record that retainers are probably alright as long as they look pretty natural, so I just wanted to ask for advice about my setup, and brands for retainers.

I have:

a septum

- I'm not too worried about this one, I know they're super easy to hide with a decent retainer.

a 10 week old bridge

- I'm mostly worried about this one because I think a retainer would be pretty visible

a 2 year old vertical labret

- I'm pretty sure I can just take it out for work, but I'd love to hear people's thoughts about that.

5 year old lobes

- I'm not worried about these at all

10 month old double lobes

- I'm sure I can find a retainer for them.

If anyone has had similar experiences, please let me know what resources you've found to help with this sort of thing. Thanks again for any advice!

Question about a piercing I (maybe) want is a bridge piercing worth it?

i’ve been thinking about possibly getting my bridge pierced i hate to say it but i’ve always really liked the way they look and if i have the anatomy for it i’d be thrilled to get it done! but i don’t know if it’d be worth it. i haven’t looked in the healing process and all those fun things yet but it seems like a painful spot to get pierced!! i have 11 piercings as of right now and none of them have hurt too bad. i have my septum, nostril, eyebrow, tongue, industrial, earlobes 1st and 2nds and my nipples. if anyone has a bridge or had one let me know please! i also wanna know if i take it out is the scar going to be bad? thank you!!

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Is my belly piercing rejecting? NSFW

Everything was ok for two months, and went downhill during month 3. It started acting up by oozing yellow liquid and having this open wound.

It's now 3.5 months old and the material of the bar is titanium. I also clean it once-twice a day with saline spray depending on how irritated it is. Max is two sprays per day. I also don't wear high waisted pants, and it doesn't hurt or feel hot, just feels like an open wound when I spray it sometimes.

Please let me know your thoughts, thanks!

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing What's wrong with my piercing??

Post image

Got my snake bites done about three and a half weeks ago, got them downsized about a week ago. the other side is having zero issues and neither side hurts, until now, they have seemingly been healing very well. Screws, externally threaded, I don't know the material, probably titanium. I don't have much of an after care routine, I just rinse after eating and have been trying to brush my teeth more (I'm autistic and have sensory issues with brushing, I'm getting better tho!) I should also add that I smoke weed, but not nicotine or tobacco of any sort, I dunno if that changes anything

Genital/nipple piercings Nipple piercings at 16? NSFW

• Upvotes

Hey so I’m turning 16 in a couple months and I’ve been wanting nipple piercings for a few years. I want to get them for my sixteenth bday but idk if they allow it even with parent consent? I know for females they mainly don’t because it can be seen as “predatory” but I’m a male so is it any different?
