Meta Affiliate Link Ban

Starting today, affiliate links are banned. Comments containing them will be automatically removed. The decision to allow them was made back when this was a tiny sub; we've since ballooned in size, there's been a noticeable uptick in users posting affiliate links (and in mass amounts, at that), and the rule was always on shaky ground due to both arbitrary enforcement (what dictates a "worthy" comment vs. a comment fishing for affiliate money?) and general principle.

If you've posted affiliate links in the past, you're not in trouble retroactively or otherwise. Comments containing affiliate links should, from now on, be automatically removed; no other action will be taken beyond automatic comment removal unless absolutely necessary.

China Not happy with my new TCL Nxtpaper 70 Pro

I recently got it because my old phone (Pixel 7a) has a swollen battery. One of the main things I didn't like about my Pixel, was how quickly it gave me eye strain. I don't know what caused it, but after doing some research about eye comfort, I got the Nxtpaper.

I'm not happy with it because it takes forever to charge. I tried multiple chargers, and never had issues with these chargers before. At 13:00 it was 10%, and now (almost 16:00) it's at 58%.

It also has soooo much bloatware. I knew it would have, but I didn't expect it to be THIS much.

Something that mildly annoys me is that I can't find accessories for it unless I buy from shein, temu or dropshippers.

I don't care about the quality of the camera or how the phone looks. I just want to be able to use it comfortably and safely for at least 3 years.

I live in the Netherlands.

Good Cheap Android Phones

Hello!

I wanted to make a post because this has been on my mind, and I'm not sure if it's just me with rose tinted glasses. A few months ago I moved from a Pixel 6 to a Moto G Stylus. I wanted something with expandable storage (part of the reason I moved away from my Pixel 6 is because I ran out of storage), and I didn't have a lot of money to get an expensive phone. While I overall liked the Moto G, I did notice it was slower and laggier than my Pixel 6, which at this point was released 5 years ago. I accidentally dropped my Motorola, shattering the screen, and so have moved back to my Pixel 6. It's still going great, however the charging port port doesn't hold wires anymore, so charging is iffy.

With this, I've started thinking about what to do if my Pixel 6 just stops charging. When I was first getting into smartphones, I remember phones like the Nexus 5, or OnePlus 3T which were about $300 phones but could keep up or outperform the much more expensive iPhones at the time. Do those sort of phones still exist? I get with inflation $300 may be too cheap now, but I'm just not aware of really good but affordable phones.

Portugal Questions about the Vivo V70 in Portugal (Focus and Video under artificial light)

Hi everyone! I am considering buying the Vivo V70, but I would like to gather some opinions from people who already own it and use it in Portugal.

I've been reading some reviews and user reports (especially on forums) mentioning minor focus-hunting issues in certain situations, as well as some problems with video recording under artificial lighting (flicker).

Is anyone here using this phone and can confirm if these focus and video issues are real in daily use, or if they have been fixed with updates?

Thanks for the help!

help me choose between s25 and s26 fe

Im getting the S25 and S26 FE for the same price, around 55k INR

S25 12gb 128gb

s26 fe 8gb 128gb

Im looking for camera performance , and better durability in the long term.

the camera specs and snapdragon, also 4gb ram more look better in s25 but its almost 1.5 years older

the s26 has newer software and ai features, but 8gb ram, and the data transfer capped to usb 2.0 should be noted .

help me decide

Poland help me choose a phone

so i was recommended motorola 70 edge and oppo reno 15 fs. both were said to be very solid phones for their price. ive heard motorola has a way better processor, but has weak battery compared to oppo. so how's it, which one would be generally better to buy?

i use my phone for music, daily normal use like texting and checking information, occasional rpg gaming, and during trips i tend to take a lot of photos during the day and check gps so i suppose battery would be important

thanks in advance (my country is Poland)

US Buying my first decent phone need advice.

I live in the US, budget is flexible but really don't want to spend over 1k if possible. Not interested in a Chinese brand phone unless I can't find any other options.

Currently using an old Motorola g stylus from 2021. I like the size and battery life but I mostly use it for games and it's pretty weak, can't do 3d games at all.
Wanting to upgrade but even after doing tons of research I just keep going back and forth. Feels like every phone has some deal breaker.

My father used Samsungs and always liked them. I looked at the S25 Ultra and the S26 lineup in particular but things like a green line, battery quickly draining/heating up/bursting/exploding worry me. I know that every product has its quality issues and I'm sure the vast majority of users don't experience problems but this is an investment for me. I can't afford to buy again in a year or two I need to make it last at least 4 or 5 years.

Also reviews are all over the place. Some say it stays cool while gaming others say it turns into lava in 30 minutes and shuts down. Others say the phone lasts all day others say you'll drain the whole battery just playing games for a few hours. It's just so hard to figure out what to believe.

The other phone I was considering was the upcoming Motorola Signature 27. Mostly because I'm already used to Motorola and its coming with the newest chip so figured it would be pretty good for games. Seems to have a bigger battery too.
But I see people complaining about software and updates for Motorola phones but I don't really get that either. Nothing on my current phone that hasn't updated in years has stopped working. If I'm not working for some elite corporation or the government do I really need constant updates?

There's also those gaming phones like the red magic but people say they fall apart after a couple of years and it feels like I'm sacrificing too much just to focus on one thing.

Right now I am leaning towards the S25 Ultra or S26 Ultra but I'm really not confident in my choice. The more time I spend researching the more issues I find with every single phone including those two. No one seems happy with what they have. There's just too many options and I have no idea what to do. Any advice would be appreciated.

Germany Looking for the best phone up to 200€

I'm in Germany and looking for a good phone priced up to 200€. My main criteria are a good processor and smooth performance without stuttering. While good cameras would be nice, they're not absolutely essential; an okay camera setup is acceptable.

If there's a phone, if I put an extra 50€ on the budget and it's much better I would do it.

Edit:

Got an Poco M8 Pro 5G for 279,99€

Nothing Phone (3a) vs alternatives under ₹25k — Need advice!

I'm looking for a phone under ₹25k and currently considering the Nothing Phone (3a).

My priorities are UI, camera, everyday performance, and long-term reliability. Im also not a gaming hardcore player, so gaming isn't a major concern.

TL;DR: Is the Nothing Phone (3a) worth buying under ₹25k, or are there better options? Would appreciate advice from actual users!

Looking to replace my secondary phone

Had a Galaxy Note 9 Exynos which I bought when it was available in my country (7-8 years), been using it as a secondary phone ever since. Then I put LineageOS on it and it's still going to this day but it's definitely showing its age in more ways than one.

I want something compact, not too expensive, will get at least 4 years of software updates. Priorities from high to low: Battery life, good software (closest to stock Android), performance (not too high performance; don't game on this phone), cameras (not a camera guy).

Thinking about either Nothing Phone (4a) Pro or Pixel 10a, but want your thoughts!

S23 Ultra vs Z Fold8

I’ve been using my S23 Ultra for over 2 years and I’m still really happy with it. Recently I won a Z Fold8 in a contest. This is actually my second Fold8: I won one earlier this year too, sold it sealed, and honestly regretted never even trying it. Now I have another chance, and I can’t decide whether to switch or sell it again.

What I’d miss from the S23 Ultra: I use the S Pen a lot, and I know the Fold8 doesn’t support it. I’m also a bit worried about the crease, dust getting into the hinge, and the extra weight.

What draws me to the Fold: watching series and football on the big screen while commuting, multitasking, and the camera.

For those of you using the Fold8:

  1. Did you miss the S Pen if you came from an Ultra?
  2. How has the hinge and the inner screen held up after a few months?
  3. Is the weight or thickness noticeable day to day?
  4. If you were in my shoes, would you open it or sell it sealed?

Thanks in advance!
