Hi, I wanted to ask if any of you are also having issues with Doctrine as a character.

I really like his aesthetic and his lore, which is why I don’t understand the design of his kit. It almost feels like his abilities have nothing to do with the character.

Let me explain: given the type of character he is, his lore, and the technology he uses, I would have imagined a more technical version of Moira, someone who manipulates HP in a sophisticated way, following the "drain life from enemies to heal allies" concept, especially considering how his drones function in the lore.

In that sense, I was expecting someone more like Adam Warlock from Marvel Rivals, with abilities like Soul Bond to share health among allies, or Life Stream to provide healing through a connection.

I know that might have felt like a rip-off, but at least it would have been more in line with the character.

As it stands, don't Doctrine's abilities feel a bit... lazy?

His movement ability, in particular, where he just stands still in a "vampire-like" pose, is visually terrible, in my opinion, though that might just be me.

His staff, which fires a beam that damages enemies while healing allies, also feels a bit generic. I know it’s necessary for gameplay, but it still feels uninspired given how the character is described in the lore.

I can understand the drone-based buffs, viewing them as "drones enhancing physiological functions", though I would have liked to see that executed differently.

And finally, the ability that simply provides a very bland boost to his other skills feels completely arbitrary, included solely for the sake of gameplay. That’s fair enough, I suppose, the character does need to be playable, but it still feels like a missed opportunity. The ultimate is good, it does exactly what the drones should do, even if I’m not a huge fan of its visual design.

In short, that’s my take on the new character. I understand that, for the sake of gameplay, balancing, enabling new strategies, and so on, it’s necessary to design characters with specific abilities; still, I’d like to see a bit more attention paid to the lore in relation to the gameplay.

I figure most people would say the hog rework was a success. He’s more interesting as a not one-shot bot, and I figure as players get used to him they’ll learn and perfect a more healthy playstyle for the character.

Who should be next? Which heroes are a bit of a problem, in terms of how they interact with the game and certain members of the cast? Bad or good, just straight up fun killing design?
