We recently added a new Wiki page about Padel Academies, Clubs and Destinations, starting with a list of community-recommended academies and clubs in Spain:
https://sh.reddit.com/r/padel/wiki/padel-academies-and-destinations/
The page includes a small list by region plus advice on organizing training yourself, expected price range and things to keep in mind when contacting Spanish clubs directly.
Spain is one of the most popular destinations for padel training and there are many different ways to do it.
You are welcome to share your experiences with academies and clubs in the comments. Did you book a full academy package, contact a club directly, travel alone or with a group, or try a more expensive academy. What was your experience like?
This is for player experiences and community recommendations only. You are welcome to link to recommended academies and clubs including trainers names.
Please do not post individual trainers social media accounts, direct phone numbers, travel agencies, accommodation-only recommendations or any other self-promotion.

Happy World Padel Day! 🎉
Having my first open match in two days. I would consider myself an intermediate player. Just wanted to ask what are the main things i should know for a competitive match to not look like a proper beginner.
Hey guys,
I'm heading to Mallorca in November and will be staying on the east coast. I'd love to play some padel while I'm there, but I have no idea what the padel scene is like.
Does anyone know some good clubs around there? Ideally somewhere that's not too expensive and maybe offers group training or lessons as well.
Also wondering how easy it is to find people to play with. Are there any WhatsApp groups or local communities?
And if anyone here lives in Mallorca or happens to be there in November, I'd be up for a few games!
Any tips or personal experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

I (31M) don't know what to do to progress.
I have never practiced any sport regularly since I was born. I started playing padel during summer 25. Took group training for 3 "seasons" (3x 10 training sessions). Now, I try to focus more on playing matches and playing minimum once a week (even though I consider myself a beginner).
However, I feel like I barely progress: I destroy true beginners. But,when I play against new players with more than 15 matches, I'm not at the same level... They already have a good net level and good smashes, and I still struggle at the net... I can defend even some smashes, but I make the majority of the lost points.
I really don't know what to do to progress as I still consider myself to be at the beginner's level even after all that training sessions and matches I took... Meanwhile, last week, I played with a dude who did a PAR 3 on his first ever match...

Have you guys here felt bored while doing agility drills? If so, why do you feel bored?
Does anyone know the title of the song played at players entrance? I heard it both at Milan P1 last year and Rome this year. Epic cinematic with violins. Hope anyone has it!!

Hopefully this will help someone else but I’m trying to drill footwork at home. Backhand is more natural however I just can’t get my flat forehand to feel as fluid. I’m trying to set cues to check my form so I can call them out loud as I do the motion. Building to it becoming natural.
Can anyone spell this out for me or link to a great guide or video that explains this well. I’ve watched countless videos but none seem to give me what I’m after.
PS. I know you can’t beat coaching or lessons however in my area it tends to be PT’s who are diversifying in to Padel to earn more £ rather than be any good.

Grabbed the top 14 players and set them up semi-randomly.
Where are you seating and why? Where would you NOT sit even if it meant getting an upgrade to business class?

Just saw the Milan p1 semi finals, at this point i wouldn't be surprised if Chingotto decided to split with Galan! He used to be the captain for this partnership and never surrendered, but lately it seems that chingo doesn't enjoy playing anymore because of him, and obviously that affects a player and Stupa is a great example.
I believe no matter what the score is or how bad you play you don't ever stop fighting for a point or give up a point to hit your opponent, especially if you're a top player.

I notice in padel it seems like they only have the one ball in the court, and if the players miss their first serve they retrieve that same ball and reuse it.
But it seems like in tennis if the pros miss a first serve they immediately toss that ball away to the ball kids. Any reason for this difference in culture?
As per the title how exactly do i get a grip like this? I have never gotten my grip to be this thick at the overlaps and i have definitely been trying. Any tips?

I have a serious question. HOW ON EARTH Gonza Alfonso does not have serious sponsors?? Explain this to me. He is so so good. Especially last year and of course this year. Where is Cupra? Where is Alpine? Where are all those other brands and car renting or banks or whatever?
Also on the racket brand side? He has a partnership with one brand Duo it's called (owned by another company). Like how is this even possible? How he is not with one of the big dogs of padel rackets.
Just a white tshirt. What a shame.
I hope he gets what he deserves. Great player.

This was set point for gonza and libaak.
In or out?
I think its out but i have doubts.
Players should be allowed to ask for VAR after the point, its dificult to make miliseconds decisions on this kind of points

I’m looking for Danes or people with knowledge about how I should convert my danish padel level to Playtomic/clubs in Bali. Travelling there for 3 weeks in November.
We dont use Playtomic in Denmark and from what I’ve heard the danish levelling scale is very inflated. Basically we decide our own level or we ask a coach to rate us.
So if my level in Denmark is around 3.2 what would it be in Playtomic or what kind of open matches and activities should I be joining in Bali?

Top 4 in both men’s and women’s in the semi finals today! I’m supposed to be studying but idc I’m turning them all on and may the best team win!
I really hope stupanz pushes the golden boys since I’ve been rooting for them the last couple of tournaments. They hopefully got adequate rest too.

Any constructive criticism, tips or advices are welcome and appreciated. Kick smash is less worse(? Than my flat smash btw.

My first time was last week, ricochet off my racket. Hurt for a bit but totally fine the next day. Reminded me of my friend who has a wonky eye from a squash accident.
Now I'm wondering how common this is in padel and if I should consider protective eyewear.
How long have you been playing and how often have you been hit? Did it lead to any complications?

Watching the Milano P1 QF today and the first guy to commentate on the Triay/Brea and Ustero/Sanchez matches was terrible. He just exhaled into the mic a lot and said things of absolutely no use like “wow you don’t really wanna be broken in the first game” and “nice that shot was too good!”. Absolutely no value or knowledge of padel exhibited.
On the other hand the current woman commenting on the Tapia/Coello matches is incredible! She sounds ?English but her Spanish is great and she brings a lot of padel terms and explains the shots and strategy. I like her and the Spanish guy too, he talks a lot about building up the rally which as a beginner I don’t have a lot of insight into and appreciate.

Just wondering!

I've been playing padel around Amsterdam for a while now, and I'd say I'm somewhere between beginner and intermediate. Good enough to have some decent rallies, but still bad enough to embarrass myself at least once every few games.
The other day, I went for what I thought was going to be a pretty easy shot and completely missed the ball. Not even a difficult smash or anything spectacular, just a normal ball that somehow went straight past my racket. Of course, my mates made sure I heard about it for the rest of the match. I'm still feeling it in my shoulder 😂
It's one of those sports where you can feel like a pro for five minutes and then immediately look like you've never held a racket before.
What's the most embarrassing thing that's happened to you on a padel court? Please tell me I'm not the only one with stories like this.
