I’m a huge Genesis and Peter Gabriel fan, and being born in the early 90s, he’s been legendary basically my entire life.

But aside from So and a few other hits like Solsbury Hill and maybe Games Without Frontiers or Shock The Monkey, I feel like most of his music isn’t super popular or accessible. I mean Melt is my favorite record and it opens with Intruder, which isn’t your average persons fare.

And most people only know Genesis’s later commercial stuff, unless you’re a musician or prog rock fan.

So I’m curious what his reputation was like prior to releasing So and becoming the megastar that he became?

I’m just listening to Melt and can picture a scenario where by the time he’s making his 4th and 5th albums his manager is like “Peter we need a hit” lol. Like if he had gone the route of not releasing a pop record when he did that we may not know him for the musician he is, but that he’d be a more obscure musician.

I first became intrigued with his "So" album. I then went back and loved his earlier music.

Based on the music in the Instagram post, it seems this may be some slowed down PG music, similar to the Full Stretch music PG created some time ago, and more recently released for Bandcamp subscribers.

Now, how do you figure an 11-minute film has 21 minutes of music?

Was wondering if there’s been any good stories and info bits not already heard elsewhere so far? For those who did go. I would have liked to go (but have other commitments) and know quite a bit about the So album itself, so would be curious. thank you!

I just realized, by switching from one mix to another, that the tonality does seem different between the two versions! Quite weird. I think it's the only instance of this happening in i/o or o/i so far

It was nice to get the bright side mix of the latest track today, as I actually prefer it, but it has now been 70 days since we got the last BandCamp exclusive track. On 9/30, Christian on the Genesis News forums said the missing demos would be out “in a few days or so”… and still nothing.

I know PG isn’t one to be rushed, but I’ve really got to wonder what is keeping the team behind the BandCamp so busy that we are this far behind. I really hope we get something soon… that’s 2 months of paying for the BandCamp subscription without the perks :(
