For me, it’s the Water 7 and Enies Lobby arcs!

When every crew member fights for Robin, and then she finally says, “I want to live!” with that bgm kicking in… 😭 And just when you think the emotions can’t get any heavier, the Going Merry comes to save them, only for everyone to say their final goodbye to her. I still get goosebumps just thinking about it.

Both of them have had ongoing character arcs, both of which are at their core the same, but also both of which they have actively helped each other with along the way.

First, is them seeing themselves as monsters who are unlovable. Obviously, this is much bigger plotpoint for Chopper, across Drum Island, Alabasta, Skypiea, and Enies Lobby. But it also was heavily explored by Sanji during Whole Cake Island and Wano, where he thought of himself as a monster just because of his heritage (side note, both Chopper and Sanji had horrible relationships with their biological parents and were both physically and mentally abused by them, or at least the closest thing that wild reindeers can get to mental abuse). It even culminated in Sanji asking Zoro to kill him if he turned into a mindless killing machine because of his Germa modifications.

Second, is their self-esteem issues and seeing their lives as less important than others. There are numerous instances of both Chopper and Sanji attempting to sacrifice themselves or putting others lives over their own, and they both frequently avoid dodging in battles more than other crew members, often trying to be human shields. Even as a kid, Chopper nearly died to get the mushroom he thought would save Dr. Hiriluk. Chopper straight up assumed he would die after going into Monster Point at Enies Lobby. Sanji let Absalom stab him through the chest to avoid even a drop of blood from getting on Nami's wedding dress. Sanji needed to be knocked out by Zoro to stop him from sacrificing himself to Kuma, because Sanji thought Luffy needed Zoro more than him. Chopper let the children at Punk Hazard beat him up to avoid hurting them, and even while severely injured, he dedicated all of his remaining energy on helping to treat Mocha because he knew she needed help more. Sanji broke into tears when Luffy said he couldn't become King of the Pirates without him, because his entire plan during the Whole Cake Arc hinged on that not being true. Chopper blocked a punch from Big Mom with Guard Point, and then threatened to drown Big Mom and himself to protect his friends. Chopper always treats the injuries of others before he treats his own. Chopper improved the Rumble Ball formula to 30 minutes specifically because Caesar Clown preyed upon his insecurities about his usefulness. And after failing to defeat Queen, Chopper apologized to Sanji for not being able to defeat Queen, before being reassured by Sanji that he did well. Chopper used Guard Point to shield Robin from Saturn during Egghead, and at Elbaph, Chopper jumped off a cliff without a second thought to rescue Gaban.

I look forward to both Chopper and Sanji being able to complete their journey of self-acceptance in the near future.

What other anime could make for a fitting or cool crossover (for at least a special, could you imagine a movie?)

My out there (albeit fitting) choice would prolly go to Soul Eater (love the vibe, & some of the humor would definitely fit, plus just a current fav series of mine)

Can we talk about how raw and menacing Snakeman looked here against Kaido?

As fun and chaotic as Gear 5 is, nothing quite beats this level of pure intensity. Do you miss this dark, fierce look for Luffy, or are you team Gear 5 all the way?

Chapters 21-40, Orange Town - Syrup Village/ story arcs

Pre timeskip, the Straw Hats felt like a group of friends with different dreams, post timeskip, they feel like a true pirate crew devoted more to Luffy's dream.

I personally liked it. I think the scene with all Straw Hats thinking about how they need to train to help Luffy is meant to show the shift from a dumb group of friends to an actual pirate crew.

I dunno man. Seeing how the plot is developing.

So based on that...then his final obstacle is to face a different version of his fear. A fear that loves itself for the sake of destruction, vs a love that hates itself for the sake of protecting others.

The ultimate duality.

And Lafitte being revealed to be an Okama would be an insane reveal.

As so far Oda hasn't shown us a truly evil Okama.

A cold, cruel and evil Okama that loves Blackbeard, and will give his life for him like Ivankov will for Dragon. But Blackbeard loves no one, Lafitte knows...so he will destroy the world with the one he loves! After all seeing the world burn together is kinda romantic.

Would be cool, Sanjis first real opponent was an Okama. Sanji;s final opponent is an Okama, but this one has zero redeeming qualities. Showing that anyone, even an Okama that is always happy and free, can also become evil on the right circumstances.

Almost 1200 chapters in and still going strong. Carrying Shonen jump for almost 3 decades and the margin still between 1 and 2 is crazy.
