Any dating advice for an early 30's single male?

I've just found the apps to be so frustrating. I'm conventionally attractive, tall, have an okay job, and I do all the necessary things to make my profile presentable and inviting.

But, I still just don't get any interesting matches or responses to the initial questions I usually ask about them when I do match with someone. I can't help but feel unfairly judged and assumed about.

I'm more than happy to put the blame on myself if that is indeed the cause of these lackluster results. But, I really just feel like I'm doing everything right.

Is there anything that's worked for y'all?

Police at 7th and Bainbridge?

Just got passed by a “Domestic Terrorism” Philadelphia police van on 7th street. At the next intersection there were approximately 10 officers standing around discussing (shirt color, pants, etc). There were about 4 police SUVs and cruisers too. Any idea what’s going on?

Pharmacy recommendations?

• Upvotes

Just moved to Philly area from North Jersey, and looking for a pharmacy over the border in South Jersey that would have Adderall XR and IR in stock, as my doctor can only prescribe in Jersey. Any recommendations? So far no luck with any that I’ve called.

30s Transplants: How did you find your people?

I posted here earlier this year that I was considering moving to Philly by myself. Im 33M and have scoped out some neighborhoods I like (East falls, wissahickon, Mt. Airy - mainly the NW). Before I go for it, I want to be sure I have some good pathways to meet people and build community. I know doing that over 30 is harder than in ones 20s, so Id like to hear some success stories for how you approached it (what didn't work helps too!)

I like music/going to concerts (mostly alt/indie), casual group sports (stuff like pickleball), long walks through the city or hikes somewhere like the wissahickon, good food and drink. Id also be open to hobby clubs, adult education, or volunteering.

I've browsed some of the leagues and pickup events on Heyday athletics. And Ive perused joinphilly and see some interesting groups there. Are those good for folks in their 30s or are they more geared toward fresh college grads? Any other suggestions for where to get started?

Help getting prozac in CC

Does anyone know how or where in center city I can get a prescription for prozac? The public health place I used to go to got shut down unexpectedly because the doctor that ran it retired and it nobody else had the needed certifications. Please don't tell me "do a Google search" or something like that because unless I'm given proper guidance, I'm not trying to exacerbate emotions in myself or others. Thanks for your attention.

Urbex in Philly

Hey I’m looking for cool places to explore in Philly similar to the Graffiti Bridge. I went a few nights ago and it was really fun and I’d like to do it again. I’m still pretty new to this so I’d love some suggestions.

Looks like the French protests have spread to the US…specifically in Philly

I am a student in Philly. I walked into my class this mornin and saw this, and took the following photo. My teacher has 3 classes for the day; mine, and 2 others later in the day, and they usually let students doodle on the board, but this was NOT here when I was in class yesterday, so I’m assuming it was drawn later in the day. But I find it interesting how somebody made a little graffiti drawing of some sort about what’s goin on in France. Also, can someone translate the saying next to the French character!?!? I have no French knowledge.

GOP-led House committee accuses Philly schools of teaching students to ‘hate Israel,’ and ‘embrace radical’ ideas — Superintendent Tony B. Watlington Sr. testified before the committee in September after reports of antisemitism surfaced.

the king of prussia

I went to grad school in Philadelphia. When I got there i decided to read the Philadelphia Inquirer to get a 'feel' for the city. In the editorial page was a letter that I thought was pretty unhinged. When I saw under his name 'King of Prussia' I thought Wow, they published a letter from someone who thought they were the king of Prussia. Later I found out that King of Prussia is a suburb of Philadelphia. Uff.

Bell to Bell Ban makes me nervous

I have teens in public high schools and they both have cell phones. They can’t look at their phones during class, probably do during lunch, and have never had an issue around this. I can locate them with Find My as well as leave them messages - eg. don’t forget this errand, love you, etc. - that they will see when they can.

This ban seems misdirected for the problem. Also, the speed at which it was completed angers me since we are waiting forever on other reforms to help education and students.

Am I not understanding this? Am I more of a helicopter mom than I thought?

Biker hit by Septa bus 27 tonight around 8pm

I was on the 27 bus tonight when the driver hit a man on a city bike. Man appeared to be ok. No visible blood and was standing after being hit while talking to bystanders and medics. He was refusing help and did not want to be taken to the hospital.

Hi Philly! My name is Jackson Harden and I’m a touring indie folk artist from North Carolina. I’m coming through and playing Philly tonight (10/23) with some other great folk artists for a secret house show. Would love to see you there!

Any Madridistas, Culers, or La Liga fans in Philly?

• Upvotes

I began watching soccer for the first time in my life earlier this year, following Real Madrid back in the spring as they ended their prior season in downtrodden fashion. Fast forward to the World Cup this summer, and I became even more entranced by the sport, following all the club’s individual players and loving every moment of the action.

Now, this weekend, one of the most anticipated matchups - El Clásico - is occurring on Sunday. I wanted to see if there are any Madrid or Barca fans congregating somewhere to watch? I know there are plenty of dedicated EPL bars / supporters clubs in the city, but I haven’t seen anything explicitly devoted to La Liga clubs. Would love to get together with fans of either club (or fans of other La Liga clubs) and watch somewhere, rather than streaming from my apartment. Thanks!

If you stole a package off a doorstep and you open it and it's something you don't want, what would you do with it?

I had a package stolen off of my doorstep today. It was a bridesmaid dress for a wedding happening in 3 weeks. To be clear I am not expecting to actually find this package back. But also, it was a custom sized dress. Whoever took it is going to find that it likely won't fit their measurements, and being custom fit it's unlikely to fit most people except myself. What are they even going to do with the dress???

Anyway if you live near poplar and 19th and have a ring camera that might have seen someone walking around with an azazie box between noon and 6 today (10/22) let me know. I just want to be able to prove it was stolen to the carrier so I can get a refund or replacement.

West Philly residents: I'd love your input on a community resource project!

Hi everyone! I'm a student at Drexel University working on a project called TownSquare, and I'm hoping to get input from people in West Philadelphia and the surrounding community.

There are already great resources out there, like Findhelp and Philly 211, that help people find local services. However, finding the right resource can still mean navigating multiple websites and organizations, and not everyone has reliable internet access or feels comfortable searching online.

Town Square aims to build on existing resources by making the process more streamlined, accessible, and community-driven. The idea is to bring free and low-cost community resources into one easy-to-use directory, with features like:

  • Printable resource sheets that libraries, hospitals, community centers, and other shared spaces could provide to visitors.
  • Community alerts and updates to help people stay informed about new resources, events, changes, and availability.
  • Ratings and reviews that let community members share their experiences and help others know what to expect.
  • Community-confirmed information so users and participating organizations can help keep resource listings accurate and up to date.

I'm still in the early stages of developing the idea, and I want to understand what would actually be useful to the people who might use it. I'm especially interested in learning how people currently find resources, what challenges they encounter, and which features would make finding and accessing resources easier.

If you're familiar with West Philly or local community resources, I'd really appreciate it if you could take my short survey!

Survey: https://forms.gle/s8ModiSSpKH53G6t6

The survey also includes an optional opportunity to express interest in a future user interview or providing additional feedback. Any contact information that is shared will only be used to schedule follow up interviews and not shared anywhere else.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! I'd love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, or experiences finding local resources in the comments, too.

Privacy note: Survey responses will be used internally for Town Square's product research and development. Responses will not be publicly shared or distributed to other organizations, and the information will not be used for purposes outside this project.

How did the encounter play out? Was just curious because I saw documentaries about these 2 dwellers in our fair city.
